I remember thinking Joe Jonas ate in that dance scene 😂😂😂 I rewatched Camp Rock recently and laughed so hard at how dated everything was. Mitchie didn't deserve as good a friend as Caitlyn. That being said, This is Me/Gotta Find You is still a certified banger
The Jonas Brothers actually have a really interesting and inspiring origin story. They did a documentary called Chasing Happiness on Prime where they get into all the details, but they were definitely not nepo babies or created in a Disney lab!
That "3 months later" ending is exclusive to the Extended Edition; the original TV version did not have that. And yes, while we in Canada watched the DCOMs on Family Channel without commercials, Disney Channel had the commercial breaks.
I assume the title is secretly but actually referring to the camp being surrounded by rocks. P.S. I just noticed how much Joe Jonas looked like Shane Dawson at the time.
Somehow, and I have no idea how, but despite being a little too old for the targeted demo, and having never been into the Jonas Brothers or Demi, this is my guilty pleasure movie. Like, I fully admit that it is absurd and terrible, but I love it anyway.
I'm honestly waiting for the Julie and the Phantoms review because the actors actually played their instruments on that show, and there's not a miss on that soundtrack, imo
Fun fact: I taught younger brother of actor that played Katie in School of Rock how to yo-yo for years. Their mom gave me a copy of the movie signed by Rivkah after I had mentioned that I went to one of the real--life School of Rock music schools in high school. It's one of my most prized possessions.
Not gonna lie I was a camp rock, high school musical, lemonade mouth girlie 😂. I was born in 2000. ALL these movies came out when I was the right age. Wasn’t even a Jones brothers fan but rocked hard with camp rock. 😂
HAHAHAHAHA YES! I was definetely the target audience when those movies came out. Sure some of them don't aged well (Lemonade Mouth is pretty much the only one i rewatch the most because it has a great message and wasn't cringy at the least bit and the characters were surprisingly likeable) but damn i won't lie if i said i have a soft spot for those movies that you mentioned cuz it came in the right age for me. I know some people hated Camp Rock these days and i understand it has issues but damn nostalgia hit me like a truck lol
So.... as soon as you mentioned the death cult march, I knew you were going to be disappointed, because its the only thing I remember from the sequel. So I MAY have let out a villainous cackle when you realized that at the end. Also, while it is possible to simultaneously produce two different notes, it's REAL hard, and sounds nothing like what they were letting JoBro do in that bit. It's called like... throat singing or something like that? Either way, one of the notes is just a really low droning note, and then you have some degree of being able to do other stuff higher, but that's about it.
16:00 “Are the songs this overproduced in High School Musical as well? Like do they also sound like they’re not really being sung by the people on screen?” Drew Seeley has entered the chat.
I will be eternally happy if you make a high school musical video. This is definitely one of your funniest, and I can’t wait for you to continue the Disney channel movie saga.
Mitchie didn't win because it was the END of the final jam. Her performance didn't count. And even if it did, Shane participated in it, which wouldn't really be fair for her to win at that.
The fake playing always got me. 😂Since you’re on Disney channel content, I really need to see your reaction to life with Derek! Even as a kid I could see the weird tension between the step siblings!
Teenagers would love knowing who had an in with the cook, especially if the food is as good as Mitchie’s mom’s supposedly is. They’d be all “hey mitchie, when’s fried chicken?!”
Btw high school musical is well known to be way better in regards to storyline and music. Being a fan of both movies when i was 8~10, HSM aged better and has more rewatch from me than camp rock (which i watch just for the memes)
I gotta admit, I was obsessed with any movies that had Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato in them. Camp Rock, Princess Protection Program, Another Cinderella Story. I was also weirdly obsessed with Radio Rebel, as a super shy kid. I fast forwarded through a lot of songs when I would watch this, even as a kid, because the songs aside from Demi’s and Jonas Brothers were not interesting to me, so that’s fair, haha. I’m also glad that I was not the only one expecting the mean girl to steal the song, not lie about her stealing the bracelet.
