I've just finished this kit, no aftermarket parts, and even with all of the pitfalls, it's a gorgeous model. I wish that I could send a photo, I even used the smoke ring decals.
I'll be getting one of these...for sure.....I have a pacific models one in 1/32 scale that's about 16 years old....which was basic but beautiful...cheers mate Dave in Australia 🇦🇺
Oh boy! Another kit I "need"! It looks beautiful, and I can't wait to see it on your bench! I have to agree with you on those tires though, looks like the crew chief wasn't doing their job servicing the tires. Sorry the Tempest is giving you a hard time. Looking forward to the next video.
Looks to be a great kit, it should make a grest addition to your collection, looking forward to the build seriex, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the review! I'm still not 100% convinced that the kit quality is up to the price they ask for it, but it is nice to have a large scale version finally. Seriously thinking to get one.
Has anyone noticed the port wing seems a little longer than the starboard wing? I believe this was done on the original to counter wingtip stall at low airspeed/high power combinations.
An impressive kit of the early Folgore. I'm not much for rivets on aircraft kits, if the manufacturer adds them fine but I don't go out of my way to do them. I was surprised at seeing the smoke ring decals included with the kit and here's hoping they work out for you.
I know that lots of people look for them on kits and it’s a personal preference which is fine. Im less bothered about them and I’m still undecided about what if anything to add. I’ve looked through several photos of 202s and I can’t see any rivets on the airframe at all so it might be a peculiar construction method or maybe the airframe was puttied. I’ll investigate further before the build.
Thanks for the response. You may have a point on the puttied airframe. I am hardly an expert on Italian aircraft. Having rivets on the models a personal preference also. Kotare got the right balance on the Spitfire. I have built the Hasegawa Fw-109D and ZM Ta-152 and ended up riveting the airframe and they are very prominent on the real aircraft.
Thanks Steve, got the ICM Gladiator waiting! I wonder what the fit of this will be, I've only ever tried one Italeri kit, it ended up in the landfill, appalling fit!
Shame about the rivets, in my opinion, but I really like this kit. And probably the 205 version that’s coming out. I’ll use a riveting tool if this gets on my bench, I find the smooth panels too stark on models in this scale. But that’s me. 😅 Thank you for the review.
Are the ends of the MG's slide moulded? Can't tell from the vid, but the sprue looks like they might be. I was going to add this one to my wish list, until I saw the price! Wow, that's expensive for a 1/32 fighter!
I don’t want to be a downer but I’m upset that there is very little rivet detail. Other than that the kit looks incredible and I would be surprised if there is any difficulty knowing how italieris Italian planes go together. I would also not be surprised if there is going to be aftermarket resin or 3d print parts to convert this into a mc 205. As well as wheels and wheel well details.
@@TheModelShed out of all the planes I think this plane needs it the least. The smoke rings will provide enough to look at while not making the plane “too complicated” looking. I’m excited to see the final product!
I believe Pacific Coast did one, so did Special hobby. I must say, after watching this video and despite all of the interesting aspects of the kit, I find myself a little more underwhelmed by it. I’m not sure I feel any great urgency to buy one.

well done I’ve just got some resin wheels and a Quinta studios cockpit for mine - hope to build it later in the year

Thanks Dave I’m sure this one will be a bit more state of the current art.
Wow, those smoke ring decals are a tour de force
Yes they’re interesting- hope they’ll look ok on the model.

Yes I’m looking forward to building it
Nice review Steve, can’t wait for the build, got this the other week, + the Tempest love watching your builds. Thanks Kev.
Cheers Kev 👍

Cheers Les 👍

It is expensive - agreed but as you say it should make a nice model.
Thanks for the review Steve
You’re welcome 👍
Looks like a cool kit.
Looking forward to when you build the Gladiator.
Thanks Paul as soon as I get the Tempest done I’ll be on with the gladiator
I will definitely be adding this to the list of future builds.... Up next for me is the 1/32nd special hobby Whirlwind
I have that one as well Nigel - working out the build schedule is tough these days.
That's lovely!
Yes nice kit but a bit expensive unfortunately 😬

Thanks yes I think rivets are a matter of personal choice. like you I can live without them. They’re generally hard to make out from a scale distance.
PCM released a 202 and 205 in 1/32 after the Craftworks kit. I have two PCM 202’s.
As much as I’m enjoying the SH Tempest, I’m chuffed to hear that the Gladiator is next on your build list.
Me too! I have ICM's mk1 and am looking forward to building it.
Yes but it will be a while given the fight the tempest is putting up 😬😬
So funny I was just looking at this kit but not available in the US yet
Ikr? Any word when it will be?
It is available now online through the Sprue Brothers website in the USA
Thanks for the review. For me good riveting detail is critical, especially in a large scale. Other than that it appears to be a nice kit.

If the CR42 is anything to go by Dave the build should be good. Looking forward to it but that Tempests in the way ATM

It bothers me less Ronald - Looking at photos it’s very difficult to trace any rivets - but I know what you mean.
@ I understand. ❤️

It will be to many people but I’m not too concerned about it. I’m still not sure if I’ll rivet this kit.

Is it a video artifact, or is one of the MGs shorter than the other (like by 4-5mm)?
Are you thinking to display the engine, or have it buttoned-up?
Iirc it’s the same staggered layout in the Bf-109 with the same inverted DB601.
I believe Pacific Coast did one, so did Special hobby. I must say, after watching this video and despite all of the interesting aspects of the kit, I find myself a little more underwhelmed by it. I’m not sure I feel any great urgency to buy one.
Thanks Mike that’s fair enough some things grab you and others don’t 👍
Must have
Nice kit let’s see how it goes together 🤔
Is this Available NOW,which model shop did you get it from.
In the UK yes: this one’s from Hannants
WHY IT CAN NOT IN 1/35 SCALE ?
🤷🏼♂️
Step 10, WTF
May scare me away from this kit. I'll break the landing gear for sure.
WTF indeed. I’ll find a work around that method when I get to it.
The Folgore means Grayhound. The Mc 205 Veltro means lightning/Thunderbolt
A quick check on translators tells me it’s the other way round. Veltro: Greyhound or boar hound.
@TheModelShed seems your right I thought it was the other way around 🤔
Hey,you know how to make resin parts.Just add some Putty at the right place and make your own wheels 😉
👍👍🤔
Is it just me, or are those fuselage panel lines awfully wide?
They are a bit but I think they’ll ok ok under paint and the smoke rings.
Please don't use a scalpel to point.
Please be reassured I don’t when I’m in public. 🤔
Lol TH-cam is broken can't edit comments 🤣🤣the new YT update is rubbish..
😬😬
