- Today I wanted to take a look at a bunch of video games that I definitely do not think are bad but just aren't for me. Nate and I are taking a look at the top 5 most popular games we really don't like or enjoy that much. Obviously, every game will have its detractors or people who just aren't a fan of it. We aren't here to make YOU not like these games, or tell you why it's bad you enjoy them. We just wanted to talk about our opinions on these video games and video game franchises. We'll be doing the opposite side of this in the near future when we discuss the 5 unpopular games that we love but nobody really knows about. Whether it's Uncharted or Battlefield, I genuinely love that people love these games. I'm not a fan of telling people what they're not allowed to enjoy or ruining anything for anyone else. As someone who has played the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy and Uncharted series, your take on both is 100% how I feel and its refreshing. Because I felt i was the only one in my opinions so kudos.
I have the same opinion but I might be biased because tomb raider has been one of my favorite franchises since I was a kid. We plan to let’s play the reboot on degenerate plays at some point

Honestly I liked uncharted 4 and 3 but I’ve never viewed it as a game just an interactive movie like until dawn or some shit… I think part of the reason uncharted is disliked alot more is due to the lack of player freedoms to bullshit story moments… like people who just won’t die… to Nadine being able to kick Nate and sams ass with such precision only for her to end up with a gun to her head like she couldn’t do some shit to get out of it… I feel alot of the uncharted series has alot of inconsistencies and it drags on a fuck ton like finding Avery’s treasure and sending me to 4 different ass islands (stunning fucking visuals and great character dialogue and development… excellent artwork and decently good climb mechanics like AC unity in my opinion) and shit but I’ve always loved Nathan drakes personality and saw alot of myself in the guy, he’s relatable… plus doing unsavory things for money in the past so there’s alot that I like about Nathan, tell me what you like specifically about tomb raider im thinking of checking the series out
Hot take, love the first two games in the trilogy but think the last one is not worth playing both game play and story wise. Any opinions?

I love uncharted and the last of us, but I must admit, I miss old school Naughty Dog. I literally just played Jak & Daxter, and I’d love to see that series get another entry.

@@TheWOLVRINE616 I get that that game has good gameplay and everybody fights about that story whether they like it or not, I personally do not, but I do miss when they focused a little bit more on their games being games. It seems like since Uncharted came out they went in the story direction only and that's always the main focus. I thought older naughty dog games Did a really good job balancing both the gameplay and the story

@@ci7210 I loved Jak 3 so much ngl. 1 was perfect freedom and exploration, 2 was the gritty teenage phase of the franchise that focused more on story but still had exploration and 3 was the adult version of Jak and Daxter imo that fully finished growing up with it's audience and found a perfect balance of both. It's a shame they just dropped that series.

I used to put Uncharted 2 above 3, but nowadays I really appreciate how crazy Drake's Deception is.
I have really been enjoying 3. It's probably my favorite in the series of everything I've played.
Personally I love the Uncharted games but I understand that everyone has a different opinion and it's good you share your opinions instead of following the crowd, I personally don't like Metal Gear Solid 4 and thought God of War 2018 was overrated
I'm interested to know why you dislike God of War 4. As someone who has never seen negative press on the game, I do want to know why you are feeling like that.
@@thegwynbleidd4202 to provide a little bit of a dissenting opinion on that game, I have seen some people say that they prefer the original style for those games and that they thought the new one very much went away from that style. But that's the most negative I've seen on it so I don't really know. I know you weren't asking me I was just saying that I did see some people say that around the time the game launched, though a lot of people dog piled them for that take.
For me its not about the story, i dont care about that, but the gameplay, no jumping limits the combat severely, but it also hinders the world, there were no memorable platforming sections, no intereseting fractured arenas, no bosses taking advantage a jumping, because there is no jumping, the magic is gone too, and there are only 2-ish weapons, i also feel it became "norse last of us" which is a trope i also kinda hate, there is more, but you get the picture
100% , finally some1 who thinks this. I think god of war 2018 is the most overrated game is existence. yes it’s a decent game. But it’s not a mind blowing experience how ppl describe it to be.

