That's is usually where the biggest crashes happen. In FP they see how far the car can go and what they can do and cannot do in the race and qualifying. Or they try different suspension setups etc. That does not always end well. In qualifying you are pushing the car to the absolute maximum every inch of the road. That also increases the risk of crashing. In the race, you just try to get to the line, so you don;t take stupid risks and you are not pushing it as hard as you can all the time because you have to conserve fuel and tires as well
And the first corner incidents, and the not so big crashes (like for example Vettel and leclerc where both cars only had problems on 1 wheel) are not included here. Only the big ones and such crashes ususally happen when the car is pushed to the absolute limit
You get used to crashing. Youre most likely busy with focusing on yourself to figure out whether or not you have been injured. At least thats what I did on my motorcycle crashes. You get emotional later.
He did get a win though. The Toro Rosso just fit him better, it may also have been the lesser pressure of course. But he is strong in that car no doubt.

Once in a while everything will line up for the worst possible outcome. Still, several of these impacts would have been lethal at some point in history. One looked very similar to Sennas crash, with both front wheels coming off. In -94 the wheels were not wired to the car as they are now, which has greatly reduced the risk of getting a runaway suspension rod lodged in your brain. Safety keeps evolving. Every new issue and technological developement will fuel this. Thankfully. For we want them all to come home safely.
I was witness to 2 of these, both Magnussen in Canada & Albon in Hungary. Both were pretty huge and made sure to bring the crowds to a silence, which wasn't really a nice feeling, but knowing both were okay was the most relief I felt those weekends. I don't really want to witness something like that again in person, but I know I probably will at some point, to be honest.
