      Hey Benny, it should be the same process, all the royal stars have the same motor. it may or may not fix your issue, or it may make it better but not completely fix it. Follow up. Turns out the worst of it was caused by the rubber plugs on the tube for syncing the carbs. they had gotten hard and cracked. Replacing them fixed 90% of the issue and what is left is not as loud and noticeable. Replacing the mufflers with new ones and removing the used harley ones also helped with the popping issue and returned the performance to the bike. Runs a ton better. Thank you.

I like the look of this stock light bar setup. I searched for a new light bar and couldn't find the same one as l have I decided to look at aftermarket and I didn't see anything l really liked. Still looking. I looked at several websites to find a diagram of the passing light disassembly and none have it. They only show the signal light bar exploded view. I am curious when you did the swap, did you do any jetting? Just wanted to know if you jetted yours and if so, what changes did you make? I ask because I installed Monster Ovals and K&N filters (with airbox end covers removed mod) and since have had to run with 1/4 - 1/2 choke with no other issues until my carbs finally started leaking due to old seals. So a couple weekends ago, I cleaned and rebuilt my carbs with new seals, and I did install the jet kit I bought back when I bought the mufflers. Bumped up from 15 to 20 on the pilot jets, and staggered main jets on front and rear carbs up one size to 125 and 127.5 respectively. Also replaced fuel pump and filter at that time. She fired right up at 3 1/4 turns out on the pilot screws and ran strong for 1 day with pops and backfires with flames on deceleration. Finished the initial maintenance around midnight. Next morning took her to the shop for an inspection and started up, and came home no problem. But the next day I tried to ride to work but she wouldn't run once warm, just cranked and cranked or caught for a short bit but shut down on rough idle. I tried several micro adjustments on the pilot screw and idle speed but nothing worked. Replaced old battery and plugs (upgraded to iridium). Can't solve the equation of proper air/fuel mix. I did note that the fuel pump doesn't seem to be engaging even after I drained the float bowels once or twice. I may need to put the original one back in. I decided to order some 17.5 pilot jets to see if I can get it dialed in better. Or if 22.5 might be better, since 3-1/4 to 3-1/2 seems to be the only point where it runs at all. But adding choke is worse at that level so I think I might be rich, but when I turn them in even to 3 turns it won't start, thus the 17.5 decision. Any input by any of the OG gurus would be appreciated.

    @Jodyrides 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is your plastic stock filter getting soft ??I have a Moto Guzzi norge, The online owners club reports methanol in the gasoline attacks the plastic of some filters, like the ones on my Norge. The filter was a bit mushy/soft. They gave a part number of a NAPA metal filter that is unaffected by methanol. That filter is much larger than the one on my royal star venture, which is fuel injected, and mounted inside the fuel tank with the fuel pump, as bad as it sounds it was very easy to change the filter.. A little sidenote, I had a GL 1800 Goldwing that I did a major service on. Air filter which took five hours, and I am an ex-mechanic and I am not slow. I upgraded the suspension but changing the fork springs and rear shock spring, they took two days. You have to remove everything including the fuel tank which is behind the engine, in front of the rear wheel just to get to the top bolt of the shock.. But one note about the GL 1800 fuel filter. There isn’t one. They have no fuel filter on the Goldwing GL 1800. No wonder I couldn’t find it, or any literature or any articles on the Internet

    • @RotorKev
      @RotorKev 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The old filter wasn't mushy, but it was pretty gunked up. When I bought the RSV, I was originally looking for a gold wing, but couldn't find anything in my budget range. I'm glad I ended up with the venture instead.

I have had three ventures and all of them got around 45 to 48 miles to the gallon. That adds up with todays fuel prices..if you like to do your own maintenance,you can work on a venture yourself, you don’t have to marry the dealer like you have to with todays BMWs( had a k1300LT.. my first and last BMW…I will never go out on that limb again- dont get me started on all the flaws that machine had).. I could go on and on about how perfect gold wings are and how much they appear to be better than the ventures, but what does better mean? I know from personal experience that the ventures are much much easier to work on. The ride is roomier & plusher on a venture.. ventures are just as reliable.