I was the target demo for Radio Rebel and unfortunately i could not stomach that movie seriously😭. I had loved Debbie up to tht point too. And i loved her after in Insatiable
I was definetley the target audience for those movies. Disney Channel was at it's peak when they had Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Ross Lynch, Bridgit Mendler, Debby Ryan, Hilary Duff, Zendaya, Ashley Tisdale etc, let's be real by that! And as a kid, i'd watch ANY movies or TV shows that have them on Disney Channel. Sure their works on Disney Channel don't aged well in today's culture but god damn, i won't be lying if i said those movies still have a soft sport in my heart lol
I think Tess’s plan after finding her song book wasnt to like steal the song or Shane’s attention, I think Tess framed them for stealing the charm bracelet so mitchie would be banned from the final jam and Shane would never find out the girl he heard singing was mitchie (and then Tess would be free to win Shane’s attention and/or the final jam prize)
I was a teen when I first watched this movie..the secret to enjoying it is not thinking. You know they put.those scenes in to make the characters look cool so just make yourself think they are cool and enjoy Also 'this is me' and 'gotta find you' were in my playlist for years, I still stand by that the songs are bangers
Ikr! I still find myself singing it from time to time and I'm like... Where is this coming from? I also liked then Nick Jonas song in that movie, solely because it speeds up as it goes. My English wasn't very good back when I was watching these movies so I had very good cheesiness endurance.
The best gift in this was that 10/10 throwback to Avril's "Happy Ending" now I've gotten spend my night relistening to Under My Skin and relive my primary school Angst
I really liked main song from Camp Rock (Demi/Joe duet), I have seen that movie on Disney channel - there wasn't that "3 months later" scene. Surprisingly I was not that cringed about the movie even I was in my late teens (nineteen). Only thing I was surprised was Demi's character choice of cloths - that shirt was something that old lady would wear (but Demi looked good in it at the end so...). Maybe that is a sign to finally watch second movie 😂
The song at the end was actually a bonus scene for the dvd. I watched this on Disney Channel all the time, had the CD and knew the song, but I just realized that I have never seen the video before until you mentioned it 😂
I could care less about any of the movies and shows that AmandaTheJedi reviews but I can’t stop watching 😅 it’s great watching someone be passionate about something
Hello, it's 5:10 GMT and I'm drunk/hungover/haven't slept and I haven't watched your stuff in a while, but for some reason this is exactly what I need so thank you
I think I was a little older than the target demographic but I watched it with my little sister and we both laughed at Joe Jonas during that "hip hop dance class" lmao, mostly this movie introduced me to Demi Lovato who I still think is very talented and like most of her music since then, her first albums were pretty disney girl pop rock but I enjoyed them, and she just put out a rock version album of her most famous songs so everybody wins lol
Idk how I didn’t realize until now that despite the movie being called “Camp Rock”, there’s not a lot of rock songs in it. Lemonade Mouth has more rock music in it than Camp Rock lmao.
Oh you definitely have to watch The Final Jam for the cult dance it’s right at the very beginning but I haven’t laughed so hard watching something in ages as I did here (the relatable callouts ended me I was obsessed with this movie as a kid) and I would love to see your reaction to the full movie
As a guitar instructor and board member for a rock camp (part of the GRC alliance), I am A) very happy that rock camp was formative/important to you! And B) glad to see someone else losing their mind over how that definitely wasn't a rock camp.
