LOVE the teaser, I'm hyped as FUCK for this! 3 small criticisms (Seriously, these are EXTREMELY minor, the art, worldbuilding, atmosphere, sound usage and level design is TOP NOTCH) 1. The intro mentions the temple is found in lust but requires V1 to have equipment found much later in the game, it would be nice if an explanation was put in place once Act 3 is out (Easy one is to say a random hellivator took V1 back to Lust after the last weapon/arm is found or add custom level exit right after V2 as you're expected to have the grapple to get through the temple) as to prevent people from spamming you with the same "Um actually" question. 2. The ULTRABURST text is a bit hard to read, especially if someone is color blind. I'd recommend adding some level of filling, even if it still retains the outline (Which does look cool af btw, just hard to see with the current level design. Maybe change the room's lighting to fill in the text during the title splash? That could be cool) 3. I'm noticing a lot of people complaining about the sword in the comments for a video with this few comments (You deserve SO many more), I think the animation is alright as is but perhaps the posture could be changed? It feels a bit stiff at the moment in a non-robotic way, like V1 is holding the fishing rod instead of a sword (Smart asset reuse if that is the case, good work!). Perhaps picking a more dynamic stance or perhaps having his forearm across the bottom of the screen to imply he's quick-drawing could work well to add more style to the weapon, the classic Kill Bill 2 poster pose could also work well, hell you could even just rotate the arm 90 degrees to the left, as long as the posture seems more "Ready to kill a bunch of shit for style points and blood". I'm also in the process of working on my own total conversion project for another game so I know how absolutely insane the amount of work required is to make stuff like this and I could genuinely go on for an entire essay about how much you did right so far, keep up the good work!
Ok thanks for the feedback. When it comes to point 3, stuff like the pose and animations is hard to make it more smooth and dynamic while trying to make the weapon snappy and responsive. I've seen people ask for more of a wind up in the swing, but it depends if they want there to be a delay for the actual swing, as I'm trying to make it as responsive as the base game weapons so hits can be registered instantly. Plus adding a delay in the animation will throw the swing sound out of sync. But this is still in it's mostly alpha phase so I should be able to find ways to improve it.
so the lust layer contains a portal out of hell to the popped realm, which in turn leaks into the regular world? (a tragic desire) so does this mean that it would be theoretically possible to travel through a leak in the normal world into the popped realm, then into hell?
well, the plan is that the "prophecy" backfires on the realm. As V1 has to escape the realm with the blade first, but knowing V1's only motive is to get blood and just keep going fucks up the prophecy and so now the realm will be the one experiencing the slaughter.
On the other side, the "portal" is just another hell elevator but takes V1 back to the surface where the temple it found. You only enter the realm if you die via bursting.
Man, thats so good, idea, lvl desgin, mellee weapon is fire. I like that part when up stairs are become closer and more claustrophobic. Such a good project, if you need a 3D modeler, animator or composer, I would be glad to participate. ;^)
Pretty neat. The only gripes I have is the position of the sword (which was mentioned by someone else) and the grapple point. Mostly for continuity's sake. Since the temple is in the Lust layer, that means V1 wouldn't have the grapple arm yet, as that's gotten from V2 in the Greed layer later on.
Looks promising! One thing i would personally work on a little more however is the grammar and punctuation on the written texts, as there are many spelling mistakes (even if minor!) But nonetheless, it is not much to worry about.
Theory: V1 found A hellevator somewhere in hell and it took them to a forest in the lust layer, the events of the prelude then happen. That’s my theory!
Fair enough, the only real conflict though is that I want it to quick and responsive so it doesn't have any real delay from pressing left click to swing and the actual swing in the animation.
Also, why are you still using the word "sussy" like it has any kind of relevance anymore. Im assuming you're about 9-13 years old, id advise you to click off of this and go back to finishing your homework
Sword looks a bit weird doesn't it? Maybe have it be horizontal instead, towards the bottom of the screen. That way it won't get in the way and cover up a quarter of the screen

It being horizontal won't really change much, I honestly think it's current position covers up the screen just as much as the other weapons.
