    I want to see more innovation like how they did the Shanghai pirates ride.
    In many of these rides they could have implemented fountains that shoot water and make an arch idk new things.

    Nice stuff- I like that you actually point out that not everything is supposed to be an E-ticket, nor should it be. It tends to be a thing for new theme park attractions to all have to be the "Best EVER" thing. It's okay for some things to be like "The Little Mermaid" ride but more well done.

    I love the accidental Tom Nook cosplay 😂
    I revisited the Tinkerbell movies after watching the ride, it made me fall in love with that world, music and art all over again. That dismissive attitude existed about the movies too. But I know (as one of her victims) that she inspired many girls in stem😂

  • @muttshouse
    @muttshouse 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I think it's unfair of you to expect "above and beyond" when "good enough" is already at excellent. I do understand that reusing the older ride system is disappointing, but it takes time to innovate and safety test. With the advent of the omni-floor, I'm excited to think about how that might be used in future rides/experiences. I just wish when designing lands, theme parks would include 1) enough rides to make the walk worth it, 2) make walkways wide enough for traffic flow and shade 3) include A to D attractions along with the E rides, 4) include capacity rides 5) better bathrooms, 6) food/drink stops to disburse crowds.

    • @WDWNT

      @WDWNT gotta say doesn't seem like you liked this expansion too much. Your M.O is you try to be positive when you hate things but slowly rip them to shreds. Then later admit you don't like them. Not to good if olc can't even deliver anymore. Imagineers might have really moved on , I guess it's time to admit defeat and move on too. The universal parks now are mehh in my opinion but they're updating, and epic will probably be the revolutionary park your looking for although I hate to admit it

    • @GI876758
      @GI876758 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WDWNT I think this is where cultural differences kick in. Japanese culture is 'don't fix what ain't broke'. Above and beyond takes risks and as you know many times can turn to huge flops, which sometimes in Japanese conservative culture is frowned upon. Next comes budget cost. As you know the $2 billion price tag includes that Tokyo being one of most expensive places in the world to construct. As much OLC is willing to invest, there is a limit to prevent over-cost.

    • @GI876758
      @GI876758 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@camerondebartolo3720 There is not much shown in terms of Epic Universe actual construction execution product of the concept layout. It all sounds good, maybe too good. However, it can be a huge disaster if its just style without substance. Its all about the quality of the lands, not just about the scale or quantity. Many times the hype creates disappointment and maybe Universal has changed at least better than Disney. But will it deliver to the hype? Don't know. Many times over ambitious plans changes and cuts and cuts become a result of a major disaster that never delivers. So until they finish building it, its all just hype.

    • @camerondebartolo3720
      @camerondebartolo3720 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GI876758 yeah I'm not really a universal guy but they don't cut the budget ever which I appreciate about them it won't fail no way. Also to be clear I love disney sea I'm gonna be there in like two weeks and will strongly disagree with Tom he likes what he likes which is fine. But I do think that epic universe will be a step above atleast fantasy springs for sure, not disney sea as a whole, but universal will spend and does have the imagineers now.

    Great review although my ranking would still put Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival at the top. As someone who’s favorite Disney movie is Tangled, I’ve been waiting for the movie to get something more than a bathroom and this is it, we knew it was a D ticket attraction so the length doesn’t surprise me although I do wish it was longer. That lantern scene is still a top 5 scene that imagineering has ever done. I don’t personally have a problem with the thugs, it reminds me of classic Disney dark ride figures and it’s cool to get some more characters in either animated or statue form. I’ve seen something like Frozen get so much love in the parks even though personally I don’t like the first film so I hope this is the step to getting more Tangled in the parks.

As I was in the curving team for Lost RIver Delta when they were building the new park, I have a huge attatchmnent with Disney Sea, so thank you so much!
    Regard with the scene of Hans with sword, it won’t be my favorite part either but real life animatronics with weapon might be too violence and scary for Japanese people, especially for kids.

I honestly really wonder how other creators will react because I feel like you are one of the few people who really speak your mind about the parks anymore. I can't stand watching fake reactions of these parks and what not. I was wondering something though, I saw on twitter there was a debacle with hotel guests and standby guests. Do you think you'll ever speak about that? It seems like the hotel guests are getting more priority according to that post.

    1000% i concur on Peter Pan being somewhat of a disappointment but who knows if its just a troll to USJ lol. Me personally, i feel the whole dark ride system Universal does is just meh nowadays. Honestly, Before when all the rides POV released, they’ve really seemed to make PP their main attraction instead of Frozen, but that flipped the other way. What OLC should’ve done is to copy the Jurassic world ride in Universal Beijing. That might’ve give Frozen its run for the money and the top spot. That’s a ride that’s very underrated and not talked about bc it’s in China for once. But they do mix projection & animatronics really well really well.

