i’ve been using my iPad Pro as my main device since December 2020, i’m only a student, but the pencil and magic keyboard makes it really convenient and easy to use, I changed my old laptop for the iPad, and it works superbly. its grate for taking notes, both with the apple pencil and with the magic keyboard.
But how do you Write your essays? I used the iPad Pro aswell, but had to change it for a MacBook, due to the fact That the Microsoft Office Apps on the iPad sucked!! For example the Word App, doesn‘t offer the function (bibliography etc) I really Need to write my essays for my studies. 😅

I know this sounds really extra, but I was tired of having to go pay to print my math notes every day (cause I live on a college campus where we're not allowed to have our own printers in my dorm building) so I used the money that I got back from a covid relief fund to my school and bought an iPad and apple pencil so I can download and edit all of my notes and it's game changing, especially if you have an apple laptop because your files automatically show up on there and you can choose to download which ones you want to have on the iPad, and I've been using it to make weekly calendars and daily to-do lists and it's been super helpful
One reason I’m in with all Apple products from iPhone to Apple Watch to MacBook and iPad etc. is because it makes everything so simple with iCloud. I love having everything be able to sync up to all my notes and data so effortlessly. I wouldn’t want to go back to past devices. I’ve been fully Apple since 2007 and I’ve checked out other phones, computers, tablets, and wearables but Apple continues to be the best. Seem less, simple, refined, and versatile.
Magic keyboard really changes everything for me on an iPad. Sure it’s not a computer, but it essentially functions as a computer for me. Plus convenience and easy makes the iPad easier and more enjoyable to use versus my touch screen HP.
I bought a refurbished iPad 6th generation in April. Although it isn’t the newest device on the market I’m totally happy with it!! As a student I mainly use it for taking notes with GoodNotes or sometimes take zoom classes when I’m not at home since I use my MacBook for that. The iPad is more handy than my laptop and when I have to go to Uni I always take it with me. My iPad has 128 GB of storage and that’s definitely enough; I need this much storage!
I have used an ipad pro as my main and only device for several years now. All I would like is that apple continues to develop it thinking of it as a tablet. Yes the keyboard folio is great but not for my use as that for me counts as having a laptop. I really like the tablet only design to work and doodle using the pencil. I only use the on-screen keyboard and have a logi mouse for spreadsheets. So like you said the experience is different for everyone so go ahead and have fun exploring yours
Love the video! My iPad used to be an addition to my macbook, but lately it’s been te other way around! I’m a 2nd year law student and the iPad is so good for notetaking etcetera. I now only really use my macbook for editing large documents, but for almost everything else I prefer the iPad. Also much lighter when I have in-person classes and need to carry it around campus 😃
When the first 9.7 iPad Pro came out my parents bought it for me. I didn’t have a laptop yet, but back then I didn’t really need it. I used it to watch TH-cam and Netflix, study using quizlet and take notes. I loved it. I had the Apple Pencil and the Smart Folio keyboard but mostly just used the pencil. And I used that iPad for five years. When I started university I decided to upgrade to the newest M1 iPad Pro. I’m so happy with it. I use it along side a MacBook Air and it’s making my life at university so much easier. 100% recommend it
Great video Tom! As a creator who solely uses an iPad for photos and videos I definitely agree on you on this one. There’s a fine line between a laptop and an iPad but we just gotta appreciate what iPads can do these days. They’re such amazing tools now! 🔥
New subscriber here. I bought an iPad to edit manuscripts. It's way easier and more intuitive for me to mark up the manuscript on the left side and write corresponding notes on the right side in split screen, instead of trying to edit the manuscript via typing on the laptop. There's just something about writing by hand that connects better with the creative side of the brain.
You made a very great point in this video. I ignored Apple’s marketing and use my iPad Pro as an addition to my MacBook Air-not a replacement. Doing so, allows me to maximize the capabilities of both devices.
For me iPad Pro has replaced my laptop. I do everything on it. Work, social media, Photo and video editing. Glad I got the 12.9 inch with cellular. It’s a dream using it
Totally agree with you too many people title their videos “why I’m selling my M1 IPad Pro” and hit the same points saying it can’t do what their laptops can. I always thought of it as something in between. I personally only use an IPad but I’m not doing anything that requires a laptop, but its more than capable for the things I’m doing and I just enjoy the platform better.
The magic keyboard changed the iPad for me, I was always on the fence of buying it because it was $300 but back in May, Amazon had the magic keyboard on sale for 200 and ever since it came in, I don’t think there has been a day that I haven’t used it. Really changes the experience for sure
As an Artist all I need is my Apple Pencil and im good. I find that typing on the Virtual Keyboard is faster using Swipe or Scribble, than typing on a regular keyboard is for me (not a fast typer). So I scribble all my notes or anything I need to type and I love it. Saves time, space, and money using the iPad with Scribble and Swipe rather than an expensive Keyboard!
Super late to your video! I was actually helping my mom VESA mount her two 27” monitors for her work desk and she loves them! I told them I got the idea from a certain TH-camr I watch every weekend 👉🏾👈🏾 (psst, that’s you!) Still a great video, I actually learned a lot! Can’t wait to push my iPad usage to new heights! I’ve currently been using it as a second display for my iMac!
I use and love the ipad Mini! Use it for reading in bed in the evening (love how light it is), for watching Netflix, Apple+ oder Disney+ in the train when I am out to my way to work and the kids use it for school and to play apps. At the moment we have the iPad mini 2 and love it. We will get the 6th gen soon, maybe for christmas :)
Tom I loved this video! Often times I find myself not using my iPad enough, so watching your iPad videos helps me appreciate what an amazing device the iPad is. Thanks for sharing!
I have only just found your channel but I really like your content. I started searching for more in depth tutorials and guides when I got my iPad - and I can honestly say I keep coming back to your videos over anyone else! Keep up the good work!!
I’m iPad only since October 2017 (iPad Pro 9.7”) and never looked back. I had a 12” MacBook back then but sold it when the first 11” Pros came along. Only hard thing was to reset my computing “muscle memory”