I agree with Apex, League, and battlefield I think because I really like things that are more story driven and rely a lot on exploration rather than just constant gunfights.

I think its a preference thing, some people like aspects of Battlefield more then Cod, some people might prefer Bigger maps and destructive maps like in Battlefields conquest mode and some might prefer smaller maps with more arcade gameplay with modes like TDM, FFA.

The thing I love about uncharted is the insane action pieces like the cruise boat or the train or the plain or the chase in uncharted 4 but I agree with your opinion about the collectibles. Oh also have you played the 4th one because that one makes me like Nathan and Elena much more and it has what I think is the best story.

Dude, those new Tomb Raider games are amazing.
Metroid Zero Mission is a game in particular I'd rank as a fantastic game I never want to play again. It was so frustrating when I played through it. I'm fine with hard games but locking every single way to progress behind arbitrary upgrades that were hidden around the map in such a non-organic way just made me mad when I played through it. I ended up beating it but thinking I was glad I didn't have to play it again.
Guys, hear me out, just play the 4th Uncharted game, I does such a great job tying everything together, you didn't even mention it in the video so I'll assume you didn't play it, you are comparing the new Tomb Raider trilogy (which started in 2015 cross gen and with the later titles fully next gen) to the Uncharted trilogy which ended in 2011. You criticize how Uncharted feels less open-ended than Tomb Raider which has an actual open world whereas Uncharted 4 - 2016 (which is now contemporary on the technical part) took steps to improve on this aspect and has some open-ended levels. This is my only gripe on your commentary, I agree with the fact that Uncharted is Sony's tech demo franchise lol.
Yeah I've never completed 4. Tbh I do feel like you can have an opinion on the game series playing 3 out of 5 of them (I suppose 6 if you count the Vita one?) But I am still going to play 4. Nate played through all of 4 already and he didn't enjoy it. I've played 1-3 and watched some of 4 but still plan to play it just because 3 has been my favorite so far of them and has actually made me enjoy the games more (at least number 3) I am looking forward to playing 4.
I really love uncharted I have always been a history buff and I love the fact that a video game found a way to make that cool to enjoy I like the action adventure aspect of the game but if I was to make a let's play on it I would have to play the game first off camera so I won't have to use hours I don't have to spare for it

League is one of those games where I wish they'd make a spinoff of it similar to a hero shooter or something in the vein of Smite because I love the characters but just don't enjoy the gameplay. I know they're doing a more casual port/spin off of it or already did, but it's still that same genre of gameplay. I'm very happy for people who love it but I just don't care for it.
Rewatching this after playing (and loving) Uncharted for the first time ☝
1:18 Count me as that someone but I respect your opinion and surprised by the angle because usually the criticism is centered around the ending. For myself I didn't find it too unforgiving in navigation for the map and the frequencies of saves but I'm coming from a person who liked and replays the original Metroid and this was essentially the perfect remake of that game. Plus I just loved the controls which imo were the best 2D Metroid has been up until Dread.
Nevertheless glad you gave it a shot and hope you enjoy Dread, probably my number 2 or 1 in the Metroid franchise.
The only thing I disagree with you guys on is Drake and Elena's relationship. I love their chemistry and the road bumps they had to go through to be with accept each other and be with each other. That's one of things that hooked me in, as cheesy as it sounds. I never really cared about the treasure or the history of it. The main trio of Sully, Elena and Nate, those 3. Their progression, their dynamics, that's what makes Uncharted my favorite game franchise of all time. But even I can't pin down a specific reason as to why that is.
And I 100% fully respect that. I'm glad people love it as much as they do and honestly the third game has changed my opinion some uncharted and made me enjoy it a lot more. I'm actively excited to play four and lost legacy and to be honest three feels the most like a video game to me where I feel like I'm actively taking part in game scenarios and affecting what's going on around me. And I really do respect what the series did and I respect that it got a whole generation of gamers to take story in games more seriously and actually care about it. It deserves mad credit for that.
@@DegenerateJay I said in the last comment I posted, Uncharted is my favorite game franchise but the worst thing about the games is that they're playable movies and not much more. Playing them for me is as easy as popping in a DVD. That's why, even with all my love for it, I will always say the new Tomb Raider trilogy is SO much better as games. The stories there never really grabbed me though.
PS: Please do a video if you can on Uncharted 4 after you play it. It's my personal favorite and I'd love to hear your thoughts, even if you hate it. 😂
I haven't played Lost Legacy cuz I never really cared about Chloe, Nadine is a better character in my opinion. I haven't played Golden Abyss but would love to since it's a prequel. 🤘