I am fairly sure I wasn't in the demographic for either 😂 but I loooooved HSM religiously in high school, I was a musical kid and Camp Rock wasn't "musical theatre enough", so I enjoyed many of the songs but I wasn't never big on the movies. But I kida feel your pain lol I had people constantly recommending Glee to me because I love musical theatre and I spene the best of my youth trying to explain that people singing and musicals are not necessarily the same thing. "But they're singing...you love when people sing... " 🤦🏼♀️😆
Omg, I just received the notification and instantly starting laughing 😂😂 and I was like this is gonna be good 😂😂😂 Ps. Yes, there are people (not his case) that can do their own harmonies, it's called polyphony, for example Anna Marie Hefele
As a Nickelodeon child who never got to experience these Disney movies when I was a kid it’s great to finally learn what these iconic movies are actually about
Hasta La Vista is the only thing I remember from Camp Rock, but it's been stuck in my head ever since childhood. To the point that for years I remembered the song but had no idea it was from Camp Rock.
i cannot emphasize how obsessed i was with this movie as a 10 year old i knew all the songs and dialogue by heart i rewatched it that much but yeah it's not holding up well looking back on it lmaooo i really enjoyed watching you cringe at the questionable decisions in the movie + i absolutely agree with the ranking of the songs you made i think disney probably banked on us kiddos not knowing what actual rock is that's the only reason i can think of that we found this the coolest thing ever
I love camp rock despite having never seen it because I came out on the same day as camp rock! We have the same release dates, june 20th 2008 was a true cultural day
It is possible to make your voice sound like two voices at once. The singer Diana Ankudinova can do it. She sings in contralto which is already really rare and on top of that shes capable of polyphony which is over lapping voices.
IM SO GLAD YOU MENTIONED THE "MY HAPPY ENDING" CONNECTION!!! I have to consciously remind myself that the ending doesn't go into that song whenever I think of "This is Me". I don't know which song came first but someone owes someone else some royalties. Also the awkward extended eye look exists not because it's made for younger audiences but because Demi and the Jonas Brothers were part of like a purity culture that Disney teens had at the time. They had purity rings and shit, it was like a whole deal.
I think you missed the point of why This Dude kept saying "Until the end of Final Jam." She was disqualified from competing because of the alleged charm bracelet theft. However theres apparently nothing in the rules that say she can't perform just to perform.
It just feels like a movie that was made at gunpoint which is exemplified by Demi’s terrifying forced smiles. Leave it to Amanda to make me finally realize why I actually like that damn duet Demi and Joe sing at the end. IT’S BECAUSE THEY RIPPED OFF AVRIL!!! 😤
Firstly, Joe tore that fuckin dance floor up. Im 27 and couldnt move like that now, secondly I never noticed the back up vocals in this is me before i was such a dumb kid
Fun fact: a person CAN sing two notes at once! It’s called overtone singing, it’s unbelievably difficult, and it also sounds way cooler than Shane Gray harmonizing with himself!
The songwriters for This Is Me totally ripped off Everywhere by Michelle Branch!🤣 Demi's character is literally called Michelle but they never call her that! They knew what they were doing! Anyone else miss Michelle Branch before her label ruined her career? I just finished listening to what should've been her 2010s follow-up album West Coast Time and it sounded like we were robbed of hearing her natural evolution into a music vet. I then listened to her most recent album which is pretty good. Imo, talent means nothing to have a successful career if you don't have just as strong of a management team. Taylor should bless her lucky stars she has one. Especially since she herself idolized Michelle Branch, owning a blue guitar because of her and even covering All You Wanted at Michelle's birthstate of Arizona!
I was more of a Vanessa Carlton fan myself. But also loved Fefe Dobson and feel kinda validated in how much I loved do many "one album wonders" when I found out she moved into more behind the scenes music production.
Oh I miss the pop singer-songwriter girls of the 2000s... I played that Michelle Branch album over and over (except it was actually just the Everywhere single because I could only afford singles)
While High School Musical has undoubtedly held up much better, I have to admit I was a major fan of Camp Rock when I was a kid. I even had this Camp Rock satchel bag for a long time. It didn't bother me that it wasn't true rock, because I didn't really have an idea of what that was at that age lol.
Oh please do Lemonade Mouth! I have so much nostalgia for that movie ❤ I seem to remember it being pretty good for Disney Channel movie standards... but that could just be the nostalgia goggles talking.
I like how the one henchmen who talked about the lip gloss immediately went and joined up with the "Hasta la Vista" guys to perform in the Final Jam. Like you've been henching this whole movie, when did you possibly have time to practice an entire other act? Or are we expected to believe she just joined up the moment after dropping Tess? Because that's a pretty hard sell.
