I live in the U.S. and have just discovered this GEM. I love it. Thank you so much for posting this. I'm afraid I'm binge watching. Can't stop myself. Love from San Diego, California.
A much underrated comedy series that included the already famous Richard Briers, and in Penelope Wilton and Peter Egan, an actor and actress on the cusp of great things. Easy to watch this time and again
This is lovely. Currently watching all EDC episodes during a marathon work stint drawing at my desk, never seen it before, and this is a wonderfully touching episode. many thanks for uploading!
Martin has massive insecurities - I remember Richard Briers saying the same thing in an interview. Whenever he is around Paul he feels inadequate. Like many insecure people, Martin can't cope when he isn't in control of everything. Paul frequently takes control and sorts out problems and Martin just cannot hack it. Look at him wince when Anne kisses Paul on the lips - he just can't help himself! Brilliant acting by Briers.
I’m imagining Ann had a torrid time with men when younger - maybe a failed marriage so thus settled for Martin. It’s why she would never run off with Paul..
Mrs Richards: " I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?
great episode and programme, Martin was a real dick here , Paul saves his marriage and he still has a go at him, and turns back to Howard and Hilda who were really crap friends
If you're still looking for the name it's 'Ever Decreasing Circles' as in going round in ever.....It's indeed from England from the 1980s made by the BBC.
Peter Egan is gorgeous. I have always loved him.
Wonderful, wonderful writing and acting.
Absolutely love this classic comedy .Great cast members .I wouldn't mind Peter Egan living next door to me .
Rex Tynan....also Kirk St Moritz in Dear John. Played those parts brilliantly. Peter Blake RIP.
Such an underrated actor he was....Quite Incredible in everything he starred in..R.I.P.....Briers was also a Master...R.I.P
Thought "Melissa" was priceless!
Penelope Wilson and Peter Egan should do a comedy follow up from this one call it ever increasing circles. They should get together in this one.

A magnificent series from the mid 80s. Look up Peter Egan who plays the smooth neighbour. Very much into in animal welfare.
Thanks, Ian. The animal welfare detail makes me like him even more!!!
