It’s my favorite.. the expanded edition is a must hear for all the extras, I went ahead and got the deluxe version on vinyl and can’t find a dull moment.. would’ve LOVED to have seen them back at that point, the studio singles are all great but really fall flat in comparison to these live performances.
Always something different from Airplay Beats! Love how eclectic you guys are and how you appreciate MUSIC, regardless of genre or style. AND NOTHING LIKE SOME WHO TO GET READY FOR THE WEEKEND!
ahh, that Bo Didley rhythm. Those Brits were so influenced by the great American R&B folks. Fantastic album, I wore that thing out in high school! An epic My Generation and medley on that album just hooked me forever.
Yes, the My Generation jam on Live at Leeds is up there with live performances by Zeppelin, Floyd and Hendrix as examples of live Rock at its very best, it becomes more than just music but a primal force that puts you in an alternate reality for a time. Awesome stuff!
@vicprovost2561 agree! Bands today don't seem to jam any more and express themselves as this energized unit, building that kind of groove leading to a cathartic conclusion.
IMO, their best (Who's Next) was just around the corner from what we witness here. That aside, their live shows were heads and tails better than anything else going on at the time. RIP Moonie and Ox.....
The live footage is not from the Leeds concert but it's different clips from the isle of wight 1970 concert. But, live at leeds is right up there amongst the greatest live albums ever!!
I always loved this performance in that it demonstrates the different personalities that make up the band. One in a workers jumpsuit, one in a halloween skeleton outfit, one t-shirt and jeans, and a rockstar fringe outfit
You need to check out My Generation from this album. It'a an EPIC 15 minute medley with one incredible riff after another. No one was playing with such raw power and energy then.
the Who at their peak this live at Leeds Univ. performance is considered one of the consummate live performances ever. listen to the whole concert all the way through beginning to end gentlemen., you won't be disappointed
I feel like their bassist John Entwistle doesn’t get the props he deserves. The rest of them are such showmen it’s understandable. Entwistle is one of the great rock bassists of all time.
Wow! You guys, and your fans, are hitting it out of the park with your song choices! Live at Leeds is considered one of the best live rock albums, along with Get Your Ya Yas Out (Stones) abd Live at Fillmore West (Allman Bros). Listening to Live At Leads, is to stand at the foot of rock gods. So much great trivia about this album, which is worthy from beginning to end. Magic Bus is my personal favorite track (along with Daltrey cracking up singing "I want it"), and many others are not to be missed, including Sparks. All my best to your family.
Live At Leeds might be the greatest live album in modern rock history. This is an AWESOME visual/audio print of the encore. Where the hell on film, however, is the rest of this incredible concert? Good job, guys.
This video is a blend of video from the Isle of Wight concert with the audio from the Live at Leeds album. It can confuse those that are unaware of what is actually going on.

Okay, guys. The video is from the Isle of Wight festival. The audio is from the Live at Leeds album. That's why it doesn't quite match up. You may have noticed that.
@@AirplayBeatslook you guys are great reactors and such but you are terrible at researching. The audio quality of this video sucked, but high quality versions exist on TH-cam easily.
@mkap931 Right?!?! Great minds think alike because they definitely belong in that list. My 1st concert was The Kinks when I was 14. Awesome band & thanks for sticking up for them 🙂 Take care!

When it came to the roughest toughest wildest and hardest Rock band on the face of the planet back then in 1963, the early 60's, The Who was that band! They pioneered a screaming front man, Roger Daltry, who jumped around doing cartwheels & flips & tossing n twirling his mike! Pete Townsend doing cartwheel strumming on his guitar while jumping up & down and Keith Moon pounding wildly on his drums, according to music critics everywhere & the public, The Who was wildest and loudest band around!!! 😎

