      It was a hangover from the EMT colours. EMT livery looks much better, more modern, and cleaner looking. Classy yet understated - like the GWR, and Grand Central liveries.

      That might be because the interviewer asked him to run through the fleet plan by class. If he hadn't I'd have asked him to do it again :-) (yes - I asked the questions and he gave the answers I wanted for the people we expect will watch the video...) ITV did a more general interview if you're not interested in the detail...

    What was wrong with the Class 222s? The Class 180 is unreliable. Do these new franchises have common sense?

      @@TaxiwayKilo no they are not the class 180 have had nothing but problems with gwr and hull trains

      I think the class 180s are only temporary to cover the time between the HSTs retiring and the new Hitachis being delivered - the 222s will still be operating alongside them.

      The Class 180s are only temporary to replace the HSTs which aren't compliant with current regs. The 222s wont be retired until the 800s arrive in 2022 - these will then replace both the 222s and 180s, running in both 5 car and 10 car formats.

      Class 810 (formerly Class 804) are replacing the Class 43 HST & Class 222.

    He mentioned the 170s coming in on the regional fleet but he also said they would be running alongside new stock. I wonder what that may be. "The regional lines are the lifeblood of the regions. They will be served by either brand new units or refurbished ones" I hope we get FLIRTs like GA

    Who chose THAT as a livery! It looks like the Pullman of old but so odd on a modern unit. Lighter colours look so much nicer in my opinion.

      Especially on the Grimsby to Newark Northgate Route. Still could be worse they could have had Pacers still in rolling stock like Northern which still come to Lincoln

      Chereon Jalloh some of EMR trains will stop at Bedford. But Bedford is mostly served by Thameslink & West Midlands Trains.

      @@millercool21 LNWR/WMR go to Bedford on the Marston Vale line (Bedford to Bletchley) using class 230 D-trains (Ex London Underground stock)

      When I used the BR Crewe-Derby service, from September 1957 for 10 years, we had lovely 1st generation 3 car DMU's later classed as 104's. Built by BRCW & very roomy & comfortable. :-)

    How about more trains stopping at stations like Netherfield instead of whizzing past without stopping?
    Netherfields in a built up area and would benefit from a decent rail service

    I like the way the ‘Corby service’ was quickly brushed over! An EMU with 3 +2 seats for Corby and Wellingborough. No direct link now between Luton, Bedford and Wellingborough to Leicester. Stations south of Kettering now get a downgraded quality of service. That wasn’t mentioned!

      exactly! before emr was a thing I got the train quite a lot of the time from derby to luton airport parkway directly. now, I have to change 3 times! EMR connect shouldn't be called emr connect, it's disconnecting people from other destinations!

    I hope East Midlands Railway can retain the Nottingham-Norwich route and possibly extend from Norwich to Derby, Birmingham New Street, Sheffield and Leicester. But at least they have taken over from East Midlands Trains that Stagecoach lost the franchise.

      Why, I worked for BR in the 70s it was appalling. Line closures no investment old crap stock. The only good thing was HST which was meant as a stop gap for APTE. Also taxes on everyone will have to rise to pay for your utopia.I guess you are also in favour of the closed shop for the industry too.

      I started to work for BR InterCity &ScotRail in 1986. I saw the difference between BR&Privatisation. ScotRail was the last to be Privatised. I worked Class 47 Push Pulls&HSTs on the E&Gs. In the 90s I worked 60009 as Osprey&Union of South Africa. I loved working the Caledonian Sleepers with the Class 47s,37s,86s,87s&90s. The old loco hauled train's provided more coaches than the 158s that replaced them.

    2 years down the line & we've still seen no movement on the 360's being refurbished. I don't buy covid as an excuse as other operators have managed to get refurbishments done through the pandemic.

    Shame they want to replace the class 158s. There is more seating capacity on a 2 car 158 than a 2 car 170.

      I agree. Sadly it isn't up to the TOCs to decide, it's up to Network Rail and central government. TOCs order bi-modes because it's the best use of their semi-electrified network. They basically have bi-modes forced upon them by the government!

    How about instead of putting all the money into new trains onto the mainline, Get the regional services up to scratch! 'New 170s' Like hell are they new they are from 99/2000 and your still running grungy old Sprinters from the 80s. 'The MML needs new stock' No it doesn't 222s were refurbished quite recently and run fine. Give us the speel that the 170s will be refurbished, No they haven't and they have just got a new paint job still the nasty green interior from West Mids Trains and the seats are manky and absolutely shot with some you sit on plastic with all the padding gone.

      321 Dustybin What are you talking about. The Class 357s will not be cascaded to EMR. c2c will not get rid of them. c2c are replacing the Class 387/3 with the Class 720/6 Aventra that is scheduled to enter service next year.
