It's when Smash becomes a part of you that when your losses make you feel like an unsuccessful person. Factoring in the stakes and how close the set was, this was a heartbreaking loss.
That's got to be so conflicting for MkLeo, you can tell he has a lot of empathy for Zackray, but it wouldn't mean anything if he sandbagged. They're both here to win, they're going to try their hardest, and MkLeo won again this time. But you can tell he still feels for Zackray a lot, it has to be conflicting to watch someone come so close to achieving their goal of beating you. It was an amazing set, and so close too. Everyone's rightfully proud of Zackray, he's already improved so much and gone so far, and he's only just getting started.
Just think about how Zackray must've felt especially considering how he lost to leo in evo. Leo completely dominated him at evo (most likely due to nerves). THIS SET WAS AMAZING. They were both really in top form and it came down to the wire in the end, anyone would breakdown after losing your chance to beat the best after being so close.
Also Zackray said on Twitter that he'll do even better next time so he hasn't lost hope and we can expect a rematch in the far future. These two both Leo and Zackray are amazing players.
Zackray's composure when playing people like Leo is so insane in my opinion. He doesn't get as noticeably nervous vs the best anymore and still takes games off them. Also credit to Leo who adapted to Rob so quickly. They've both amazing.

I was watching this on live and it got so intense that I couldn't even blink. I was cheering for Zackray since I'm a great fan of him and he had lost against Leo at EVO just a week before this game. He fought really well and got so close. I literally cried when I saw him on the floor like that. It was heartbreaking, but at the same time, I was so proud of him fighting so well against Leo, the absolute top player. Zackray will be stronger and better and I really hope to see him win the game next time. This game definitely deserves to be called one of the best matches in the SSBU history. He has crazy consistent kill confirms, recovery options, off stage pressure, frame data, etc. joker is so good he gets heavily rewarded for getting his ass kicked. Consistently beating Leo should also be possible, I can't see Leo having that 50+ win streak like ZeRo did in Smash 4.

Watching the end of game 5 was absolutely crushing, even when just sitting and watching it on the live-stream. I think everyone wanted Zackray to clutch it, but instead, up air drag down destroyed our hopes and dreams.

Man I know mkleo is the goat, but sometimes I genuinely feel bad for him. It’s so obvious people root against him. Like the whole crowd is against him only because he always wins. That has to take its toll on someone.

Why do you hate Joker in particular? It’s Leo winning these majors, not Joker.
Like I said, I love Leo. He is a great competitor. However, it is clear that joker doesn’t have any tide turning weaknesses. He has crazy consistent kill confirms, recovery options, off stage pressure, frame data, etc. joker is so good he gets heavily rewarded for getting his ass kicked. I just don’t like how he seems a little too over powered. Just my opinion. Who cares what I think lol.
Cody Parsons I won’t argue that Joker isn’t a great character, because he is. But you said you don’t like seeing Joker win majors. I don’t follow smash too closely, but I don’t even know if another Joker has won an A tier event outside of Leo. I just think saying you hate seeing Joker win these events, but like Leo doesn’t make sense, since Leo is the only Joker winning them. Not trying to be hostile btw, just trying to show you that you were kind of contradicting yourself. Also, if Joker didn’t exist, I’m sure Leo would just find another character to have the same success with.
