  • Hygger double sponge filter review. The dual double sponge filter setup adds tons of biological filtration to your fish tank. The hygger brand sponge filter has a built in canister for ceramic media. The setup for this filter was fairly easy and seamless.
    My personal review on this product is five stars because of the quality and mass of this filter. All the other competitors on the market are usually half the size and don’t have the added ceramic filtration. I’m really excited to have this product and I will probably be buying more of them down the road for my other fish tanks.

    The best part about these is that if you get 2, or have another sponge filter that will fit that size sponge, you can leave it in the tank for a good long while then pull one of the sponges off and replace it with a new one and then use the established sponge to jumpstart a new tank

    "is the exclamation point necessary? ". Why yes, lots of negative reviews of people leaving the filters in and saying things like, "I did not receive extra filters" or "there is very little flow".....

    Cool video. Would it do any good to add carbon inside with the bio balls? I’m just getting into the hobby and I’m looking at this filter currently

      Carbon isn't needed unless your trying to remove something from the water and with this design I would think carbon would be expelled from the lift tube and into your tank as well. If you want or need to run carbon a box filter or a hang on back would be more what you need.

      My double sponge filter has been running for months in my 55 gallon tank with no negative issues. I am also running a Fluval 407 to keep my water column pristine.😊

    I have been doing research on this Hygger sponge filter for the 15-55 gallon tank. From some of the articles & videos I’ve seen the water movement is very strong & apparently it’s somewhat loud. I am going to have a 40 gallon fresh water natural tank as soon as all of the setup is finished. Do you think the water movement would be too strong? This is one issue I’ve seen the most complaints about along with it being rather loud. If so, is it going to drown out my TV? 😂

    Do you still need a air pump with the powered sponge filter

    Hi, since these filters take 30 days to grow beneficial bacteria, do I need to run this Hygger 908 and my hang on the back type, or just put this one in. Also, do I use chemicals when I add water or to prevent ammonia & nitrites? Thank you!!

    • @daisusaikoro
      @daisusaikoro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whichever filter you use, it will take time to establish beneficial bacteria on a new tank unless you use "starter" material which already has bacteria on it.
      If you use tap water it's best to use something to get rid of chemicals in tap water (unless you leave it out for awhile).

    Hi I have installed one but it's giving out a slow current, I tried connecting a more powerful pump, but still the same slow flow, it's more like just a trickle, is this normal with this filter? Thanks.

    Keep that predator (cat) out of your fish room. Not even put it a lot of stress onto fish but their claws, paws, fur and everything else inside their mouth are so full with nasty bacteria that you do not want near your pets.(Fact of Wildlife rescue= a single scratch no matter how big or a tiny hole from a Tooth will kill any small animal in 48 hours as a result of the bacteria a cat carries.),
    It really is cruel to have it in your fish room.Not to mention that you can see that bacteria of every footprint of.a cat under special light.

      I have 15 cats and fish. Not a problem. Try getting a bite from a human, now that's some nasty bacteria.
