Hey Russ I have been through Astoria a few times and I think a must stop and see spot is the Astoria column, you go up into the column and climb lots and lots of stairs to the top and WOW!! 360 degree breath taking View of the Columbia River and that bridge you drove over to Washington. $5 well worth it. Drive safe!!

That bridge is astounding. And, tunnel at the end I enjoyed, as well. Nomadic Fanatic is in Washington right now and it’s gorgeous, too. Can’t wait to see what you film. ❤️

That was cool. I have a video of leaving Astoria and being stopped in that construction. It would be ironic if we passed each other back then. My favorite hoodie that I wear constantly is from the Astoria Column. Thanks for the video!

I have no idea how far you are going north, but I'm hoping you keep going, there's a lot of great traveling to come. You can take the Coho from Port Angelus to Vancouver Island.

When you head across the bridge over to Washington my dad and I went over it in the early seventies I think it was 70 one question mark 74 got a 65 Mustang High Pro Fastback built up a little bit he always used to stomp on it when we got to the flat side he floored it and the antenna radio antenna was bending backwards and we were doing about 90 it's four miles across but that last stretch is at least two miles where we stomped on it I've been all over that place I went up to the Astoria Column to the top I tried to see how fast I could get up to the top running I think it took a minute and 15 seconds? But that was 84? Anyway enjoy it

I remember this bridge after leaving fort stevens then stopping at my gma astorias house. This bridge is epic. Fort stevens is way cooler tho. I loved that place 20ish years ago. I rode my bike in the beach and had the time of my life. I love fort stevens. Memories of public showers too. FORT STEVENS IS THE BEST!!!

That red building out into the water at the end of the pier on the left at about 5 minutes: About $500/night. But I tell you. You'll want a second night. You have a lanai pretty much Eggs Ackley where the mighty river meets the sea. Yes. Forty feet deep in the main channel where the Big Ships pass. And you see rollers on the surface right in the channel there. Right where the ships pass when the tide favors 'em. Epic.

When I drove over that Bridge, I was very scared. This is where the Columbia River meets with the Pacific Ocean and we were told the sea is extremely dangerous there for any Boats. So glad you showed this. I have wanted to go back there and then up the coastline of Washington.

Where to begin?,.... waving back of course - that's the polite thing to do! Of all your oregon coast vids, this hurt the most and makes me miss it up there greatly. As you pulled out of fort steven's, you could see the koa sign for a couple seconds on the right side of road. I think my wife read somewhere, that's the 2nd biggest one in the USA. We always stayed there every summer because we had young kids and even with the higher cost to camp, a really good place for kids which was nice. Like you said - a lot to do in the area and it's so clean and beautiful up there. That bridge is one of our favorites "of all time anywhere" and we too, got stuck three years ago right at the top. Probably didn't see you though, (lol), because there were giant black tarps covering sections of bridge up there and I don't remember much of a view till heading down. Plus, ...one has to keep their eyes and brains working when behind the wheel of an rv, (or anything) up there. Been over it many times - gosh, love that bridge. No toll. The good folks up there promised to end tolls after it was paid-off, ...unlike other places that promised too,...but will now continue raising tolls into perpetuity. Fibbers.. :- (.
Side note; as you drove across r.r. tracks under the bridge getting that view, the folks in astoria run a cool vintage trolley along that waterfront on those tracks.
Sorry to ramble - my mind is on the road and heading over the astoria bridge at this very moment,...hopefully one more time. Cheers.

The Astoria-Megler Bridge is a steel cantilever through truss bridge in the northwest United States that spans the lower Columbia River, between Astoria, Oregon, and Point Ellice near Megler, Washington. Opened 55 years ago in 1966, it is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.
It is 1,233 feet (376 m long ,rvertv

Russ ? , Is there any way to slow down filming while driving, Say I live in small town USA and you drive by the house I grew up in . I know the neighbor hood all the buildings and can almost see the house as you drive by about 10 mph 50 ft to stop sign and I cannot see the house at all. I mean just to see the house. Would make a big difference.
