This is one of the better movies I have seen in a very long time. Kowing it's based on a true story makes it even better.

I lived at this penitentiary 32 years after 1942 in the boq I can't imagine how anyone could live on the wages paid by this Department of Corrections in 1942 because in 1974 I could not live very well on the wages I earned here many days spent working a double shift or days off then Drive 125 miles east to Folsom California my home I did this for one year and then I was finished in more ways than one

WWII era stateside made movie 🎥 😊Great opening line by the Guards. I wouldn’t even let the Warden manage a dog pound without all the dogs hating him 😂

First mistake of theirs was sending one guard with 3 prisoners. How it even possible that women would want to be married and live at a prison. To hell with that. Crooked guards. Nothing has changed in the system

The actor who played 'Butch" here was in King Kong where he apparently got hurt on set and didn't work for 2 years. Not only that but he died in his 40s of lung cancer. He wasn't exactly blessed w the best luck, was he?

The song is "Lonesome and Sorry".This version is very similar to a 1935 recording by percussionist Vic Berton who recorded it for Columbia Records.

I wonder if the term 'Poverty Row Cinema' borrowed it's initials from this production company.