Never really realized Mitchi was such a pick me 😂😂😂 But honestly I got goosebumps from listening to Hasta la Vista, This is me/Gotta be You and We Rock Camp Rock because it hit me with so much nostalgia. I loooved the songs growing up so much 😂😂😂
I never watched this movie as my only access to Disney channel was my grandma's house, but whenever I went over the ads for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam were always playing. Me and my sister still shout, "Camp Rock is the place to be!"
I was a huge Camp rock fun, I had a crush all of the Jonas brothers( but who's not at that time). I absolutely love Demi Lovato hair( my dream hairstyle). I didn't watched camp rock, since I don't think I will like it, now. It's one of those movies.
When Amanda realizes Disney stole the entire concept and plot from CAMP, but made it worse 🫣 its definitely called Camp Rock so they didn't get hit with copywrite.
I don't think I've seen you cover Julie and the Phantoms. If you ever feel like another detour into musical series, you should take a look. It's pretty entertaining.
Oh god I remember seeing ads for this movie back in the day. I think I might've even caught some of it at night once when I fell asleep with Disney Channel on? idk I can't remember, but I remember being annoyed that it was called "Camp Rock" yet it had nothing to do with Rock 'n Roll.
Ugh, this is giving me such a massive flashback to my 16 year old self. I remember solely loving this movie because I had a thing for Demi, but looking back... I can't stop cringing at every little thing about this movie. Lol

Caitlyn does a dance routine, complete with erratic arm movements, and Mitchie says in complete seriousness, "She's really good!"
as a Jonas Brothers fan since 2007 i unfortunately loved this movie 😂😭 Joe still sometimes plays Gotta Find You live which is iconic behaviour tbh
I assume the title is secretly but actually referring to the camp being surrounded by rocks.
P.S. I just noticed how much Joe Jonas looked like Shane Dawson at the time.
Btw Amanda, that Oscar Parasite guy tried to clap back at you in your Parasite video…recently. Like three years late to the party.
Somehow, and I have no idea how, but despite being a little too old for the targeted demo, and having never been into the Jonas Brothers or Demi, this is my guilty pleasure movie. Like, I fully admit that it is absurd and terrible, but I love it anyway.
Same here! I was in college when it came out and I definitely watched it several times.
@@kelseykrehbiel8500 Hello 👋 nice to meet you 😊
I'm honestly waiting for the Julie and the Phantoms review because the actors actually played their instruments on that show, and there's not a miss on that soundtrack, imo
That blue/green tint when Amanda mentionee Twilight had me cackling! 10/10 editing moment! 😂
I know some people hated Camp Rock these days and i understand it has issues but damn nostalgia hit me like a truck lol
the fact you missed out on “play my music” until now??? Criminal
So.... as soon as you mentioned the death cult march, I knew you were going to be disappointed, because its the only thing I remember from the sequel.
Fun fact: in the too cool for you scene where mitchie is singing backup all the girls had to be sewn into their dresses on set.
The fake playing always got me. 😂Since you’re on Disney channel content, I really need to see your reaction to life with Derek! Even as a kid I could see the weird tension between the step siblings!
Apparently, they were aware about how people were shipping Casey and Derek and decided to play up their chemistry more!
Teenagers would love knowing who had an in with the cook, especially if the food is as good as Mitchie’s mom’s supposedly is. They’d be all “hey mitchie, when’s fried chicken?!”
The women who plays Mitchie’s mother also voices Hawkgirl in the 2001 Justice League cartoon, she was my favorite character when I was a kid.
Holy hell she does!
@@LakinMae5 yeah I was so surprised when I found out but if you really listen to her voice you can definitely tell.
Btw high school musical is well known to be way better in regards to storyline and music. Being a fan of both movies when i was 8~10, HSM aged better and has more rewatch from me than camp rock (which i watch just for the memes)
6:49 “we used to be a proper society, and now we’re just luxury rustics” absolutely took me out, thank you
Lemonade Mouth is a masterpiece.
