I worked on the G model as an ejection seat or egress system mechanic/specialist . Boy did the BUFF change from the D to the G. It really is amazing what man can do and did with aviation. This hero flew this beast which came off the assembly line literally only 53 years post Kitty Hawk. And this airframe is still the backbone of our bomber fleet! The aircraft I worked on were older than me. I was assigned to SAC 1988-1990 at Griffiss AFB, NY.

Thanks for the walk around with glimpses of March Field. My dad was assigned there to the 320th Bomber Wing SAC, March AFB, Riverside, CA, from June of 1953 to November of 1953. His job was maintenance of the bomb wing assembly. He requested to take the exam for the Aviation Cadet Program. His score was high enough to be admitted to that program. He left March Field to become a military pilot and commissioned officer. He flew bombers (most often B-26s), fighters (F-100s and F4C Phantoms in Vietnam) and trainers (T-38s). But he got his first Air Force job at March Field.

It's great to have a pilot from that era, and the plane with original instrumentation.

Thank you. I grow up in Sunnymead from 75-86. My father worked at the March AFB Hospital. Thanks for sharing.
