my issue is. I want a shorter windshield. I want to see just barely over the windshield. When they list the size of the windshield height, are they stating the entire length including the part of the windshield you do not see when they list how tall it is or are they just stating how much is exposed Above that chrome beauty cover? if 19 inches is the standard height, I want to go down to about 13 inches. I don’t like looking through the windshield, then threw my helmet visor, then threw my sunglasses, especially when driving into the sun, while driving on a road partly shaded by trees, giving the strobe effect.. I had that very scenario yesterday, September 16, 2021 when I picked up my new to me royal star venture, 2008, 30 K miles,( my 3rd venture) had an 86 venture royale 16 yrs,138K miles- went to a BMW K 1200 LT, never again, went to a midnight Venture 2002, it had 50 K on it and it was neglected,, it was tired , the suspension was shot, had LOUD pipes.. it was embarrassing .. flipped that after just a few months.. got a gl1800 goldwing..It was perfect after I swapped the springs in the forks in the rear shock out, but you really can’t get add anything very easily on those bikes. example:Five hours to change the air filter @ $125 an hr.. I did the job myself, and it took me six hours. Lots and lots of plastic and electrical connections and plastic panels to remove.Goldwing is perfect, but I just never bonded with it so I went back to another venture. You can get out the clutch, the water pump, the slave cylinder, the generator, the air filters, without removing two hours worth of plastic. I just wish Ventures had fuel injection.. I could tell by writing the 2008 Venture I picked up yesterday, that the carburetors need to be cleaned at least and re-synchronized. I hope the diaphragms are fine. They ain’t cheap if you can find them..
Most companies list the height measured from the top of the trim to the top of the windshield. Clear view windshields measure from the tank to the top of the windshield, don’t ask me why. I cut mine down to 13” (measured from the trim) and it’s about perfect for me. I’m 6’2”, and I don’t get any buffeting at highway speed. I can’t ride with my visor up over 50 any more though.