Coming from someone who loves Uncharted I respect your opinion but if you continue playing through the Uncharted series when you get to 4 it's absolutely amazing from characters to gameplay to story. I would love to see your thoughts on Uncharted 4
Agreed on Uncharted. I couldn't get into it. Tried the first one. Didn't get a lot of time. Tried the second one since hear that one of them best games on PS3. Couldn't get into it.

I've never heard anyone say that the Uncharted series excels at teaching any kind of history. The games are popular for the impressive visuals, insane set-pieces, fun action-adventure vibe, and the characters. I can definitely see why you'd dislike it if you didn't find the characters likeable as that's a big part of it. The comparison with Tomb Raider is interesting as I thought the 2013 game was good but took itself FAR more seriously than Uncharted ever did. It was much more trying to be a grounded and gritty survival game and it didn't hit the "fun action-adventure vibe" spot that Uncharted hits so perfectly at all.
I think Rise of the Tomb Raider & Shadow of the Tomb Raider handle that fun action-adventure vibe better than 2013 does.

After picking up the Spider-Man 2 game on the original Xbox, I gotta say....it’s pretty lacking. There is a certain charm to it without a doubt, but man there are better options out there nowadays for Spider-Man games.
Was certain the list was going to be Uncharted 1, 2, 3, 4, and Lost Legacy.

I’m also not a fan of apex legends or league. I have a few choice words for them but TH-cam wouldn’t let me say them, so I’ll just say that I think they’re VERY much so not for me
I loved the idea of battlefield 1 but I just never liked history class so the idea of playing history class never caught on until I cared now for some reason.
I found Metroid Zero Mission to be the easiest 2D Metroid to beat by far. 100% completion is probably more difficult due to the shinespark puzzles, but just a casual play through is pretty simple. It guides you where to go a lot more than Super, and the boss fights were easier than Fusion and Samus Returns.

Crazy. While I completely disagree with your takes on Uncharted, I do get what you mean. The first game is definitely an outlier in the series. So if you really liked it I can understand why the rest of the series may not appeal to you. They definitely get crazier and their set pieces can be over the top. I think why I like Nathan Drake has more to do with Nolan North than the character itself. He gives a very charismatic performance that I enjoy. Also if you do see this, I was wondering if you guys have played Uncharted 4 yet or just didn't mention it in the video.
Zero Mission is only difficult if you’re going for 100% completion. Casual play throughs can be completed in 90 minutes easily, especially if you have any experience with 2D Metroid.

One reason I didn't like uncharted was that enemies were like the agents of The Matrix. Headshots were hard.
I agree with all the games except uncharted. I understand it’s not for everyone and it might be more nostalgia but I love everything about all these games. I know it is said a lot but I think uncharted 2 is the best and this is not an option I got from reading what everyone else has said about the game but something I decided when I was a kid playing it for the first time before I knew anything about reading things on the internet. Uncharted will always be a great part of my life to the point that I think my next tattoo will say “sic parvis magna”
I feel the absolute same way about Halo so I get what you're saying and tbh nobody could convince me the first 4 Halo games are bad no matter what. I grew up playing and loving them and I don't think that's just nostalgia talking and I don't think yours is either. Like I said earlier, uncharted 3 was probably my favorite and I haven't completed 4 so I still plan to play that through all the way when it's re releases on PS5 very soon.

