Yea I was really hyped about how dynamic it was gonna be. Also they were gonna make it so that your eyes have to adjust to light when coming from dark areas. This was hinted at in the first teaser trailer with the crows. Guess it was dropped due to technical issues.
I remember hearing that also. And I think another feature was that if Chris suffered heatstroke, he'd hallucinate being attacked by enemies so you'd have to be careful and decide if the enemies coming at you were real or not.

It still amazes me how good-looking a game RE5 is, especially considering the time it came out. Like maybe the best graphics of that console generation, taking everything into account.
Resident Evil 5 and Left 4 Dead 2 - these are the few of my all-time favorite games that are still very good looking even by today's standards. And both of them came out back in 2009!
What could have been. I still like RE5 and have made peace with it as a good game, but the original pitch for it could have been stellar. I remember reading about the light sensitivity mechanics when leaving indoors and heading out in to the blazing sun. Could have been really interesting.

Resident evil 5 seemed like it was supposed to be darker, and more sad than the final product. Wouldn’t mind a remake with a lot of these old concepts and ideas implemented.
Would have more potential in the early phases of the game where it was solo mission. Early version looked like survival horror and as Chris gains more muscle mass, more and more it became action oriented. Either way it's still a good game, Lost Nightmare's is where it's at if you want that classic survival horror, fight or flight.

Or maybe Chris x Wesker and Sheva x Jill, in the middle of game Sheva get another path with his friend to fight Jill so as we play Chris, this Sheva path is off screen and should be played as a DLC later on

After the Jill fight, Jill would join Chris and Josh would make his appearance earlier to tell Sheva that they also have work to do. The DLC would be Sheva and Josh (so we could explore a bit more of their relationship and characters) and at the end they would reunite the same way in the chopper in the volcano.
@@TheFoxInTaleAFC Jill is my second favorite character of the franchise, but i wouldn't like to see Sheva just being thrown aside after all they've been through up until that point in the game, it would've been an insult to her character, specially considering the fact that she's the only black protagonist in RE's history (until now). The trailer before Sheva was implemented looks like what I’d expect from a remake of RE5 in the same vein as RE2R. It reminds me of how I viewed the demo of RE5 as a kid when my brothers downloaded it. After the first attempt at playing it with them, I refused to stay in the room when ever it was being played. The concept of a village’s once peaceful inhabitants turning rabid yet staying organised like a perversion of what once was a human being made me absolutely piss myself in fear, and seeing the game telling you to barricade a house to keep the horde out rather than being able to fight them just added to the horrid thought that you were helpless against such a large threat, and that the entire world you were in wanted you dead. As someone who had only seen power-fantasy shooter games like Halo at that, that concept of not being able to shoot your way out particularly fucked with my head. Ever since I grew up to learn that RE5 was a ridiculous action game through and through with nothing to be afraid of, I’ve always wanted to see a better version where that initial terror of the mob scene never leaves. Where your character, despite having muscles that can beat boulders into submission, is unable to overpower the threat of an entire society turned blood thirsty.

7:28 that looks like the same location you fight the El Gigante's with the turret. In the full game you don't get to walk around in that area, its just for that one boss. I guarantee you there was more to that level but had to be cut in time for release since they changed to co-op so late in development. So that's why all we get a lame on rails turret boss. I still love RE5 for what it is though.
Say what you want against Resident evil 5, but this game has a underrated soundtrack 16:08 . Jesus, the memories. This was the first game i saved my money to buy and was my first Xbox game when i was a teenager, i think differently about the games now, but i can't say i didn't enjoy them.

It's funny how people ended up criticizing the game for being so action packed but these early builds really cranked up the action with how many enemies are on screen at once and it looks very intense. Definitely gets across the horror by swarm idea much better than 4 and the 5 we got did.
@knightofire I strongly disagree with that. RE4 is no less a "shooter" than RE5. RE5 is an excellently designed game with plenty of tension building moments and general improvements to RE4's established formula. Its use of co-op is also not given enough credit when it comes to building tension and horror for the player.

Mercenaries Mode became a Multiplayer Experience, and Originally Sheva would have had a Separate Campaign from Chris but they decided to Condense the gameplay and try to Work with the Brief moment of Co-Ops Mechanics RE4 introduces. With Luis/Ashley or Ada. They followed that Formula from them on with RE6. Leading to Stories that Intersect. Only RE6 Push it further with Allowing Players to Invade your Game as Zombies/Monsters or Jump into the Action at any point as an Ally.