FACT. I loved it so much even though I wasn’t a teen anymore when I watched it. 😅
@@800Ms-k6n those actors are from quite different time periods on Disney Channel lol, Hillary Duff and Zendaya are like a decade apart
@@emilyb.8219 Doesn't really matter, they're still close decades
I think Tess’s plan after finding her song book wasnt to like steal the song or Shane’s attention, I think Tess framed them for stealing the charm bracelet so mitchie would be banned from the final jam and Shane would never find out the girl he heard singing was mitchie (and then Tess would be free to win Shane’s attention and/or the final jam prize)
I was a teen when I first watched this movie..the secret to enjoying it is not thinking. You know they put.those scenes in to make the characters look cool so just make yourself think they are cool and enjoy
Also 'this is me' and 'gotta find you' were in my playlist for years, I still stand by that the songs are bangers
at 19:17 the spanish dub reworked the line as "Wow Eres Muy Lenta" so itd fit the hands, it translates to Wow Youre So Slow and i love it so much
Hasta la Vista is the only thing I remember from this movie. Good bop
Ikr! I still find myself singing it from time to time and I'm like... Where is this coming from? I also liked then Nick Jonas song in that movie, solely because it speeds up as it goes. My English wasn't very good back when I was watching these movies so I had very good cheesiness endurance.
That was my jam 😂😂😂
AMANDA IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE SHADOWHUNTERS VIDEO MY LOVE
I was in my later years of highschool when Lemonade Mouth was released and I unironically love that movie. "Livin' on a Highwire" still kicks ass!!
The song at the end was actually a bonus scene for the dvd. I watched this on Disney Channel all the time, had the CD and knew the song, but I just realized that I have never seen the video before until you mentioned it 😂
I’ve never clicked on a video quicker. And yes Amanda…every single scene in this film was the epitome of cool to us elementary school kids 😂
I could care less about any of the movies and shows that AmandaTheJedi reviews but I can’t stop watching 😅 it’s great watching someone be passionate about something
I'll take it
This feels like a bot comment
I have the fun early gen z experience of camp rocking in elementary school and twilighting in middle school when I was probably too young 😄
the JoBros actually played at my middle school before they got big, and people threw their CDs back at them
As a guitar instructor and board member for a rock camp (part of the GRC alliance), I am A) very happy that rock camp was formative/important to you! And B) glad to see someone else losing their mind over how that definitely wasn't a rock camp.
29:48 they played Disney commercials
I am fairly sure I wasn't in the demographic for either 😂 but I loooooved HSM religiously in high school, I was a musical kid and Camp Rock wasn't "musical theatre enough", so I enjoyed many of the songs but I wasn't never big on the movies. But I kida feel your pain lol I had people constantly recommending Glee to me because I love musical theatre and I spene the best of my youth trying to explain that people singing and musicals are not necessarily the same thing. "But they're singing...you love when people sing... " 🤦🏼♀️😆
Omg, I just received the notification and instantly starting laughing 😂😂 and I was like this is gonna be good 😂😂😂
Ps. Yes, there are people (not his case) that can do their own harmonies, it's called polyphony, for example Anna Marie Hefele
I looked up Anna Maria Hefele because of this comment and WOW she's incredible!!! Really beautiful and otherworldly music.
Thankkkk you. I’ve seen so many fun break downs of this strange movie but no one touched on how there’s no rock at camp rock.
