There’s nothing wrong with what that coach is doing and even hammers home the point of trying your best and doesn’t care about misses(a bad coach would care about stupid shit like that) there is a problem with participation awards and the “well at least you had fun” attitude. Little league gives boys skills they wouldn’t learn as well anywhere else, like to know what defeat means and to take it on the chin. People like you ruin little boys with your participation awards, and this ”at least you had fun/winning isn’t important” attitude.
It makes me so happy that all the parents go along with this. More youth sports need fellas like this. Keep it light,it's not life or death. It's supposed to be fun.

These kids are never gonna be in college with a coach like this. Defense wins games, batting just helps. If you can hit good, but if you can't play defense they will continuously score. Any good team that can do both will beat a team everyday that relies on there defense.
If I had had this man as a coach in Little League I might not have got caught stealing bacon from the IHOP. It is almost a crime to leave seven slices of thick-cut maple bacon on the plate when you're not going to eat it, and clearly the man I took it from was not going to eat it, but away I went in handcuffs all for the crisp tastiness of bacon. Then the cops made me sit on the sidewalk in the sizzling Sun while they grilled me with questions. If only I had a little league coach like this one.
