Great talk. It should be a requirement that all students from all universities have to read your books and listen to your talks. You don't hide the truths of our worst wrongs including slavery of course, but you educate many of the issues to give our younger people a broad view of our history, Good and Bad.
Joy of learning, grateful for the lecture (2013) by the excellent educator. The statement she had made caught my attention: "... there will be people who will be willing to hurt the country to make a political point..." (105.48) "The country this big and diverse"; thus, her words "will of the people" sounds heavy to my ear today, November 2020...
Just discovered her today by her book on Andrew Johnson. Answered so many of my questions. I'm starting to connect the dots on how we got where we are today.
