Atwill, one of my favorites is Son of Frankenstein. He plays the local police chief who supposedly has a wooden arm, and at least 5 times in the movie he comes to visit Dr. Frankenstein (Basil Rathbone) at his castle and snaps his arm in a very ostentatious way.. It's great.

"Uh, Oh" I said out loud after watching the woman walk the 39 Steps, then Dr. Bradford talking about his research in bringing back the dead. I had to double check if I was watching a horror film. Her execution was set for 15 April. She won't have to worry about sending in her Income Taxes for that year, or any others.

Very good movie. Charles Finch... same name as the Author who writes the wonderful Charles Lenox Detective Series, spanning the time before Sherlock Holmes, between 1850- 1880.
Thank you for sharing this great movie. Susie, the sister was either a complete imbecile in denial, and a plain cunning LIAR! I can't imagine anyone that stupid holding back obvious evidence that would free her Sister?
Maybe she was festering resentment over not getting the $1,000 to help Richard?

Don’t know about 1944, but these days (yes, we’re still putting people to death 75 years later) but MD’s may only pronounce the person executed. For an MD to actually “throw the switch” or push the IV lethal drugs goes against the Hippocratic Oath....”First do no harm.” I know I couldn’t do it. There has to be another answer that the victims’ families could agree to other than murder (just like the inmate did, I know! 🤬) I heard a victim’s sister say she would be ok with the murderer behind behind bars in maybe solitary confinement for the rest of his life, never eligible for parole (unless found DNA Innocent), And I’ve heard a mother of a young boy murdered who said she would be oh so happy to push the lethal IV drugs. So Jesus help us all work together to try to find a better solution than blood on OUR hands, which are innocent hands.

Most people still believe that doctors must take the hippocratic oath, but many or even most medical schools no longer require it and those that do have often so heavily revised the oath that it no longer covers many common practices. Since 1989 barely 1/2 of medical students take the oath and fewer than 2% take the original. Source: Harvard School of Medicine.
