    Our caravan has become a local celebrity due to the motormover. We could sell tickets.

    A wonderfully convenient device, however, I have noticed in more recent years that people with motor movers seem to have lost the skill for reversing their vans, very evident when you meet another caravaner nose to nose on a country lane, you look for the motor movers and realise you will be the one reversing as the motor mover driver is now in a total state of panic !

      Hi Jamie, I totally agree. I have never towed the van; just couldn't. However, my hubby was a long distance lorry driver (draw bar)for many years and could park on a sixpence. However, the mover made it possible to park the van on the drive (tow hitch in) to help prevent it being stolen. Alas, we do not have a van at present.

      Stay in control , Don't panic and back up a little slowly , it's not that scary.👍

    One of the best ever inventions. Gorgeous caravan you have there.

      Thank you, Simon. The caravan is more secure if you can park hitch in so the mover is invaluable.

      It's basically a giant RC toy and they move so easily... I've seen one be put into a drive just a tad longer and about a foot and a half wider than the actual caravan from a perpendicular angle

    Just learn to reverse

    • @pjc4488
      @pjc4488  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My husband doesn't need to learn to reverse. He drove a left hand drive, 60 ft covered car transporter carrying prestigious cars all over Europe for many years. He can park on a sixpence. The idea of the mover (as you can see from the video) is so we can park it on the drive, hitch in. This makes it less likely to be stolen. Please don't assume that caravanners using a motor mover, cannot reverse.

      @@pjc4488 well i have been driving class 1 for 33 years and would not need to use the motor mover to get it of the road like that but like they say some can and some can't

      @melvin moorhouse sorry sir but there are situations where it will not be possible to manoeuvre a car and caravan close to a pitch hence why motor mover are essential on twin axle caravans!! Next you'll tell me you can push a 1.7 ton caravan by yourself especially on an upward or downward slope 😅

      Fitted mine to making placing van on its pad lot easier and saver. Reversing involved placing car on busy road and having wife guide. Now when we arrive home in dark, drive straight into garage. Unhitch and go to bed. In morning its 10minute job by one person to place on pad. Also handy being able to put on and off driveway at will to work on or load. While I've excellent reversing skills, it very hard to manoeuvre when you are working blind, mirrors only work on inside when turning, can't see outside of van or whats behind it. With these I can walk around van while maneuvering. The alternative is 2 person job which requires perfect communication not given in very relationship, MMs save marriages.
      While not must when touring used them more than I thought. Placing onto tight pitch where wasn't room in front for tow vehicle to maneuver. Reversing into pitch in dark. Using levellers, move up one level check spirit level and repeat if needed. Rotating van 180 and placing on pitch forwards for the views.
      Needing to do a Uturn on tight dead end street. Had to do this once with light boat which was easy to unhitch and manhandle. All takes is one wrong turn for this scenerio to happen.
      In summary MMs are essential for some storage locations but not others. Having them just makes caravan ownership more enjoyable, downside is big hit on payload.
