My sister is good friends with his granddaughter. He did a personalized message for my dad since Feeny is the one of the people/characters who made him want to be a teacher.
He’s a 1,000,000,000,000 times better teacher than the many pronoun-touting rainbow-color haired child-grooming sideshow freaks in the classroom today.
I think they did a great job of letting the show grow up with the characters. We saw Corey & Shawn grow from middle school all the way through college. We saw Corey & Topanga go through being annoyed with each other as kids to being married and facing very real challenges that a lot of people who marry young face. The writers of the show did not start out with the intention of creating a show for 11 to 14 year olds and then just leave it there forever. The show grew up with the actors, but it did it in a way that still stayed family friendly. It’s absolutely amazing to look at the stark contrast between how clean boy meets world is to how borderline porn-ish today’s shows are.
I was Ben savages server at a bar & grill I worked at in West Hollywood. He was so kind. He handed me his phone to take a picture of him and his friends. He jumped up after I took the first picture and came to position my arms and showed me the exact frame he wanted. Then he jumped back into his booth (the famous Led Zeppelin table there) to get the perfect picture taken by me, directed by him haha. I had his signature on his receipt in my server folder all night and just kept smiling the whole night at work. 😊😛
I was born in 2003 so I didn’t grow up with the show however I did watch it between 12-15 years old and even as a kid growing up in the 2010s I find it to be my favourite show of all time and use the lessons and experiences from this show way more than those shows from the 2000s and 2010s
Same here, in fact I favor this show over other shows. I found it to be more impactful than other shows at the time. If I were to rewatch sitcoms, they will be from the 70's to the late 2000's, since most shows are not nearly as good anymore as they were and still are.
Fun Fact: Lee Norris who played Minkus, was originally on a very shortlived sitcom called The Torkelsons, which was created by the same creator of Boy Meets World. The show was pretty much abandoned and scrapped after only 2 seasons and that's when he went on to create Boy Meets World.
I will never forget one Friday night. I'm 36 now. TGIF was on, but my mom invited a friend over and they had a boy my age. So they came over early. I stopped playing so I could sit and watch Boy Meets World. I remember my friend not liking the show and getting annoyed waiting for me, and my mom kept nagging at me to play with him. It was almost over when WHAM!!! We got hit with a To Be Continued....which wasn't too normal for sitcoms in the 90s. I ran out of the room and continued playing...about 25 minutes later, we go to play a video game, so I turned on the TV and ABC was still on...THE 2ND EPISODE CAME OUT RIGHT AFTER AND I HAD NO IDEA!!! IT WAS A DOUBLE FEATURE NIGHT!! I was sooooo upset and angry! Back then, you had no idea when you'd be able to see it again...there was no "On Demand". You caught it live, or you spent months searching TV Guide for a rerun. I vaguely remember feeling sad after the episode and it ended with Shaun saying something like, "The world as we know it, is over"....So, I'm pretty sure it was the Lauren episode....
I watched Boy meets world back in the 90s, growing up with them basically as I was 1 year younger. This year I watched it all again on Disney Plus. It was one of those shows that some how just still holds up. Though that first season intro wow.
Check out the first season and look at the actors who they picked to be the 3rd friend I think they all played in the Sandlot movie. If you see the kid in this video who's laughing but it doesn't show his face I think is Yaya, the black kid is the pitcher, and the other is Squints
I was 12 years old when this show first aired, perfect for the target demographic. It was so different from other shows aimed at my age group in the best possible way. Mr. Feeny is one of the all time great TV characters. “Don’t you mean do well?” “No, I mean do good.”
I'm happy someone mentioned how well they handled young love. I met my now husband when we were 14, and our romance followed a similar trajectory of short split and reunification when we got to university. But when you know, you know, y'know.
So many shows that revolve around kids the show just kind of ages out but this show reinvented it's self for each faze of growing up. Ny the end it was a prototype for friends
