'Desecrated by Donald Trump': Widow of former marine calls out Trump’s Arlington photo-op

- Gold Star widow and Marine veteran Kait Wyatt calls out Donald Trump’s “inappropriate” photo op at Arlington National Cemetery this week, which occurred four years after Trump pulled off a similar stunt near her husband’s grave. “Arlington National Cemetery is a visible reminder of the dead who made this country possible… It shouldn’t have to be explained that this is not an opportunity for a photo op,” she tells Velshi. She also calls out Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, a former marine, for not standing up to Trump. “I’m demanding accountability from Corporal Vance on how this egregious trespassing on sacred ground, how it can be worth your integrity to work for a man like that.”

I’m a New Zealander … I visited Arlington Cemetery in 1986 while on a year long stay in America. The sacredness was palpable especially the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Everyone involved with Trump’s gig (because that’s what it was) is accountable.

I am a Canadian and I have been to Arlington. It was a somber visit. Few if any words were spoken. I was there for over an hour. Respect is what every veteran, alive or dead deserves.

Obama has photos from 2009 when he paid his respects. Note: not an election year and there was no fanfare. The pictures taken were by the Defense Department and White House. The images were not used for a campaign ad.
Biden went to reflect just before ending Operation Enduring Freedom. Let’s not forget his son Beau was an Iraq Veteran that lost his life to cancer, most likely from the burnpits we were exposed to over there.
I personally know two men that lost their lives in that conflict. Sgt Adam Perkins USMC of Sacramento, CA and Sgt Michael A. Cinco USAF of Mercedes, TX.

Every American should make a pilgrimage to Arlington just to feel the solemnity of beholding the sanctity of sacrifice given. My uncle Stephen, a sergeant major who faithfully served this great country during Vietnam, is interred there. Every time my family and I go there, I am deeply humbled by the energy that seethe up from the earth into my heart and soul. Thank you, Uncle Steve and all the others who served!

I visited ANC as a child to see the grave of my great uncle. A fighter pilot in ww2 that was shot down. As a CHILD, I understood the need for respect in a cemetery. Especially one of thousands of veterans.

Very true words. He dislikes the military and I can just imagine what he felt for a female soldier. He says he's going to rebuild the military when he goes back in. If he goes back in I fear he's going to want our country like the royals 1 leader until death.
