I just feel like I can never ever thank you enough man. All of your videos are so helpful and thorough and detailed and never boring and I always learn something. Thank you a thousand times
My camera was on crop mode and I had to reset the whole camera setting to resolve it. Even the electronic shop didn't know how to switch it. Thank you for mentioning the crop 👌Great video, very short but helpful.
Thanks for making the video and sharing it, this really helps as I have recently purchased the camera and still learning how to use the camera to its full potential...
Thank you very much, just picked one up yesterday, shooting with a9ii and wanting to learn video for a long time, the new menu system is interesting, I was intimidated in the beginning to shoot video, heck I even started a channel, just uses it for a short time yesterday and the one thing that just impressed me the most was the autofocus definitely up there with my a9ii. So far so good, now it’s time to learn videography I subscribed thank you
Awesome setup mate, I liked it so much I also put the same custom settings for photo manual mode (with a few other buttons) so when switching modes it’s all the same muscle memory. I’ve watched a few other videos and your settings were logical and just made sense to me (coming from EOSR). Really enjoy your detailed and precise content. Yourself and Jason Morris both had great reasoning to purchase the A7IV and make the switch from Canon, really enjoying it so far. Hello from Brisbane Australia. Also I see you selling R5C, hope it sells!
Thanks for the helpful video. I'd love to see a detailed comparison between the different video file formats. I realise XAVC S-I 4K is meant to be the best but produces ginormous files. But how dramatically would XAVC HS 4K and XAVC S 4K differ in terms of quality?
You're welcome. Sounds like a good idea for a video. From what I understand is that the S-I is easier for most computers to edit and might be better for quicker motion. And yes, the file sizes are much larger.
Hello Josh. Great work with all the footage comparisons lately. My favorite footage I see online is from the pocket 6k. Especially when shooting into the sun. Currently I am using an Eos R. I would grab the 6k but AF is a must for me. So I am leaning towards the A7iv. When I see cinematic sequences from canon cameras I really like the way they look, aside from highlights being blown out many times. When I see Sony footage I like it but it always looks like it has an ND filter on it to me. I can't quite put my finger on it but it just looks digital/futurish and canon cinematic sequence look organic/analogish/filmic. I don't know if that makes any sense or not lol but what do you think? I know you can grade the sony footage to look similar to canon but it seems like it might be a task and add too much extra work. My question is, judging from your experience with all these cameras do you think that something like the R5c is worth the money over the a7iv? If so I may just save up to grab that instead. Thanks for your input.
Thanks! I don't think there is a lot of difference in image quality with a lot of the new releases from Canon and Sony. I really believe it comes down to proper exposure and getting better at color grading. Some features are more or less important to people. Take a look at this A7S3 R5C comparison video that I made: th-cam.com/video/pBs9YHf7aQU/w-d-xo.html
Hey ! Awesome content. I just received my Sony A7IV. But I can only choose frame rates for movies between 25,50 FPS. I do not have the option of 24 FPS. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Sorry quick question, I love that dreamy look from shooting 120 fps can I somehow do slow motion at 4K 30 or 4K 60 and get the look of 120 fps 1080 I am barely editing in I movie, still have much to learn thank you
To get 120fps you need to shoot 120fps so you can't do that in 4K on the A74. If you really want 120fps over 60fps I would shoot 120fps in 1080p and drop it in a 4K timeline and then export in 4K. A lot of editing software will upscale the image and it'll look good, especially on TH-cam or other social media. Not sure about iMovie. Davinci Resolve is free if you want to try that though.
Big help, Thanks. I am mostly a still shooter, but am using the video shooting more. I understand the picture profile and LUT usage, but am curious about the sub-settings in each. For instance, we can change settings for Black Level, Black Gamma, Knee, Saturation, Color Phase, Color Depth, Detail. There is also a Copy function. I get the reset function (removes any changes we may have done. The manual is a bit foggy on these options. If you ever have time, can you do a short video on why we would ever want to change any of these?
@@Josh_Sattin do you have a link to a file with your settings? I’ve seen similar videos where they’ll go through these settings and then have them in the description. If not, totally fine!
There has been comments warning not to turn on the anti-dust protector on permanently due to possible jamming and or shutter malfunction. The jury is still out..
@@Josh_Sattin thank you! I figured it out! I thought I was on manual but I wasn't 🤦🏽♀️. I think I should return this camera this is too much work. The fact I have to color grade got me wayyy over my head. Does anyone know what setting I can use that won't require me to color grade? I spent hours trying to color grade a video 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
So sad that in europe, we don't have 25p in XAVC HS... Only 50p -_- If it was not for the crop, I would actually shoot everything in 50p, with 360° shutter and 180° for slow mo, just because files are smaller 😅
I've been waiting for this A7iv setup guide from a daily content creator!
Hope this was helpful for you!

im on 1.01 a7iv, i cant find your settings! 5:41 i only have 10 item, you have 12!
Great tutorial there! Q: "Different set for Still/Mv" is greyed out in my menu and not for me to choose. Any idea on why?
Thanks! Do you have the camera set on one of the custom mode settings (1, 2 or 3)?

You are in PAL mode. Switch that over to NTSC.
Can we get 422 in HD quality
Or in 4k has 422 only
How to Pause Video?

Does Sony not allow you to export settings like Panasonic?
You can save settings to a memory card and load them on to a camera with the Sony cameras.
@@Josh_Sattin do you have a link to a file with your settings? I’ve seen similar videos where they’ll go through these settings and then have them in the description. If not, totally fine!
Unfortunately I don't have that.

Anyone know how to save my settings? I did all of the settings and then when I turned off my camera and turned it back on my settings reser
You can save your settings to a memory card.
Menu -> Setup -> 2 Reset/Save Settings -> Save/Load Settings
(screen 42/54)
