I'm Chinese but studying in Scotland and deeply into it now. Such a beautiful country that no longer wanna leave. Scotland! Thank you very much. :) Runrig's version of Loch Lomond is the best i ever heard.
music is a worldly "common/easy to understand" language, as a Chinese, love it so much too:) and we were introduced while on the road to Scotland:) during a national trip~ Cheers!
This song always get's me so emotional. I was born in England, but my whole mothers side is from South Uist in the outer Hebrides. And every time we had a wedding, family reunion, gathering this song was always played. It's such a beautiful song, and Runrigs rendition truly is brilliant. You definitely know your Scottish when this song puts a spell on you.
I was Born in Loch Lomond and lived there all my life till 3 years ago i moved to Glasgow and never did i miss the bonny banks so much!! Im back in my home town now and never felt more patriotic about my beautiful homeland! I feel priviladged to say that I was Born in such a beautiful part of the world! This gets the old blood rising! cant beat it! Hogmanay favourite! Go Loch Lomond love u!
no matter where I am in the world, no matter what I am doing, I listen to runrig and I am home again! I am proud to be scottish, proud to wear my kilt when i go out :) and proud when i listen to this song!!
This song gives all Scottish kin a shiver as it marks every celebration throughout our lives as its played at every wedding, birthdays, anniversary's , leaving doo's ext .......... u never see a dour face when this is playing. Cracking song !!!
I'm an American who has always loved this song before I had ever heard of Runrig, however when I heard this I finally heard it the way it was meant to be sang. AMAZING. Runrig instantly became one of my favorite bands. That was about 15 years ago and still listening to them almost every day.
+Tar Man This is the song that introduced me to Runrig and it is still one of my favorites. I don't give a rat's ass about the politics. I also hate when people with political agenda's take great songs and use them to fit their needs. Example is how the IRA took Danny Boy and added a IMO war mongering verse to it and made it their anthem.
In 1957 when I was nine years old my father took me from San Diego, California, to Inverness. Ancestors of ours were members of the Fraser Clan. Since then, I've traveled throughout the world. I've never met people nicer than the Scots.
My dad (from East Kilbride) always played Runrig for me growing up here in Canada. He passed last year. This song is so damn beautiful, it brings a tear to the eye.
I am Scottish but now living in Spain and my daughter Marie and her partner David came over for a wee visit this week, sadly the weather was a wee bit chilly but we all had a good time, David brought me a bottle of 12 year old single malt Loch Lomond Whisky and I am sipping it right now and listening one of the best bands ever, RUNRIG, what a song, every time I hear it my heart just burst with pride, their music is incredible. And I have to say the tears are flowing freely, I am having a wee Scottish night on TH-cam so my eyes will be pretty red by the time I go to bed.
I'm an American with 100% Scotch-Irish-English blood. This song moved my little soul at age 5, as did everything from the British Isles. I didn't know exactly where my roots ran, but my DNA confirmed it. This stuff is embedded in our DNA, ..my entire life I've longed to see my homeland. I'm 62 now, and this blessed COVID made me cancel my trip last year. I pray God allows me to remain on this earth long enough to walk the moors of Ireland, dip my feet in the beautiful lochs of Scotland & to see the beauty of the Cliffs of Dover. Tears flow down my face as I imagine touching down in Britian...my sister said she feels like she is HOME every time she lands there. If only I could spend out the rest of my days where my ancestors called home! 🙏 🏴🇬🇧🇮🇪
Ty Turner oh please visit your land !!! Not only because of music because of great friendly people ! And wonderful landscape ! Love from Germany Renate
What is it about this band of wonderful humans that gripped me from the first time I ever heard them? It isn't just the energy that courses through them to me in songs like this. Some of their songs are quiet, peaceful, tranquil. I think it's a feeling that their hearts and souls are fully involved in the music they give to us...so much so that my heart feels ready to explode when I hear them...my brain tingles, happy tears come to my eyes and I just have to smile.
My Scottish ancestors came 2 centuries ago & I feel my Scottishness as strongly as if I had been born there! I'm pure Scottish on my mom's side & only my Scots ancestors remembered where they came from & handed it down. I've got pix of my great great grandparents, my cousins play in Highland Games, we've traced our family back to medieval Scotland. My dad's (Cornish,English&Welsh) folks never handed anything down God bless Bonnie Scotland!!!

To sum it up You can take the scotsman out of Scotland but you can NEVER take Scotland out of the scotsman been away for 4 years now but Scotland is fixed in my heart and always will be.So Proud to be Scots. In life I Love you Scotland And in death we will never be parted till I return.