There will never be a Disney show where the main character gets depressed and starts drinking or a show where they take half a season to mend a break up or as you mentioned a character joining a cult. This show is so necessary for teaching life lessons and I’m glad as a 2003 baby I found it for my childhood
Disney channel had to cut the drinking episode tho because it was too strong for younger audiences. And also the prom episode where Cory and Shawn wanted to have sex after the prom Edit: Have sex with Angela and Topanga, not with each other
such a great video. i watched boy meets world for the first time this year! i loved it specifically because i could see myself in shawn so so much. aside from him, some other characters made me feel understood as well. i'm so grateful for this show and you captured why it's so important so well!
listening to the podcast clips of Will Friedel speaking is so trippy because my brain is just visualizing Ron Stoppable talking. his regular speaking voice is so similar to his Ron voice
The choice to have Ben’s brother play the creep teacher was incredible. Not only because it’s such a “hey, you know your brother? Guess what!” when Ben comes to work one day. But also, picking someone who was a famous person in his own right and someone audiences had positive and trusting feelings for to play a character that’s meant to be positive and trusting and betrays that is a GUT PUNCH.
The reason Boy Meets World worked, and is honestly rewatchable to this day is no one was perfect like other sitcoms. Everything wasn't too nice and tighty. And people identify with that.
This channel has come at the perfect time! I’m in college, just now watching Boy Meets World through for the first time, and I’ve been looking for ways to engage more with other fans online. These videos are great! Can’t wait to see more.
Very nice video. Someone else probably pointed it out already, but you didn't mention the names of some of the legendary celebrities that you showed in your clips. Peter Tork of the Monkees was also in the scene you showed with Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz, and Buddy Hackett was sitting with Soupy Sales.
Not to mention that Lauren went on to not only be apart of Scooby-Doo, but she also became a significant role in the MCU. Sherman from American Pie has a cameo in the episode where Cory gets his first kiss. All together, this show has a lot of good messages in it. I'm currently working my way thru all of it again and I'm working my way thru season 6.
When ‘Mr. Fenny’, during the last episode, told them to “do good”, I started crying. Although I wasn’t in the demographic, I enjoyed watching the characters interacting with each other. I was in the 18 to 49 demographic when it aired.
Maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed like you said Harley Kiener was played "in a recurring role by a young Adam Scott." Danny McNaulty played the original Harley, and Adam played a "replacement" character to Harley as a character named "Griff."
Mr Feeny was such a good teacher to all those who were watching, but it was Will Friedle who really stole that show, especially in latter seasons. I love both Meets World shows and I'm happy I got to find this gem.
I may be the only one who thinks this. I truly think Eric was ruined halfway through season 5 til the end of the series. Eric through season 1-4 was one of the best written characters on the show. His thirst for wanting to be something, to be taken seriously, find out his capabilities, and his drive getting into college made him the most interesting character next to Shawn. Eric was indeed hilarious through the later seasons, but he was nothing more than a comedy act. Sure he had great serious moments especially with the Tommy arch, but it wasn't anything compared to his earlier arch. But a big reason too was the relationship he had with Mr. Feeny. To me that was way more meaningful than Corey's. Mr. Feeny never gave up on Eric knowing his potential, and how Eric always admired and looked up to him. Moments like in the "Security guy" episode or when Eric gets accepted to College seeing how happy Mr. Feeny was always seemed genuine and authentic and made you feel what you were watching was real. It's a shame they couldn't keep Eric like he was earlier on, but it clearly worked out ratings wise since he was one of the key members that made Boy Meets World the classic that it was.
I am glad to be here while you only have double digit subs. I can be a purist that says I was here before you blew up... Because as a late 30s millennial/Gen Z kid. The nostalgia is gonna becon to us like a siren on the sea... Great content sir....... Also, you sound like another TH-camr named Jose