I tried to get into MMO games like DC Universe Online, not my cup of tea.
The only Battlefield game I played was Bad Company 2 mobile. I played some Call of Duty games for the campaign, then Warzone, and I had more fun with those than Battlefield.

There are only 4 games I can name that are popular, but I despise: the two Outlast games, DDLC, and Alien isolation. I despise having to run and hide from enemies that I could just grab a weapon and kick their asses with. If it wasn't for the stupid hide-n-seek mechanics, then it's just dying because the enemies just somehow figuring out where I was, even though I hid a while before they even entered the room. That and the fandom of Alien isolation is....Undertale-level of toxic. As for DDLC, I'm kinda tired of the "subversive story that totally isn't any deeper than a drop of piss" story. If I wanted a game that made me feel for the characters, I'd play literally anything else, that and the game should _probably_ allow me to interact with the characters more than a few minutes before rebooting the story and putting them back to how they were before they met the player character.
Love Apex. But I hate Apex also. Feels like there’s no hope for Titianfall 3 anytime soon bcuz of it. I like how it world builds on tf2, not through gameplay but lore so there’s that.
I played uncharted 1 recently to try and get into the series and it just felt so clunky, i am the type of person that cant move on if I can't finish the first game.

I agree with some of your list especially your argument about LoL. But I really disagree on you saying battlefield is just a budget call of duty. Since battlefield came out first in 2002
Battlefield came out I believe a year earlier but it used to have way more personality and things separating themselves from the shooters around them imo. Since they started pushing for the console market they also started trying to be more accessible and I think that's where all of these shooters started becoming more similar.
I tried to get into Uncharted. I played the 3rd game. But I can't get into it. The series wants to be taken seriously, but you're basically Spider Man. And that's fine and all, but the dissonance it creats really ejects me from the game.

Here’s a hot take. I’ve never been able to finish Last of Us because I loose interest as soon as you start taking the little girl to get her bite checked out. It’s something that’s been done to death in Zombie media and I just don’t stay invested enough to complete the game. Eventually one day I’ll complete it but I doubt my opinion will change it’s just a boring game to me personally

Uncharted is my favorite game franchise of all time, I've never played a series so consistent in quality and I love the main trio. But even I gotta face that they're just playable movies and that's the worst thing about it. Not really games as much as they are scenes that you interact with. The new Tomb Raider trilogy is so much better in every single way but the story there was not as compelling to me.

I've got 5 games I don't care for.
Ratchet & Clank: I'm a biased Jak & Daxter fan. I have even played an R&C game & I was just uninterested with these dudes.
Spider-Man 2: I'm a huge Spidey fan & I'll play anything with him on the cover. As I've gotten older, I realized that there are just better Spidey games like Web of Shadows, Ultimate Spider-Man & Marvel's Spider-Man in my opinion.
Last of Us: I'm sure it's a great game but I played it for a couple of days & I came to the conclusion that this style of game isn't for me. Maybe it was the control or maybe nothing about the game grabbed my attention.
Undertale: I don't get the appeal. I played it for awhile too & chose not to devote any more time to it. I don't hate it but it didn't gravitate to me whatsoever.
Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen: I love the aesthetic of the game. Same goes for 3rd Gen, 4th Gen & 5th Gen. But FireRed & LeafGreen be doing too much. I shouldn't have to catch Pokémon to get things like Flash & the Exp Share. And grinding levels is trash in Gen 1. I don't mind grinding usually. It's relaxing to me. But it's too damn slow in Kanto.

