I remember going there every weekend in the mid 90's. I remember buying comics from K.B. Tobacco . When I got home I watched O.J. riding in his Bronco. I'll never forget that. Thanks for the upload.
Attended ITT Tech. inside the mall from 89-90' across the hall from the Video store. TC's Top Dogs, Coleman's Jewelers, The Hobby Store, Suit Yourself 1 & 2 Memories
I remember in the 80s my parents would always take us here as part of our weekend ritual. First go into the mall and eat at Papa Gino's with the red and white pattern tables then off to the races where my mom and sister would spend way too much time in a store called Debs which was so 80s cool with all of its bright colors fixtures that hung from chains on the ceiling. Mom and Lisa would spend time that felt like an eternity looking lol. I just wanted to go to the hobby store where as a small child I was so wowed by the larger than life remote controlled truck in the window that had a picture of a small kid riding it. It made me want it so bad. Whenever we would go I would run up a small busted hill next to the entrance and one time I found a cool yellow skateboard that I still have at home in my parents house. This is the mall where I begged dad to buy me my very first heavy metal cassette tape which was Motley Crüe Shout at the devil album. So many amazing memories here. Thanks for sharing this treasure .
This was awesome to see again. I lived in Chelsea back in 1983 - 1992 . The mystic mall was life . We always went food shopping at the market basket an shopped at the Kmart . The 1st time an last time I played hukie from school was at the mystic mall my brother yes my brother n two of our friends hang out the whole day in the mall 😂 how fun , easy was life bk then . My brother got a job at market basket he bagged groceries . So yeah many many good memories from back then . Thank you for sharing . 🙏❤️
I remember this mall because I used to shop there when I was a kid. I live in Chelsea since 1993-2006. Now, I came back since 2016-present. Everything in Chelsea is new and different! In the loving memory of the Mystic Mall.
I remember going to the mystic Mall and the old market basket demoulas right near Burger king in living on pine St in Chelsea under the Tobin bridge in the 1980s - Memories.....,,.
Wow this brings back so many memories my entire life I been in chelsea I remember Stuarts store the arcade suit yourself blaze the jewelery store radio shack all of it even the Asian store that we used to go get our name belt buckles
My mom used to love that Deb store. I learned about Moosehead Beer at the store next Papa Ginos. Worst KB toystore ever. We once had someone throw BK ketchup at us when we left the mall. We once had our cal alternator stolen from the parking lot. Good Times.
I spent some good time there when I was in holidays from France I was 20 years old in 1992 when I visited my cousin Franck’s shop : suit yourself… It was a very very awesome good time…. Thanks for this video
Just thought I will share a fun fact. Mystic Mall was part of a set of 4 malls throughout eastern Massachusetts. Of the four, only one remains, the Woburn Mall.
Sure, there was the Mystic Mall in Chelsea, MA, Billerica Mall [Shops at Billerica] in Billerica, MA, Harbourlight Mall in Weymouth, MA (demolished in 2000), and Woburn Mall (still in use today). All info is from labelscar.com
+Anon21486 thank you so much for the quick response! I'm a huge history guy at 38 and North shore guy so familiar with woburn. never quite put it together but both are very similar I assume all 4 were
Looks to be that way. After answering you, I did some researching on my own and found that Harborlight Mall in Weymouth was indeed torn down and Riverway Plaza was built in it's place. As for history, I looked at historic aerial photos and it looks like Harborlight Mall was built on a drive-in movie. It appears it was called Harbourlight Cinema but am not sure. As for Chelsea's Mystic Mall, being from Chelsea myself, Mystic Mall was built after the Great Chelsea Fire of 1973 as that particular area started both the 1973 fire and the greater 1908 fire.
@@Michael20 Infested with bugs. The only safe things to eat were the pasta, and chicken nuggets that came pre packaged in plastic. Everything else came in large packages that had to stay open after first use in the fridge. When you would go into the industrial fridge roaches would scatter everywhere, and every bag of flour had thousands of tiny black bugs crawling around in it. I worked there in 98' and know they had a crooked manager that was stealing money. He was caught, and they changed staff so maybe it was cleaner by the 00's, but I doubt it. I literally got fired for telling those poor old couples that would come in for lunch to not eat there.
@@ΒΞΔΝ bro I was there a lot at papa Gino's during 1998 - 2000 as a kid. I used to go to the arcade next door (forgot the name) after eating some papa but damn if what you are saying is true then this is fucking with my innocent childhood memory. :o appreciate the honesty tho
@@Michael20 Sorry about that my man. I was in the same boat. My dad would take me there as a young kid every friday or saturday to blow my chore money in that arcade "Funky Monkey" I think was the name, and I would eat at that Papa's every time. Had the same feeling of disgust when I worked there as a teen. All true tho, I knew too much about that mall. From the F.B.I. headquarters that fronted as the karate place next to Papa's, The convicted coke dealer that owned the hip hop clothing store, and the convicted pedophile that shortly owned that collectible card shop, and the dry cleaners that would sell fake I.D.s to kids. Other than that, good times a young innocent child haha.
Ahhh..the Mystic Mall. Where you could get a fake ID in the dry cleaners, that was directly next to the "Karate" place with a keypad, always closed, curtains down, front for the F.B.I. headquarters. The Papa Gino's that was insect infested. Junkies nodding off in front of Brooks, and on the benches. At least they had a nice arcade, and smoke shop at one time.
ΒΞΔΝ omg I remember that dry cleaners where’ you could get a fake ID I got one as a kid because we knew the owner. So many memories and that arcade I think it was called funky monkey lol.
i worked at the hobby shop (family hobby) in the late 80's early 90's and my friends dad owned Top Dog and my sister in law's older brother owned teh mall side bad next to osco drug. And who could forget suite yaself!!

It only became a dump when the big stores like Stuart's and KMart left and the Chelsea economy took a dive. But in the 70's &80's it was great. Also the carnival's and festivals held in the parking lot were great memories.

i basically lived in off the wall as a kid playing pokemon. and stop telling papaginos was roach infested lmao
Hey, I loved that place! Where I started collecting, actually. Btw, I think the owner's name was Dave something?
What's the fascination of furniture stores in malls that are on the ropes?
It's the stepping stone down after baby clothes stores 😅
This mall was a dump...
Suit Yourself and the place you could get the fake ID. Lol.
Yeah I can’t remember the names but the black girl and the short guy that worked in the smoke shop was cool as hell
When was mistic mall closed?