As a Nickelodeon child who never got to experience these Disney movies when I was a kid it’s great to finally learn what these iconic movies are actually about
Hasta La Vista is the only thing I remember from Camp Rock, but it's been stuck in my head ever since childhood. To the point that for years I remembered the song but had no idea it was from Camp Rock.
i cannot emphasize how obsessed i was with this movie as a 10 year old i knew all the songs and dialogue by heart i rewatched it that much but yeah it's not holding up well looking back on it lmaooo i really enjoyed watching you cringe at the questionable decisions in the movie + i absolutely agree with the ranking of the songs you made i think disney probably banked on us kiddos not knowing what actual rock is that's the only reason i can think of that we found this the coolest thing ever
as an elder zoomer who grew up without cabel/the disney channel, I feel validated. thanks for making me feel better about not knowing any DCOMs
I love camp rock despite having never seen it because I came out on the same day as camp rock! We have the same release dates, june 20th 2008 was a true cultural day
4:43 she also voices Hawkgirl in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited...
Fun fact, the mom also voiced Hawkgirl in the Justice League cartoons
It is possible to make your voice sound like two voices at once. The singer Diana Ankudinova can do it. She sings in contralto which is already really rare and on top of that shes capable of polyphony which is over lapping voices.
Her singing is stunning!
Avril's got it beat by 4 years aha
I prefer camp rock 2 for the music but this movie is still iconic in my head even if it's cringe af
Thank you Amanda for leaving in the footage of you trying to sing with two voices. This is a gift unto humanity. I might pass away laughing
I think you missed the point of why This Dude kept saying "Until the end of Final Jam."
She was disqualified from competing because of the alleged charm bracelet theft.
However theres apparently nothing in the rules that say she can't perform just to perform.
As always- thanks for being kind and open minded while offering film critique. That’s kept me coming back for over a year!❤
13:50 unfortunately yes it was SO cool at the time
It just feels like a movie that was made at gunpoint which is exemplified by Demi’s terrifying forced smiles. Leave it to Amanda to make me finally realize why I actually like that damn duet Demi and Joe sing at the end. IT’S BECAUSE THEY RIPPED OFF AVRIL!!! 😤
"BTW, Your Lip gloss is SO not Not GLOSSY anymore!"
That reminded of Lindsey's verbal attack on Heather in Total Drama Island...
Firstly, Joe tore that fuckin dance floor up. Im 27 and couldnt move like that now, secondly I never noticed the back up vocals in this is me before i was such a dumb kid
👏🏼👏🏼 CAMP ROCK!
Fun fact: a person CAN sing two notes at once! It’s called overtone singing, it’s unbelievably difficult, and it also sounds way cooler than Shane Gray harmonizing with himself!
Oh man, Amanda has entered the world of DCOMs 😂
Please please please watch the second movie! Would say it’s ”boppier” than this one and generally better ☺️
OH SHIT IT DOES ALL SOUND LIKE THAT SONG. Probably why I enjoy it so much
I was more of a Vanessa Carlton fan myself.
It didn't bother me that it wasn't true rock, because I didn't really have an idea of what that was at that age lol.
what it takes as the very last ranking is outrageous
Amanda saying "Bop" constantly made me think even more of High School Musical. "BOP BOP BOP"
So in my opinion she now owes us that video!
Oh please do Lemonade Mouth! I have so much nostalgia for that movie ❤ I seem to remember it being pretty good for Disney Channel movie standards... but that could just be the nostalgia goggles talking.
I know my mom really liked it, so that gives me enough hope that maybe it's actually good (it probably isn't but I am a slave to my own delusions)
@@naplockblubba5369 I mean, in the very least I feel like it had some genuine bops
@@efoxkitsune9493 I still think of "Breakthrough" whenever I see the word
I like how the one henchmen who talked about the lip gloss immediately went and joined up with the "Hasta la Vista" guys to perform in the Final Jam. Like you've been henching this whole movie, when did you possibly have time to practice an entire other act? Or are we expected to believe she just joined up the moment after dropping Tess? Because that's a pretty hard sell.
Never really realized Mitchi was such a pick me 😂😂😂
But honestly I got goosebumps from listening to Hasta la Vista, This is me/Gotta be You and We Rock Camp Rock because it hit me with so much nostalgia.
29:25
Yes, here in the US, Disney Channel does have commercials.
Lol
Amanda, I beg of you, HSM Trilogy video and then Cheetah Girls Trilogy video. So much content. So much.
