    You are the man! I just fix my LG dryer with that simple fix. They wanted to charge me $125 for a service call even though I bought a 10 year warranty. We were going to buy a new dryer but the sale was just over yesterday. You saved me several hundred dollars. God bless

    Welp, I was just about to take the whole front of the dryer off to do this before I came across this video. It saved me at least an hour of work for sure! I'm not really sure how much difference anyone will see by just cleaning the moisture sensor stainless rods, unless there's visible evidence that, as the OP stated, there's something like lint or hair, etc. between them.
    In my case it was evident that the two electrical plugs at the rear and the spades that fit into them were solidly packed with lint in such a way as to short the stainless rods out. One can imagine this lint absorbing the humid air as the dryer cycle goes on in time and then causing erroneous measurements to the controller.
    I have cleaned mine out and the dryer is working like new again. Kudos to the OP.

    It was a very helpful video. My husbands parkinsons makes it impossible to do anything like this. I had to work on it myself. I cleaned out lint around the area of the prong plug as much as I could the screws were a bit difficult to line up but after my stopping for a brake I decided to put side screws in first the bottom last. That allowed me to line up the screws better.
    I am 69 and pretty thankful to try this for myself

  • @ratspam7655

    2:58 The problem is often a build-up of lint at the two connectors which shorts out the sensor even when the filter is clean and the path from the filter to the exhaust port on the wall is also clear. Carefully pull the two connectors and clean away *ALL* lint build-up, then re-install.
    If that fails, then you need to clean the two metal bars which act as the moisture sensor with isopropyl alcohol. You can test the effectiveness of your cleaning by doing a resistance test with your multimeter before and after cleaning.
    Finally, don’t try to start the dryer with any wet clothes touching the sensor.

    Thanks for the video. Much appreciated. I didn't know you could remove the filter assembly to clean down in that hole. I was able to remove a little extra build up. However, after cleaning the sensor the dryer still tends the "dryest" sensor setting with clothes that are damp. Would you recommend that I buy and replace the sensor? Or do you think there could be something else going on? Hot air blows out of the tube and I can just do a little extra dry time on timed dry... but if I forget, the clothes will get musty by the next day. I'd rather avoid that altogether.

    My issue was that when it was put together the alignment pin on the right side of the main trap unit was not put in properly. The only way I was able to get it to like up was to loosley screw the sensor part in then put the main assembly in. Once I got it realigned it was hard to get the screw to go in as it had never gone in correctly. Once it was all in it solved two issues. The door popping open and clothes getting caught on the trap assembly. Thanks for the Video.

They don't know what they are doing, and don't conduct any product research., or accept feedback from customers. I know a better moisture sensor can be designed. These two strips are very ineffective. The dryers look good on the show room floor, but that's were it ends. They are not good clothes dryers.

    Curious how people have 'cleaned' the moisture sensors? Ultra fine steel wool? Wipe them with rubbing alcohol? Or do folks just replace them because they are so cheap?
    Would love some feedback.

    • @mygiguser
      @mygiguser  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      B Muldoon what are those sensors made of? Just two stainless steel contacts? You just remove the dirt, dust between them without destroying the plastic in between the contacts. Any chemical could cause trouble.

    Or, just pull out the filter, as usual and clean it (You do this after every load already, right?!) and blast the whole area with high pressure air. Done. 👏

    • @mygiguser
      @mygiguser  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ckeilah oh yes, now in this case a string got stuck underneath both contact pads, that was interfering with the sensor reading. And the dryer turned off too early.

      He is not in any way attempting to show the normal procedure for cleaning lint between dryer loads. It's pretty obvious that he is showing how to get to the sensor in case it also needs to be cleaned. The fact that you cannot imagine any reason why you would have to take it apart like this tells me you've probably never repaired anything in your life

    why won't my LG dryer model# DLE1501W start working even after I cleaned the filters?

    • @elmbaker1683
      @elmbaker1683 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it running at all? Or is it just not heating? If it runs but no heat it can be a thermostat, thermistor, flame sensor and igniter or even a gas valve assembly (least likely). If not any of the above then the only thing left is electric current if it's electric and the control board last after you checked everything else.
      If it doesn't run at all check the door switch or control board.

    This sensor doesn't work at all well even on brand new LG dryer. I'm forced to just used "Timed Dry" to get my clothes actually dry. Much of the control system on an LG dryer is bogus.

      @@mygiguser I said it doesn't work "well" meaning some of the clothes are still damp when the machine shuts off. I believe this system is dependent on the clothes actually rubbing on the sensors. I'm going to test mine by taping a damp cloth over the two strips.

    Video never shows the actual cleaning,I cleaned mine without removing the sensor here`s how and it worked for me.First unplug.Clean paper towel and put a little rubbing alcohol on it then wipe then gently wipe the sensor bars.Let them dry then gently wipe any residual alcohol with a soft cloth(I used microfiber),plug in and good to go.This absolutely worked for me since the timer started at 41 min. then dropped to 1 after about 3.Tested by adding a large load,the sensor added 34 minutes b/c the load was not dry yet.

    • @mygiguser

      Be very careful with using alcohol, and any other combustible fluid in a dryer!!! The dryer is creating the heat by an open flame in the gas burner, and the whole thing could explode under the right circumstances.
