I'll have to disagree on their take on this one cause that reply was definitely a block worthy shit, you don't just send someone "hawk tuah" a spitting joke when you only recently knew them, it's inappropriate and especially us women don't like it when men get a lil too sexual too fast and that reply could also be interpreted as that kind of joke so, I don't think it's an overreaction on her part

from how i get it, it's one of those brainrot memes like skibidi toilet. i haven't seen the actual meme because my brain isn't horrifically rotted, but iirc it's like "hawk tuah spit on that thang"??? hawk tuah being the sound of gathering saliva in your mouth and then spitting it out, and that thang supposedly being a er. male's genital??? i could be wrong tho seeing as i've avoided hawk tuah like the plague.
if i am correct, the context of the meme having sexual origins imo makes it even worse of a reply to receive so .. definitely block worthy i'd say? as for why they said it, they mention in the post they didn't mean it so seriously and thought it'd be endearing, so safe to assume they were joking. but again, there's a time and place for jokes and given the op knows the girl was proud of her image, it's a poorly timed response and the op definitely did fumble lol