I'm Mexican, and have been lucky enough to travel to more than 25 Countries so far. Scotland is for sure one of my favorites... It's Nature, towns, pubs, people, even grannies are cool... I was looking for something that would make me feel back there and found this song. It absolutely worked... Love your land and you guys should be proud!
I was there with my son and my amazing sister, who sadly is no longer with us, what a wonderful setting, brilliant atmosphere and great music, day was amazing from start to finish memories to cherish forever
The end to a massive moment in Runrig's history! I wish I had been old enough to go! I was 2 and a half at the time haha. To posters below, I am not Scottish, but I am still proud to be a Runrig fan, and I love Scotland. You don't have to be Scottish to be proud of somewhere!
I went to Murrayfield in 2005 to watch Scotland play the All Blacks. New Zealand won and later, much later that evening I found myself arm in arm with the All Blacks in the "Three Sisters" in Edinburgh dancing to this. Nice to see the lads getting the beers in on tour and celebrating their victory to this excellent song.
See when this comes on every party iv been to in Scotland ,I get misty eyed ,to see my loved ones and good pals forming a circle on the dance floor and going mental ,like the crowd here,it stirs me inside ,Thanks dad Scotland has been everything I have ever dreamt of ,Respect from Edinburgh
I played this track at a wedding in Barbados last weekend for some Scottish people and I have to say I really enjoyed it, seeing them dance to it and totally enjoying it. What a way to end the night. love it when it gets to 3 minutes in!!!!!
Was kidnapped as a bairn by Gypsies (well my parents but ......) and brought to Canada and have been blessed with all the Scottish music every Hogmanay since. Just play it and make them listen, works for us and even our weans and friends love that one night of the year still celebrated at my mum and dad's! All the best in your new adventure and in 2013!
The Scottish half of me loved this song, as does the Irish half. I live in England and have been lucky enough to visit the Bonnie banks. Such a beautiful place
What a special night that must have been. You never know where God will show up. It looks like His children were really enjoying themselves...no cursing, no ill will, nothing improper can be seen in this video. Bless the children of Scot Land.
as a scotsman living in england every scotlish song makes me feel so proud n everyone make the hairs on the back of ma neck stick up. pure and simple scotland forever
When ever I listen to this song and to Coming Home it hits this place in my solar plexus, deep emotions aroused and I'm not even Scottish!. I go to the Highlands several time a year and am in love with your land. So magical and nothing can explain the feelings. Please adopt me.
My dad was at this concert before I was born. I've only heard it once on the radio ever. And that one time was when me and him were in the car, it was I think the only time I've ever seen him break down and cry. I don't live in Scotland anymore but by god, when I listen to this I'm back there with him, on they long summer days, on the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
Song reminds me of my daddy...he would sing this song when we were in the fields digging potatoes!! the mounds were rows some were high and some were planted low. LOL Gosh that was 40 yrs ago!! Thanks for sharing!
Runrig is one of my favourite bands and in searching for their rendition of Loch Lomond, I found your post. I'm so sorry for your loss, James; I lost my father in 2000 and I miss him terribly, still. May you find comfort in the music and nature that your dad so loved. Blessings from across The Pond
I love this so much! I was sitting in the pub of the Bettyhill Hotel, Bettyhill, with a new friend and heard this! 2000. I was so moved I had to go outside to compose myself; the orchestration moved me so deeply, so profoundly! An anthem! what a treasure----my heartfelt gratitude!
Beautiful song by a wonderful group sung with loads of pride and love for Scotland:). Bonnie Scotland mare words can not describe your beauty for your valleys, hills, mountain, lochs and glens are beyond compare for your beauty is so very rare and precious and you sit deep within our hearts and never will you part.Scotland to thee i pledge this day going forth deep within my heart and soul i am Scottish to the core my blood is not of pure but my heart and soul is worth to you ever more.xxx
Scotland is my FAVOURITE country and it's one of my dreams to live there when I'm older! (current age:15) This song gives me such a great feeling, I love it so much! 🥰Ahhh, shit, I'm getting emotional, lmao. Runrig is a great band, so sad they broke up before I had the opportunity to see them live. #ScottlishAtHeart 🏴
Scotland is an great country!!...a great nation, so you can have an idea, im Portuguese, never been in Scotland, but a big passion for Scotland has been growing inside me...now, i'm a Luso-Scotish in spirit... Scotland n Portugal in the heart!!
fucking epic, written in 1745, what an interpretation, don't normally post thoughts on sites but this has to be 1 of the most uplifting songs i've ever heard
Aye lads and lasses come and run To the sound of the highland pipe and drum Bring your old and bring your bairn Let them tell and let them learn We are Scots And then there are t'others Those who would be as we are Those from close and those from afar A dram for ye memories my beloved Da Both you and my Uncle Tam Gone from us now but strangely not From Shetland to Skye To rugged Inverness To all from Bonny Scotland Goodnight and God Bless!
I had the great good fortune to be there, they sang that song at the end just as the sun set over the loch,it was awesome. It was the summer solstice,on that day,way back, the locals walked with drums beating to the lochside, facing the sunset,on midsummer the sun sets precisely between two of the mountain peaks. That song still makes my arm hair stand...& reminds me of one of the friends I was there with, who departed too soon,Thanks for the upload.
When i hear this song i remember a friend of mine who died tooo early (only 40 years old) ... and ... we will never meet again on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. R.I.P. Kalli - gone but not forgotten!
I'm English but I lived in Scotland for 5 years, when I first heard this song it gave me shivers. I recently went back to Edinburgh for Hogmanay (New Year) and when I heard this song it meant so much, it really is one of the greatest songs ever written.
The half of me that's Scottish loves this song, as does the Welsh half of me. Sends a shiver down the spine. Loch Lomond is a beautiful part of Scotland too. Scotland
I was there at loch lomond on that evening in june , and it still has a powerful effect on me , i can't watch any of these clips without tears rolling down my face . every beat , every word is imbedded in my soul and that beautiful part of scotland , in my heart . love to all those who shared the experience x
This brought back some great memories for me but still can't believe it's been 20 years lol One of the best days ever,i'll never forget it as long as i live,50.000 people just there for a party.Great supporting bands on aswell during the day like Hothouse Flowers and Capercaille and of course who can forget the end of the gig with Loch Lomond and all the fireworks,i've never seen 50,000 people leaving a gig in such a good mood, singing Flower Of Scotland,it was awesome and never to be forgotten!!
This song brings a tear to my eye. The perfect voice and timing and most important the togetherness and happiness of a crowd that is as one person , from front the rear everybody happy and enjoying .
I know this song for many years. And I spend some time in Scotland and even at Loch Lomond. Enjoyed the time and never forget. Lovely greetings from Germany and merry Christmas for all of you here!!!
...this is the only Runrig Lead Singer who can sing and perform this ballad....he is a true Scot and really relates to his audience...Donny Munro should have sang this at " The Last Dance " concert at Stirling....I was there and Bruce was good ( no disrespect intended )but this guy is out of this world performing this track and all the rest. We all have our favourite.
I live heavy metal too. Children of Bodom plz ty! Nothing better than Scottish folk. Try the Real deal. The Corries. You won't have to endure the techno ruining this
I'm Chinese but studying in Scotland and deeply into it now. Such a beautiful country that no longer wanna leave. Scotland! Thank you very much. :) Runrig's version of Loch Lomond is the best i ever heard.

