Wow his voice got so powerful with age
That drummer is more badass than most drummers..
DUDES DRUMMING ON A FREAKIN GRILL!
TOASTY TONES!!
This song has more pent up passion in its little finger than most songs put together these days
The Weber Grill percusson is awesome!!!
Except too bad they cut out the f-bomb!!
Who knew we all loved punk folk music?!
Punk and folk are the same
EPIC BASS LINES!!!!
I’m 58 years old, I lived in San Diego for about 12 years in the 80s early 90s. This band was played on 91X a lot. Although I was a poor boy back then I couldn’t buy CDs, but I always enjoyed this band. I remember thinking these are some young punks having a blast. It’s funny now that I see them they’re not so young. Still a little younger than me though. Super fun, glad I found this.
I’m 22 and I’ve been listening since I was 13! My nephew is 3 months old and I’ll be raising him to this music! Can’t let them die off easily
@@karla9319 I am 40. I've been listening to Violent Femmes since I was 20. Half of my current life. The band is terrific.
Gordon is 57, Brian is 60, Victor is 66. All that punk and looking like my weird uncles.
91X the best radio station ever
This is my favorite song to scream and tear my vocal cords to.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY
AAAFTER DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY
Aaaamen
I wanna hear Brian Ritchie yell everything all of the time
I could see him hosting at a small quaint restaurant......in that voice. hehe (small Evil laugh)
The opening vocals set the stage for this epic version. Then heavy banjo 🪕 and the weber grill as an instrument to boot
In case you couldn't tell, this is fucking awesome.
Are they using a damn BARBECUE GRILL as a drum?? Oh wow, that's awesome xD
Haha same question 😂 theyre amazing listening to them for more than 20 years now. Mostly freak magnet in the old times on cd. It is a kind of feeling that not many bands have. It is like a unique charme that come 90 % from the voice. Where unpopular feelings have its space as well as punk and singer songwriter
Lol
Lol 😆🤣😂
never mind that, how 'bout that punk ass banjo! I am reborn!
Bass player killing it, like whoa.
Holy crap, you aren’t kidding, that dude shredding.
How many punk bands with Guitarron do you know?
Just watching the intro shows just how professional these guys are....They know Exactly how this song should begin, then progress in the middle, and finally, how it should end. They simply nailed it! So fun to watch!
So awesome, Dude! DEVO forever!
Five and a half minutes of goosebumps.
Sickest live performance of this song 🔥
Love how these dudes first and foremost are all about just having fun with their live performances.
So great.
Just WOW ! After so many years they only sound BETTER !
True that!
Wow. This is up there for greatest live performances I have ever watched. Definition of killing it!
Not being able to swear sucks sorry not punk.
I was there, the audience filled in the lyrics. We had no problem with it. Later that show Billy Ficca joined them on cajon
I'm a voilent Femmes fanatic !! This was wonderful !! I love these guys so much. I've learned almost all of their songs..
One of my all time favorite bands - Violent Femmes 1983 album is still awesome
Came for the classic Violent Femmes jam. Stayed for the whisk-on-Weber action. +1.
Listening in 2021...This is awesome!... That voice... :)
i grew up listening to them!!!! RESPECTTT!!!!!!
I’m here for the bass line 🔥🔥🔥
They are unique !
Love the Femmes!! Seeing this video makes me feel fing old lol.

Is no one gonna mention the legend in the back with the sax?

@@bugluvr4evr Yes, my favourite album
@@eoinryan3275 it’s such a good one
Interpol fucking rules.
Love this song. they are so creative and fun. I just saw them in St. Louis this summer and it was so hot out. I didn't even care I just wanted to hear them. I really should have went over to the tshirt table they were supposed to be there. Boy I was dumb. I could of meeted Gordan and Brian. We were in a hurry to get out of there. Guess that comes with being old and needed to get home to bed LOL.
This band was on repeat my whole entire college daze
The banjo. Wow. The flavors.
Incredible, fine, astonishing art
Does anyone else feel like that their singing show tunes when they sing the Themmes?? I always have so much fun when I listen to them!!! Can't wait to see them in Nashville!!! 14 days counting!!!
Brilliant!!! Met them in Amherst back in "85, very cool guys!!!
These guys always bring it, but Gordon is going absolutely bonkers in this particular performance!
Growing up in Wisconsin like the band members I have seen them live at least 20 times. They play Milwaukee’s Summer Fest every year. Out draw most headliners.
The bass player is the true leader of the band
You guys still Effin' rocks !
this is real jam
I would have loved to have been at this performance.
I dont know why I've seen different live concerts where he's playing the weber grill now, but I love it!
stunningly awesome
Swing baby you're platinum!
damn the best groovy song ever"!!!....
Damn, just caught this for the first time. Covid lockdown thank you. Became a huge fan in 1986. Had tickets to see them at Irvine Meadows in SoCal but it got canceled due to lack of interest, LOL. WTF? Would love to see them to Budapest, Hungary, where I currently am now. Think I'll have to send them a request. That whole album was GOLD.
I totally love it
awesome band /song version.oh to be 21 again
O tempo passa e o som continua violento.
this song got me into a lot a trouble at MSU akers hall 1984
john calvert fantastic! I hope it was fun and worth it, no doubt it was. :)
The Album Got us In Fun trouble !!!
this sounds better than the studio version !
Great band. Need to be in rocking roll hall of fame.
OMG Woweeeeee He has still got it!!!! Rock on Brother
So awesome
Judging from all these Violent Femmes videos, you would think they had no drummer. I mean WTF? They're a power trio, he's the most innovative guy in the band, and no cameraman/director ever bothers to put his playing in the shot.
He’s not the original in these performance
YES
Nicely done boys!
love this song
Oh Hell ya !!!
Day after day i will walk and I will play but the day after today i will stop and i will start!!! (cit.)
Such an ionic voice he has!!! We always changed that last part to "grasp and reach for a line of coke" instead of leg of hope. 😆
Go Johnny Go!
love
Genial amigos.
I love how angrily brian ritchie counted everyone in
Classic...

Good thing about using a grill as a drum... steaks are ready after the show.

Memories of hearing this at VCU party with boyfriend
Huzzah, makes me feel fifteen again.
I chose acoustic bass because aside from Mariachi, it had not been used.

I once saw them use a toaster and crock pot as a percussion set.
