Dr. Phil I am going on 71 and I need a job. I have had breast cancer and endured chemotherapy and radiation treatments and honestly chemotherapy and radiation did me wrong. Now I haven’t worked in 2 years and I couldn’t afford my home anymore so I sold and now I’m paying more than I was paying for my home. I owed people who helped me out and I got to a point I couldn’t stand that I owed my friends so I sold my home. Now I’m in an apartment that I really can’t afford but have a little money to offset my expenses. I really don’t want to do that but I feel safe here and I guess it’s going to be alright for now. I can’t imagine what I’m gonna do in 6months.

I get tired of hearing about save the middle class. There's people working and busting butt that with dollar amounts aren't middle class and live between poverty level and lower middle class. There's no help. You make too much money for gov help, and not enough money for a loan. But those taxes sure keep flying out of the paycheck with no problem and budget plans sink you deeper.

It’s awful and makes just over the very low threshold to get help. He would be batter off not working but that kills his soul and drive to live. It’s so bad and no help.
Maybe it's because if the middle class is saved, it helps those who aren't. When you head off on vacation, you don’t exactly load up your entire home and take it along for the ride. In reality, many women choose to leave their valuable jewelry behind, often stashing it away in a safe, a safety deposit box, or tucked into a discreet corner of their closet. If a squatter moves into your home, what happens to your cherished belongings? Will the police let you retrieve your personal items, or do these individuals get to keep your belongings? Also what about your family heirlooms and photo albums filled with memories? What becomes of those precious items when someone else occupies your home?
I was part of the Tian-an-men Square movement. From day one, we were not allowed to talk about our own experiences, and we were punished for being in University that year.
The system that allows trespassers to squat in homes owned by others as an investment need to purchase these homes from the owners and take the losses itself.
I homeschooled 3 children and my philosophy was if they had a good attitude I could teach them anything, but if they were resistant I couldn't teach them anything. I graded on effort not correctness. When I was in kindergarten the grades were either S, U, or N. Satisfactory, unsatisfactory, or needs work. That's what I did with my kids. They all eventually went to public school and did very well, but in that environment they chose a number or letter grade they were happy with and didn't put forth any effort past that point. That's actually much greater effort than they saw among their peers. Their peers had been trained to blame the teacher for their grades instead of taking responsibility for them. Kids today don't understand effort in = results. You see, if my kids were making the effort in their studies at home, even if the answers were wrong, I could work with that. When they grasped that, they could learn anything they wanted alongside the 3 R's I required.
Effort only goes so far, especially when results are needed and others depend on them. I hope you instilled that down the line, rather than just praising effort. It's one thing to show up everyday, it's another to show up every day and not make a bigger mess.