I love the fact that Chris was muscled up, it only make sense that he'd do that considering the evil he faced an will face (tyrant, etc from re1). He didn't have a special government training like leon did, so him hulking up made sense for me. Wasn't na fan of the partner part though, best if it was solo from start to finish with sheva having her own mini story missions.
I should clarify and say RE5 was their second most successful at the time. The likes of Monster Hunter World, RE2 remake, and RE7 have crushed those numbers since.
if they somehow decided to do a remake on this one, i hope they go with the original plan, where you are alone, stranded in a middle of nowhere, everyone wants to kill you..and bring back that dodge move and ability to punch right after break free from enemy grab,

(S.T.A.R.S Outfit) #3 Wesker will Perform the Trailer's Punch after a Dodge or Dashing. Default RE5 Wesker The Floor Executions on Enemys are just the Variations of Weskers Moves carried from RE4 Mercenaries mode.

Back in 2007 and 2008 I was just a kid (11 and 12 yrs old, respectivelly) and I remember how I was gawking and salivating (not literally but you get it) at these trailers, all the while thinking "the future of gaming has already begun, this is going to be fucking awesome". I cannot say that I am happy with the current state of videogaming industry as it is right now, but at least my highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 delivered it all and did not disappointed me! :) Old games are the best games.
I remember when i first saw this images, it was one of my first contacts with the next gen (currently, the last gen). It blew my mind. The first image was one of chris looking at the sun, amazing. I searched for the picture now, and it looks so bad, hahaha... Every generation is the same, i remember to be mind blown with re3 graphics 20 years ago, just as i was with the last of us 1. My first time playing a next (past) gen game was gears of war 1.
El GabiURB it has good graphics, but better than many current games i dont really agree. Check some gameplay footage of the ps3 version, it doesnt look so pretty as you might remember, lol (i love the last of us, i got both ps3 and ps4 version of it). Its very outdated, but its nice.
RE5 is probably the best looking RE game besides RE2:Remake. It holds up very great today! Even out-performing a lot of PS4 & XboxOne games graphically. They used a really good engine, however RE6, which used the same engine, is noticeable less graphically impressive compared to RE5.

I love how the prototype versions show 20+ majini on screen, they probably toned it down due to CPU limitations but the combat would have been so awesome
The Majini also had a Restraining Move not in the Final Version of the game where they pinned you to the Ground shown in one of the trailers. That would have added to the Adrenaline Factor and Quick time Events Scheme.
To be honest, this version would've been much more fitting of a balanced survival/action-horror Resident Evil. Specially in the early stages of development, and the more ample space and undead-like enemies.
If they do ever decide to remake RE5, I hope they select the solo player route with chris and sheva getting separated from each other on their mission. That will make RE5 an entirely different remake as it will grab a lot of attention.
CAPCOM really dropped the ball with this. Imagine an RE5 with fast zombies instead of Las Plagas, your eyes reacting to the sun when you exit dark places, dehydration from the heat, and NO BUFF CHRIS PUNCHING A BOULDER! If an RE5 remake ever happens, they need to use the original concept!!!
Re5 is so much underrated from fans of the first trilogy (who also I am but I love Re5). It's the most challenging in the franchise, has the best boss fights and also has Wesker.

You can tell they also decreased the number of majini in the final build I liked the beta version in the early part of this video chris isn't so buff but still capable and has to work around the horde instead of straight up assault much more realistic and kinda gives off the omnipresence vibe that zombies had in the original re2 game. It's more unsettling the less we see the common enemies the more frightening they'd be especially the axe dude they shoulda made him appear more same with those reapers.
I honestly dig the beta design of Chris. He looks more like a fit guy rather than DK from Nintendo's games lol, glad they took something more similar to that in RE 6
I'm replaying RE5 for the first time in about 6 years and remembering how much I enjoy it, but I still wish we would have gotten the original beta build. I like Sheva's character and feel she was wasted on being an AI partner. She should have had a similar role to Luis in RE4. Appearing occasionally to help and letting us find out more about her tragic origin outside of an unlockable wall of text.
They've completely forgotten about Sheva, Sidelined her like Hunnigan. Although I recall one of Sheva's outfits was a Reference to Leon's Operator. Someday they may bring her back for a Game or not, only time will tell. They could have Killed her Off, she may have Retired, but She was never mentioned after RE5. Only the Comic books series/Manga Tie-In offered some Closure.
@@ivansalcedo2290 Resident Evil rarely ever brings side characters back. Carlos, Billy, Ashley, Helena, Parker, Jessica, Moira, and Natalia never returned so it's not just Sheva. Even Jake who was one of the main protagonists of RE6 was never shown or mentioned after the game. Barry, Rebecca, Ada, and Sherry have more plot relevance so they were always going to return.
it looks like originally it was a single player game with only chris. i guess sheva was still in the game, but only showed up occasionally as a NPC. i wonder how much they had to rework to implement co op. the game looks pretty close to the final version, so i can only imagine how far they already were into development and how much level designing they had to redo for sheva. not only that, but AI too. AI would have to be reprogrammed since theres two players now and not just one, plus now you need to implement a new AI as your partner too. we dont appreciate capcom enough for the effort they put in their games. RE5 turned out great!
I miss Sheva... She was dope and I lowkey can't believe they've done nothing with her since. Hopefully they make her a big part of the BSAA going forward. They gotta focus on older heroes a little more. I'm still mad we know NOTHING about Jill after 5 too... Like, she's REs final girl and we haven't seen her story develope in a long time. Also, would it kill them to kill someone off? I would rather a character die than straight up be ignored and never talked about again.
Jill will be in the Newest Resident Evil Movie with Leon and Chris. The last film had Rebecca Chambers in it And Ada, Leon, and Claire were the Stars of the First two of 4 CGI films
This game fell short for me after how masterful RE4 was but man it’s still a blast to play with a friend. May not be a good RE but it still ended up being a really fun game.
They actually saw the massive hit Gear of War had become so they added the co op since that was so integral to that series success. Kind of ironic as Gears main influence is RE4.
Spike Thunder im not so sure anout that. Alot of the concept art showed Chris having a female partner. Maybe the partner turning into Sheva eas because of the criticism.
Everybody wants a RE5 remake to be a modern version of the original coop game(which was great). I however want the original single player sequel to RE4 type that was originally planned. Wish there was a way to make it have coop, but still be more inline with the older games. Like coop is there, but it doesn't feel like a coop game when your playing alone.

