Tarikh is a daily Hindi programme in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons and Incidents. In this edition of Tarikh, Sonal talks about Raman Raghav was a notorious serial killer who operated in the city of Mumbai, India during the mid-1960s. His real name was Sindhi Dalwai and he later changed his name to Raman Raghav, which was a combination of two of his favorite gods.
Raman Raghav was known for his brutal and senseless murders, and he often targeted homeless people and slum-dwellers who he thought were "unworthy" of living. He used a blunt object, usually a stone or a piece of metal, to bludgeon his victims to death.The police began to investigate the murders and eventually identified Raman Raghav as the perpetrator. He was arrested in 1968 and confessed to committing 41 murders. However, it is believed that he may have been responsible for many more.
Raman Raghav was found to be mentally unstable and was sent to a mental institution for treatment. He died in 1995, after spending almost 25 years in the institution.The story of Raman Raghav has been the subject of several books and films, including the 2016 Bollywood movie "Raman Raghav 2.0," directed by Anurag Kashyap.
