It looks like the fax machine never became obsolete! It has just evolved. I would still have a paper version in a Plan B folder, but I would put an adhesive note on to note that it has been scanned. It has been rough teaching online since August. I do miss that third dimension of being in the classroom with the students, but this is the safest option for now. Thanks and take care.
I cut off a bit of the top right-hand corner to show that I’ve digitized it. Just not quite ready to toss everything yet. But getting there now I know the digital system (we use GSuite) is working.
I love it! Thank you for sharing! This can also be used for storing data on individual kids for when you have iep meetings and parent conferences. The is soooo awesome! On the flip side I’m on quarantine all this week. My school and other schools have teachers testing positive for covid 19 at an alarming rate. One teacher in my school is in icu. It’s so sad but trying to make the best of this situation. Take care and stay safe.❤️
I hope that you will be safe. I hope that the teacher in intensive care will get better. It must be very stressful at times having to be in person and having to be concerned about the possibility of infections at your site. Please take care.

Great video! Love seeing your videos even though I’m not a teacher. What I will say is buy an external hard drive, and back up all your files there. That way if anything happens to your computer, you don’t lose everything! 😊

1-You asked. First year teacher. Also second grade, though I’ve been watching you all the years... To be honest, I’m drowning. On a hybrid trying to cover 2 days of learning into 1. Only have students 2 days/wk. the other half of the alphabet the other two days in person and 1 day all online-staff meetings, etc. Days they aren’t in person are online learning. I don’t know what I’ve said to which group and feel like I’m lost most of the time. It’s very hard to have the kids sit for so long through teaching. However, the need to get so much instruction into little time and the whole Covid thing with social distancing has made creatively including movement and interaction a major struggle. Honestly, my goals are to make sure the kids feel and hear they are loved every day, encourage a confidence and love of school/learning, and to move the needle in the right direction for them/whatever that means. Not a small task, but not all the hopes I had going into the year. Every assignment with comprehension, graphic organizers, or whatever skill-I try to use an SEL book of some sorts. This is all hard, but to be 7yo and going through this-that’s some big feelings for little people.
2-would you be willing to do a video or share how you organize your stuff digitally. So, your game for example-what folder would you put it in? Why? How do you know where to look for that sheet later? How do
You organize/file the other stuff-students files, PD, PLC, etc? I’d LOVE some guidance and advice!
I'm literally in the same boat. 2nd grade first year teaching and moved to hybrid a week and a half ago. I feel like I'm failing.
I organize by topic. Ex: "Math" folder then within "Math" folder I would break the materials down into smaller sub-folders. These can be graphic organizers for math, units, general math concepts, etc.

This looks like normal scanner functionality - saving a picture as PDF and then add text as an overlay to the PDF in adobe, but not edit the original. IMO another ideal state to support moving paper forms to digital formats would be changing .PDF to Text files (.TXT). There's software that does this - if you can imagine it, a tool probably exists.
I’m about ready to buy this for my daughter’s teachers!! They are now scanning or taking a photo and uploading into Classroom, we are printing to fill out, the taking another picture and sending it back to the teacher 🙄

I’ve been able to use our big Xerox copier to make PDF’s. Not as useful as this though so thanks for sharing.

I love the idea of this, because I struggle with all the paperwork. However, this is out of my price range, and district won’t reimburse for anything. Is there anything good in a cheaper price range?
This is pretty cool! I’m still in school to be a teacher and have binders full of notes and what not of ideas for when I’m teaching. The struggle with paper flow is real!
Are you in person yet?
I like the idea of a mini scanner, but it's out of my price range. This is something the school would have to buy for me. But I've been using the scanner on my printer more, and i do wish it were quicker. But eh.

Quite pricey, however to have so much less paper, in any environment, not just teaching, it could be another workplace and at home, it would be a great investment. Have to investigate the options for the UK.

What do the Pages look like when you print them after being scanned? Is the quality good?
imo the pages look great! I have a laser printer and the printouts looks like the original. Much better than taking a phot with your phone and printing that.