Let's make a series focusing on one of the younger children of a family. Nobody does that! Great, who can we get to star in it? How about the younger brother of the star of Wonder Years (a show following the younger child of the family...)?
listening to William Russ discussing the show with the actors that played Shawn and Topanga talking about the rotation of characters of filled the “death chair” in the first season or 2 I just got the image in my head of a different fictional son of Russ’s from his role as the deceased father in American history X, now a nazi clad Edward Norton is sitting in that chair in the cafeteria with Shawn and Corey side-eyeing Minkus and the other child actor dewon guy as both him and Corey wait for their TV/Film father William Russ to grab them from school
The biggest problem with the show is that they inexplicably squandered a lot of characters, like getting rid of Minkus and Mr. Turner with absolutely no explanation.
Mr Feeny is ICONIC I cannot imagine anyone else being him
I agree he played that character perfectly. He was a great mentor to the kids.
There is no show without him
Same here William Daniels ticked every checkmark in the Proverbial box about how to be the Most sage and patient Mentor.
Mr. Feeny saying “I love you all, class dismissed” always makes me cry.

Interesting
Throw “ Torkelsons” into the YT search bar and basically all the episodes are available in full.
Oh I loved that show! They changed the name of it to Almost Home and Brittany Murphy starred in it.
Lee Norris seems like an awesome guy. His BMW and One Tree Hill cast mates speak so highly of him
I will never forget one Friday night. I'm 36 now. TGIF was on, but my mom invited a friend over and they had a boy my age. So they came over early. We're the same age. I have that quote, "Believe. Dream. Try. Do good." hanging over my desk in my office.
There are many great things I can say about BMW but the one thing I'll say is that they wrote possibly the most beautiful final scene in TV history.
I agree wholeheartedly!
I don't think Eric's intelligence dropped. He was always intelligent. He just became sillier.
I think you need to rewatch.
I'm happy someone mentioned how well they handled young love. I met my now husband when we were 14, and our romance followed a similar trajectory of short split and reunification when we got to university. But when you know, you know, y'know.
That's very sweet

I love this show I'm glad it was there during my childhood...

Didn't age well with accusations about him in the last year or so. None of which I'm saying are true. Just weird.

I rewatched the whole thing 3 times over at 30 years old
What made Boy Meets World stick with me was that watching it at 11/12 and as I grew up was that I was seen
william daniels still does bring warmth and depth.
I love this show I'm excited to start it for my kids when they get that age. Shawn and Eric were my favorite and the ones I wanted to be like

Eric saying Feeee Feee Feeeny always cracks me up 😂

It's so fun. They rewatch each episode and have episodes with guest and old cast members
After Minkus left the show he was on The Torkelsons. I liked that show too.
Grew up with this show and forgot about it.
Sad to see you didn't mention pro wrestling legend Vader among the guest stars. Good video overall though, I really enjoyed it.
If I'm not mistaken all the actors that played the cycled in 3rd friend ended up all playing in the Sandlot movie
Not Dewan Guy or the one from the basketball episode
i can't believe they did ben's older brother dirty like that 😭😭😭
That episode of the cult was season 4. Aired in 1997. Not 1993

listening to William Russ discussing the show with the actors that played Shawn and Topanga talking about the rotation of characters of filled the “death chair” in the first season or 2 I just got the image in my head of a different fictional son of Russ’s from his role as the deceased father in American history X, now a nazi clad Edward Norton is sitting in that chair in the cafeteria with Shawn and Corey side-eyeing Minkus and the other child actor dewon guy as both him and Corey wait for their TV/Film father William Russ to grab them from school
always thought they'd kill Shaun off via drug overdose or something.
The biggest problem with the show is that they inexplicably squandered a lot of characters, like getting rid of Minkus and Mr. Turner with absolutely no explanation.
Poor Peter Tork.
I think you missed the importance of Angela and her relationship with Shawn on the show.
Come to think of it, this retrospective was more focused on the first half of the series
One of my best friends look like Corey 😆
Dinosaurs was awesome

the cory topanga relationship was real other than most young relationships dont last.