The trailer before Sheva was implemented looks like what I’d expect from a remake of RE5 in the same vein as RE2R.
It reminds me of how I viewed the demo of RE5 as a kid when my brothers downloaded it. After the first attempt at playing it with them, I refused to stay in the room when ever it was being played. The concept of a village’s once peaceful inhabitants turning rabid yet staying organised like a perversion of what once was a human being made me absolutely piss myself in fear, and seeing the game telling you to barricade a house to keep the horde out rather than being able to fight them just added to the horrid thought that you were helpless against such a large threat, and that the entire world you were in wanted you dead. As someone who had only seen power-fantasy shooter games like Halo at that, that concept of not being able to shoot your way out particularly fucked with my head.
Ever since I grew up to learn that RE5 was a ridiculous action game through and through with nothing to be afraid of, I’ve always wanted to see a better version where that initial terror of the mob scene never leaves. Where your character, despite having muscles that can beat boulders into submission, is unable to overpower the threat of an entire society turned blood thirsty.

7:28 that looks like the same location you fight the El Gigante's with the turret. In the full game you don't get to walk around in that area, its just for that one boss. I guarantee you there was more to that level but had to be cut in time for release since they changed to co-op so late in development. So that's why all we get a lame on rails turret boss. I still love RE5 for what it is though.
Say what you want against Resident evil 5, but this game has a underrated soundtrack 16:08 . Jesus, the memories. This was the first game i saved my money to buy and was my first Xbox game when i was a teenager, i think differently about the games now, but i can't say i didn't enjoy them.

It's funny how people ended up criticizing the game for being so action packed but these early builds really cranked up the action with how many enemies are on screen at once and it looks very intense. Definitely gets across the horror by swarm idea much better than 4 and the 5 we got did.
@knightofire I strongly disagree with that. RE4 is no less a "shooter" than RE5. RE5 is an excellently designed game with plenty of tension building moments and general improvements to RE4's established formula. Its use of co-op is also not given enough credit when it comes to building tension and horror for the player.

They wanted to Extend on what RE4 successfully did.
Mercenaries Mode became a Multiplayer Experience, and Originally Sheva would have had a Separate Campaign from Chris but they decided to Condense the gameplay and try to Work with the Brief moment of Co-Ops Mechanics RE4 introduces. With Luis/Ashley or Ada.
They followed that Formula from them on with RE6. Leading to Stories that Intersect. Only RE6 Push it further with Allowing Players to Invade your Game as Zombies/Monsters or Jump into the Action at any point as an Ally.

I love the fact that Chris was muscled up, it only make sense that he'd do that considering the evil he faced an will face (tyrant, etc from re1). He didn't have a special government training like leon did, so him hulking up made sense for me. Wasn't na fan of the partner part though, best if it was solo from start to finish with sheva having her own mini story missions.
The last part with the concept arts and the ending music made me feel sad UnU 💔

They have to Remake RE5. It was their second most successful game. Only beaten by Street Fighter 2 and its 50 million remakes.
I should clarify and say RE5 was their second most successful at the time. The likes of Monster Hunter World, RE2 remake, and RE7 have crushed those numbers since.

Wesker will do three specific Variations of the Punch.
#1 he will Strike with his Palm after an Elbow Break Away from a Grapple
(RE4 Wesker Move)
#2 He will Perform an UpperCut like Chris's Default Shake-off but Wesker will make the Enemies Head Explode into Giblets.
(S.T.A.R.S Outfit)
#3 Wesker will Perform the Trailer's Punch after a Dodge or Dashing.