    I wonder if the cross section of visitors to Tokyo Disney resort is older than the American parks - my guess on the legacy IP resurrected in Tokyo Disneyland is projected to be higher than newer IPs (eg Pixar) as its visitor demographic is older? Also since the general population and age in Japan is higher with lower birth rates. Just a guess, I also don’t know what the data says - but I imagine Orient and Disney has done extensive analytics on their markets.

    Hmm, you know, Galaxy's Edge also feels "backwards", like there was supposed to be a hotel back there maybe? Maybe Star Cruiser was supposed to be that?

    That being said I do like this channel. It’s good enough to stand in his own. Just choose your own music theme. There’s other royalty free music to pick from. No need to pick from a competitor channel.

    @28:00 wow sounds almost like Yosemite National Park but with disney in the valley. Love it. Would work for dca expansion tbh.
    I totally could feel that something was wrong with their arandale through the videos. Superior ride, inferior land. Lot of space used in this park but maybe because disneysea is already so built up they didnt think they needed more facilities?

    Greatly appreciate your commitment to delivering our beloved Disney community worldwide experience intel, but while I hate to be ‘that guy’, the newest global ride with the longest ride time is PotC Sunken Treasure at Shanghai (8 minutes), one of the best rides currently in the world IMHO…although the Jurassic Park ride in Beijing would like a word!

      @@WDWNT It’s a stretch to say 18 months is “years apart”. Those lands were announced at the same time as the expansion of the park. I suppose then by your logic that RotR is not part of the Galaxys Edge expansion since it opened later.

    I realize the music is royalty free and open sourced for all to use freely, no judgement. I find it interesting you selected the same music for the FS intro that FreshBaked uses as their intro music. Figuring it is a “nod” to the excellent work they do on their channel. Thank you for your coverage Tom, always enjoy the channels take on all things Disney.

      @@WDWNT Wow! “Stolen”? I’d love to see the court ruling that found FreshBaked guilty of stealing. I would have expected a more professional answer from a team that seems to pride themselves on presenting themselves as such. You could have led with “They have used some of our material without our permission” or “Unfortunately, sometimes content creators take the liberty of using the material of others”…but you had to lead with “stolen”, so disappointing.

    I started to appreciated the "pay per ride" system when I did a solo Disney World trip this spring. I tried to get boarding passes for 3 days straight with no luck. Paying $15 to $25 dollars, at the time, -was totally worth it.
    I almost love the pay per ride scenario - like the old ticket books. But if you price an entry ticket cheaply and charge high prices for rides, it does not control crowds. I think the low entry price, with a base number of A-E Tickets in the App, and an additional charge per ride system will get a lot of people into the park, but the crowds would be frustrating. That system was originally envisioned to attract a large number of people and families and just create buzz to fill your new park. The base entry ticked in 1971 was $3.50 ($21+ today).
    Singles and Single/Couple travelers - I would almost appreciate a more reasonably priced virtual ticket book - even if you leave the ticket price at $100+.

      I haven't tried Disney Premier Access in Paris but it seems like a pay option that is limited to a specific number of people each day with a higher price is a good idea. I did Genie+ at Disneyland after it came out and it was great but went last week and it's now too hard to get a booking.

    I’ll be honest, DisneySea LOOKED cool, but it didn’t have a lot to do that I wanted to do or couldn’t do elsewhere. It’s still cool, don’t get me wrong, but it MIGHT be my third-favorite park. I definitely like OG Disneyland best and Tokyo Disneyland is my second-favorite park. I wasn’t unimpressed by DisneySea, it just isn’t what I’m looking for in a Disney Park. I feel like WDW people tend to like Tokyo’s parks more than Disneyland people in general.

      I’d also say that the original attractions there are some of the best… in recent years. I think Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are all better original attractions, and they’re all from Disneyland.

    In terms of : "Fantasy Seas is the highest level of what has been done before but nothing new." Well, that's kinda of Japan's own stereotype, right? Japan's reputation in all things is being able to observe something, and then perfect it. They however complain that they as a nation in general are not good at making their own NEW things.
    regarding the use of screens: hate em. Glad other people like them but they are just not my cup of tea. My personal favorite magical feeling ride from adulthood is actually ET from UN. I LOVE the world building and detail in that ride (and perception change and height gain) - my inner child's heart bursts with that ride and I loose myself completely in it.
    last point: My family members are finally visiting me in Japan, and some of those members are little kids, and so im so excited now that I can finally convince their parents that Disney Sea is the park that we should go to. Before there weren't enough rides at Disney Sea really to bring nervous kindergartners (besides some of Ariel's lagoon rides and wonderful Sinbad) but now there are!! :D
    I'm so excited for the charm