Mine are any first person shooters(I like some Cod and Battlefield campaigns but they’re always so short ) and any battle royal game or online focused game

I agree with Uncharted but only the 4th. I love the others but i don't think the fourth is all that it's hyped up to be and personally i think it is the worst one. Now this might be a hot take but the first Last of Us isn't that good and is just the story of Children of Men with zombies

Alright I've already commented a few times so at the risk of being obnoxious I gotta say I really appreciate the KDA love. That band is awesome and imo the best thing to come out of LOL.
I always thought I was alone in not liking Uncharted. I thought the first game was fun, but 2 and 3's gameplay somehow felt less fun than the first game and their stories were significantly less interesting imo. I didn't like 2 and 3 so much that I still haven't even started 4 and don't really plan on it anytime soon. When it comes to Metroid though, Zero Mission is actually my favorite so far (haven't played Fusion or Dread yet), but I agree that the difficulty spikes can be a little much sometimes.

@@TheWOLVRINE616 so far I’ve played through half of 3, have yet to finish the series. 1 would honestly have to be my favorite tho because I felt the characters had the best portrayal of their personalities in that one. Nate, while feeling like a modern Indy knockoff, also I thought had a lot of nods to a much deeper character. Not saying the other 2 I’ve played don’t have that, I just thought it was much less. I also love the first one for having a bit more focus on the story aspect rather than more of an action set piece direction

I hate the first uncharted. The controls are pretty bad and very clunky especially in climbing sections. But since that was the first in the series and given its age I can understand why those issues exist. But man the worst thing about this game which is also in 2 and 3, for me, is the COUNTLESS hordes of enemies you have ro fight. It's just plain annoying and not fun in most cases. Uncharted 4 had the perfect balance between exploration and gunfights imo. I really enjoyed it. Plus story wise it felt way more grounded to reality which is also a plus for me.
Some franchises have an identity crisis and it's one of the worst things I hate about video games, and some franchises stick with the themes after the first game - knowing what it is in terms of genre, setting, gameplay and story - it's rare but it's still there. I've played and liked the Uncharted series but it was its own theme and yes, I also see the second and third entries as the weakest in the series. I never liked the reboot Tomb Raider games, they were a knockoff of Rambo and TLOU - trying too hard to be darker than its rival, Uncharted.

Apex is fun except for the 3rd parties, random dc, glitches, and cheaters. Other than that, banger game
Apex seems like it would be great for a group of friends. I'm sure some have more fun in duos than we did but these BR games seem all very focused on the concept of having a group of buddies to play with.

Also I'm in agreement, any new Tomb Raider game is better than any Uncharted game; Rise of the Tomb Raider is still a game I play every year.
I love battlefield it just felt better to me than cod I liked ww2 cod a lot and stuff but battlefield has just been better more fun to me I love battlefield hardline and one just cod I’ve never liked that’s my opinion

@@DegenerateJay Yeah to be more precise it's mainly because the game had a "sweet spot" mechanic where snipers could one shot on the upper body at a certain range. In older games the only way to one hit kill was a headshot, sniping in the older games was notoriously difficult for that reason and you also had to account for the low bullet velocity.
I loved the Uncharted games as a teenager when they came out, I replayed them recently and I now think they are very overrated

Uncharted 😡😡😡😡 jk but still uncharted that good game
Outside of the Metroid game, I really don't care for any of those, either. With that Uncharted entry in particular, it's kinda ironic that The Last of Us pt 2 was the first ND game to really draw ire from fans, since that was genuinely the first one I loved. Mostly because I grew up with Spyro while missing the boat on Crash, and completely overlooked Jak and Daxter. Uncharted was just one I couldn't bring myself to enjoy, though I liked the first TLoU, despite some issues with it.
In terms of other popular games I didn't like that others clearly did, I don't care for Doom 2016, nor Overwatch, nor Final Fantasy VII Remake, or the Max Payne franchise.
Uncharted 2 is overrated and uncharted 3 is underrated I rank the uncharted series in order of release