No matter your nationality, this song is beyond amazing. Music, all of it, is a matter of the heart & soul.
Especially when sung by Donnie - what a voice.
This song always get's me so emotional.
I was born in England, but my whole mothers side is from South Uist in the outer Hebrides.

Aye lads and lasses come and run
To the sound of the highland pipe and drum
Bring your old and bring your bairn
Let them tell and let them learn
We are Scots
And then there are t'others
Those who would be as we are
Those from close and those from afar
A dram for ye memories my beloved Da
Both you and my Uncle Tam
Gone from us now but strangely not
From Shetland to Skye
To rugged Inverness
To all from Bonny Scotland
Goodnight and God Bless!
Greetings from Germany ! I'll always love your country where I spent so many weeks of my life !
i was 5 and in the crowd and i still remember this gig Vivaldi and fondly
When i hear this song i remember a friend of mine who died tooo early (only 40 years old) ... and ... we will never meet again on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. R.I.P. Kalli - gone but not forgotten!
i love this song....greetings from hamburg!!!
You make tasty food there.

I'm English but I lived in Scotland for 5 years, when I first heard this song it gave me shivers. I recently went back to Edinburgh for Hogmanay (New Year) and when I heard this song it meant so much, it really is one of the greatest songs ever written.
Scotland
Vera good, perfect together with a good scotch whisky 🥰😘♥️ Greetings from Germany ... Long live SCOTLAND 🏴🏴🏴
The half of me that's Scottish loves this song, as does the Welsh half of me. Sends a shiver down the spine. Loch Lomond is a beautiful part of Scotland too. Scotland
This song rounded off my school's Halloween disco. What a night.
I was there at loch lomond on that evening in june , and it still has a powerful effect on me , i can't watch any of these clips without tears rolling down my face . every beat , every word is imbedded in my soul and that beautiful part of scotland , in my heart . love to all those who shared the experience x
This brought back some great memories for me but still can't believe it's been 20 years lol One of the best days ever,i'll never forget it as long as i live,50.000 people just there for a party.Great supporting bands on aswell during the day like Hothouse Flowers and Capercaille and of course who can forget the end of the gig with Loch Lomond and all the fireworks,i've never seen 50,000 people leaving a gig in such a good mood, singing Flower Of Scotland,it was awesome and never to be forgotten!!
one of the best concerts ever these guys were amazing and the atmosphere created by the fans too i loved every minute of it
From Alabama, this is one of the greatest videos ever.

This song brings a tear to my eye. The perfect voice and timing and most important the togetherness and happiness of a crowd that is as one person , from front the rear everybody happy and enjoying .
This is an incredible song by a great band. I visit heard this song after a visit to Scotland. A wonderful place.