In my personal day to day experiences, my opinion (going back to my gen 1 iPad,) is when you add a keyboard case and stylus to an iPad, there is no difference between an iPad and laptop. I put my laptops into storage and I have never looked back. I just took delivery on a new iPad 10 and over the last week, my opinion has only grown stronger. That being said, it most certainly depends on the user and his or her needs. Love your work, keep going.
You hit the nail on the head- the best feature of the ipad once you decide to try it, is the pure enjoyment. It is just a more enjoyable device for me overall.
I was given an Ipad by my sister because she literally had no uses for it. I'm trying to come up with something my phone, Kindle, or desktop doesn't do as well or better. I'm having fun with some sketchpad apps and some music synthesizers. I've got a few note taking apps as well. For right now it's basically a toy for me. It has a keyboard (which I used just enough to make sure it worked) and an Apple Pencil knockoff which is fine. The main issue I've found is it's an awkward form factor whether at my desk or in bed. If I go out, my phone has everything I generally need. I'm certainly not paying for apps for the time being, especially as they seem to be more expensive much of the time than similar ones for my phone.
Man, your videos are amazing. Quality is top notch. Quick question: What is the anime playing in the background? I think you should add them to your description. Lol

The iPad pro is lovely. I've got the non pro one that can still use the Apple Pencil V1 and I love it. I use it for drawing, writing on PDFs, writing journals in Drafts, video editing, podcast editing and recording, and then general browsing. I have a desktop but I spend most of my time on the iPad.
I'm a teacher, and I was considering buying a new laptop because my old one is pretty, well old. But I was also thinking that the hardest thing i do is have a bunch of webpages open on the side of a word document when I'm planning my classes. Would an iPad do this better than a laptop, or would it at least be cheaper?
Nice job, as always, on this one. Not to make this a Samsung Galaxy Tab S vs iPad comparison but having owned both, the writing experience with the S Pen is unparalleled. They don’t even come close. The Apple Pencil just looks better.