The Floor Executions on Enemys are just the Variations of Weskers Moves carried from RE4 Mercenaries mode.

Same man. Back in 2007 and 2008 I was just a kid (11 and 12 yrs old, respectivelly) and I remember how I was gawking and salivating (not literally but you get it) at these trailers, all the while thinking "the future of gaming has already begun, this is going to be fucking awesome".
I cannot say that I am happy with the current state of videogaming industry as it is right now, but at least my highly anticipated Resident Evil 5 delivered it all and did not disappointed me! :)

I remember when i first saw this images, it was one of my first contacts with the next gen (currently, the last gen). It blew my mind. The first image was one of chris looking at the sun, amazing. I searched for the picture now, and it looks so bad, hahaha... Every generation is the same, i remember to be mind blown with re3 graphics 20 years ago, just as i was with the last of us 1. My first time playing a next (past) gen game was gears of war 1.

RE5 is probably the best looking RE game besides RE2:Remake. It holds up very great today! Even out-performing a lot of PS4 & XboxOne games graphically. They used a really good engine, however RE6, which used the same engine, is noticeable less graphically impressive compared to RE5.

RE2 Tofu & HUNK, RE4 Mercenaries Mode and RE3 Mercenary Modes were all leading up to an Inevitable Chain of Multiplayer Demographics
RE 5 and RE 6 has also single player mode but don't play on coop mode.
I love how the prototype versions show 20+ majini on screen, they probably toned it down due to CPU limitations but the combat would have been so awesome
The Majini also had a Restraining Move not in the Final Version of the game where they pinned you to the Ground shown in one of the trailers. That would have added to the Adrenaline Factor and Quick time Events Scheme.

CAPCOM really dropped the ball with this. Imagine an RE5 with fast zombies instead of Las Plagas, your eyes reacting to the sun when you exit dark places, dehydration from the heat, and NO BUFF CHRIS PUNCHING A BOULDER! If an RE5 remake ever happens, they need to use the original concept!!!

Re5 is so much underrated from fans of the first trilogy (who also I am but I love Re5). It's the most challenging in the franchise, has the best boss fights and also has Wesker.

You can tell they also decreased the number of majini in the final build I liked the beta version in the early part of this video chris isn't so buff but still capable and has to work around the horde instead of straight up assault much more realistic and kinda gives off the omnipresence vibe that zombies had in the original re2 game. It's more unsettling the less we see the common enemies the more frightening they'd be especially the axe dude they shoulda made him appear more same with those reapers.

I honestly dig the beta design of Chris. He looks more like a fit guy rather than DK from Nintendo's games lol, glad they took something more similar to that in RE 6
I'm replaying RE5 for the first time in about 6 years and remembering how much I enjoy it, but I still wish we would have gotten the original beta build. I like Sheva's character and feel she was wasted on being an AI partner. She should have had a similar role to Luis in RE4. Appearing occasionally to help and letting us find out more about her tragic origin outside of an unlockable wall of text.
They've completely forgotten about Sheva, Sidelined her like Hunnigan. Although I recall one of Sheva's outfits was a Reference to Leon's Operator.
Someday they may bring her back for a Game or not, only time will tell.
They could have Killed her Off, she may have Retired, but She was never mentioned after RE5. Only the Comic books series/Manga Tie-In offered some Closure.
@@ivansalcedo2290 Resident Evil rarely ever brings side characters back. Carlos, Billy, Ashley, Helena, Parker, Jessica, Moira, and Natalia never returned so it's not just Sheva. Even Jake who was one of the main protagonists of RE6 was never shown or mentioned after the game. Barry, Rebecca, Ada, and Sherry have more plot relevance so they were always going to return.
it looks like originally it was a single player game with only chris. i guess sheva was still in the game, but only showed up occasionally as a NPC. i wonder how much they had to rework to implement co op. the game looks pretty close to the final version, so i can only imagine how far they already were into development and how much level designing they had to redo for sheva. not only that, but AI too. AI would have to be reprogrammed since theres two players now and not just one, plus now you need to implement a new AI as your partner too.
we dont appreciate capcom enough for the effort they put in their games. RE5 turned out great!

@Dr VR Well, it was nice of them to work on an AI partner in singleplayer mode. Something I can't find it too much in PVE modes.
They actually saw the massive hit Gear of War had become so they added the co op since that was so integral to that series success. Kind of ironic as Gears main influence is RE4.

Everybody wants a RE5 remake to be a modern version of the original coop game(which was great). I however want the original single player sequel to RE4 type that was originally planned. Wish there was a way to make it have coop, but still be more inline with the older games. Like coop is there, but it doesn't feel like a coop game when your playing alone.