This live version of magic bus is completely different than the single. Which was a success by the way. Notice the drummer, Keith Moon, doesn’t use a high hat. 🕊❤️🎼
Great reaction. Simply put, The Who are legends! It is my understanding that Magic Bus is a reference to LSD and Ken Kesey, who was one of the main forces behind promoting LSD use in the mid-sixties before it was outlawed. He and his Merry Pranksters traveled cross country in their psychedelic painted out bus called FURTHUR. The Grateful Dead were first to have a song referring to the bus with The Other One. Then, The Beatles wrote Magical Mystery Tour and the Who followed suit with Magic Bus.
LOVE the Who. Have most of their albums and seen them live. LOUD is an understatement when describing them. They are my 2nd favorite just behind L. Z. How many bands can say they rocked for as long as they have. BEST halftime show during the superblow ever. Thanks guys
One of the Top 5 live albums by anyone, they were a primal force in rock and this performance is off the charts. You HAVE to hear the My Generation jam that preceded it on Live at Leeds. Pete Townsend at his most intense and forceful, spectacular leads fronting arguably the best rhythm section ever. That album blew our minds back then! To see more from this great era of theirs, they have You Tube video of their shows at Woodstock, Tanglewood and the Isle of Wight Festival, 1969 - 1970, which are all spectacular, chill inducing sets, at their best they are up their with the very greatest bands. Please check them out as time permits, it will be well worth the investment in time, this is some of Rock History at its best and you can see and hear it 50+ years later. Even in this form it is very powerful. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
Live At Leeds is a great record. My buddies and I were still listening to it over a decade after it dropped. "Magic Bus" closes out the record. Side one features several smokin' hot covers -- "Young Man Blues", "Summertime Blues", "Shakin' All Over", along with a bang up version of "Substitute". "Magic Bus" is the title track of the fourth album they released in the US. The cover art featured the band draped around a London double-decker bus painted in day-glo flower power colors ala the Merry Pranksters circa 1968. The album was a US only release and is listed as a compilation today. It also features "Pictures of Lily".
The Who was the best live band from 1968-1971 and Zeppelin were at thier best from 1972-1973. In 1975-1980, both bands either became terrible live (Zeppelin with 1977 being their worst year) or having still great performances but samey set lists (The Who from 1975-1978)
Audio is from the excellent live at Leeds album, footage is from the Isle of Wight concert - so they ain't quite synced up. Young Man Blues from the Live at Leeds is a must react for you guys.
Live at Leeds was not filmed as far as I know, the video is from the Isle of Wright gig. But the soundtrack to it is from Leeds as it sounds. That's when they were at their peak: the greatest drummer, the best bassist, one of the most innovative guitarists and a totally wild and charismatic front man.
This live performance of Magic Bus is great but you should listen to the studio version to get the gist of the song! The Who is one of the best bands to see live sonically and visually. You’re only getting a taste of it here. Roger Daltrey, swinging the mic, Pete Townsend, doing his famous windmill along with his jumps and Keith Moon’s antics on the drum kit! It doesn’t get any better than that! You guys nailed it! I can see for miles; Behind Blue Eyes; The Seeker; Going Mobile; Pinball Wizard. Great reaction as always gents, keep them coming… I’m a fan!
The Who was a great live band! So were many others bands of the era. Being young in the audience energized by this organically unfolding music was incredible. They were telling a story sonically and lyrically and we were all aboard their Magic Bus
The second album I ever bought after the Rolling Stones Got Live if You Want It. It seems that this was in the mid, late 60's because I had it before I moved to N.Y. in 67.

Live, unlike no other band, incredible. Check out A Quick One While He’s Away, live from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. Incredible performance.
This opening riff had to be one of the best of all times - it rocks even before anything else happens. getting better and better as the song progresses.
Saw them in the early 70s, same thing, Townsend and Moon trashed the stage at the end. Entwhistle was the anchor of eternity, soloing away while chaos erupted all around him.
I've never noticed how bluesy this song is, wow. That beginning part is almost like straight Blues, the music, vocals & arrangement, how they're singing to each other etc. Love it.
Man, this throws me back into heavy combat…actually went to sleep listening to the Live at Leeds album nightly for a month or so while flying high risk helicopter missions in Vietnam. Then I’d get up to this tune or My Generation and go out to do it again. Yeah, great rock and roll saved my bacon!

"I ain't trying to start a fuss but can I ride that Magic Bus." The Magic Bus came through my neighborhood in 1969. I was too young to ride it. I stood near it and felt the magic. Great video. The Who were punkAF! They gave zero ducks. KMoon was supernatural. They all were, really. Even John Entwistle is as supernatural.

The Who were punkAF! They gave zero ducks. KMoon was supernatural. They all were, really. Even John Entwistle is as supernatural.
What are the all-time greatest rock and roll bands😅😅😅😅😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉
