I was on holiday in Samos as a kid, in the mid 80's, sitting on the beach suddenly 2 A7's flashed by at lowest level.
That definitely made an impression.
Great to see my good friend Manolis sharing the stories he tells so well about his love of the the A7. You won’t find a more humble guy. Look forward to part two!
I am privileged to have met “Lou”. I consider him a legend. Thank you for this interview.
He certainly is. Cheers.
Thank you Lou for your captivating stories, you're great!!
great interview! Intresting to see how attached he was to the A7, although he also flew the F16. Cant wait for the next part. Cheers!
Cheers!
It's great to hear these tales from a talented Hellenic AF A-7 driver! And he's a fellow Cretan! Legend!
Fantastic interview!
Thanks!
A cool jet. Thanks Lou and Mike👍
Cheers!
Great interview ❤ thanks for your service from Samos island ! We are always be proud 😊
Glad you enjoyed it.
My UPT T-37 instructor was a former A-7D pilot. He loved it. Great aircraft.
Great interview, thank you very much!
Cheers
Nice interview! I have read that the USN and USAF had the most accurate tactical platform in the A-7 throughout the 70s and into the 80s until the F-16 and F/A-18 came on line.
Cheers
The F-111 was a superior attack aircraft to any of these. It was a medium bomber that was fast and known as a sniper.
@@warfarenotwarfair5655 The F-111 had spped and range, sure. But it's avionics were getting on in age somewhat by the 80s. Only the F-111F model with its part digital equipment and Pave Tack pod could hope to compete with the A-7D/E F-16, F/A-18, F-15E and Tornado in terms of accuracy with unguided weapons.
I wonder why the boss didn't just let him fly home in the early hours of the morning from a safer airport? Glad it worked out. And he's not wrong that quantity has a quality all its own. I wouldn't want to have to defend and intercept 100+ A-7s!
Have you ever had anyone on who'd been on the A-7 and the A-6? Would love to hear about how they compared.
A-6 was more advanced as it was built for attack. The A-7 was a bastardized F-8 Crusader.
@warfarenotwarfair5655 I'm aware of that, that's why I'd be interested in the impressions of someone who's actually flown both. A-6 high tech bomb truck vs. A-7 fairly low tech ground attack . Single cockpit vs. Side by side...
You should also try to find portuguese pilots. Portugal used them for quite some time
