  • Memory Palace training exercises are great, but if you don't know how to create or use a Memory Palace, please grab my FREE Memory Improvement Kit here:
    www.magneticmemorymethod.com/yt
    Whether you're looking for mind games to improve memory for elderly people, or memory training exercises that work better than memory training apps, I'm confident you'll find the Memory Palace training program discussed in this video powerful for improving how you use mnemonics.
    Mind Palace practice is quite simple and when you devote yourself to method of loci training, (yes, even with a Memory Palace Android app if you must)...
    ... this free memory training is the best you'll find among all of the free memory building games.
    That's because we're devoted at Magnetic Memory Method to providing memory training techniques and free brain training games based on real science.
    These also games to improve memory and concentration better than any digital memory palace training app or memory training software because of how those tools can cause Digital Amnesia (or even Digital Dementia).
    And of course, you can scroll up and register for my free memory training course any time. You won't find memory training free like this anywhere else.
    And although this is more advanced than games to improve memory for kids, if you compare the Memory Palace training exercises in this video with other free brain games for adults, all those other memory power games will pale in comparison.
    I hope you enjoy my memory improvement tips.

    CURE:
    C - Create memory palaces
    U - Use your memory palaces
    R - Rack 'em (dynamic, striking, & familiar visualizations)
    E - Explain it to your brain (practice M.P.s in different spaces and order. It gets brain more familiar)

    I have watched 3 of your videos, I normally try and find all the free information on a subject I can. 22 years ago I fell 25 feet, forgot an entire day of my life. Damaged the short term memory portion of my brain. The last 4 years I have been dealing with a spinal cord injury that I am taking meds for that effect my memory even worse. I have spent the last 3 days researching memory and I am impressed with your methods. Thank you for the videos you have put out there. I’m going to watch as many of them as I can. I am also planning on buying your program. It all makes so much sense and your teaching method is so clear.

    I just discovered your channel very recently and I find it incredible. As for me, I'm French and I'm a student in my first year of medicine, and I have trouble memorizing my lessons down to the smallest details, that's why I turned to mental palaces and I'm currently trying to create my first one. All this to ask you if the exercises you propose here are only for people who have already created palaces, and if you have any advice to give me. Thank you very much for your help and kindness you bring through these vids.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for your post!
      You can definitely get started with these exercises with just one Memory Palace. But everything is going to be a lot better and easier and faster if you set a short amount of time aside to create multiple Memory Palaces and start using them consistently.
      As for advice, I strongly suggest you invest in learning the foundations and apply them consistently. It's common sense to be consistent based on foundational learning, but as we know, common sense is not so common.
      Does this way of looking at things help you out?

  • @Adragos17
    @Adragos17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Amazing! Thank you! I am learning to set times, time attack train, stack new info with older info (older the better), this helps me understand the memory palace better. I am starting a habit to train 1% of my day every day with this stuff, at a minimum.( 14 min 24 seconds) I have bought journals for tracking. I am reluctant to track with numbers like you suggest but if that is apart of best practices than so be it.
    I am going to Master this. I have so much I want to learn!

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad this helped you out and thanks for taking a moment to let me know. You can nail this and feel free to go ahead without tracking. If you're not getting results, come back to this technique. Most top performers track their results, but not necessarily all of them. :)

    • @Adragos17
      @Adragos17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This helps to add what i know from people like Kevin Horsely, Ron White, Jonathan Levi, Etc. I do track some of my progress in my head and keep mental journals as well starting the physical ones. I have been getting results which is why i wanna get better at the memory palace. It seems to be a foundation for these best practice memory techniques along with memory stacking. ( pairing new information with an old memory.) I am memorizing peoples birthdays, names, streets, liscense plates, decks of cards, basically practicing anywhere and anyway i can. I wanna get faster and accelerate my minds ability to learn. I also started a workout routine.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great notes.
      The problem with tracking your results in your mind is that is time and energy that could be devoted to memorizing the information that improves your life.
      There's no shame in keeping a journal so you can track your progress. Imagine an artist who never kept a sketchbook to improve their drawing over time? They would never get anywhere by trying to remember what they drew over the past few months.
      Again, there's no law that says you have to keep one, only a very logical track record in many disciplines that tracking works to great even more success at a much faster level. For more info, please see:
      www.magneticmemorymethod.com/freedom-journal/

    • @Adragos17
      @Adragos17 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anthony Metivier Thanks for the follow ups and encouragement. In all honesty i am not sure how to go about tracking my results and progress. Just the habits themselves. I have not come across materials that breaks that down as of yet. I know how i could track my progress on my card memorizing but not sure about the other stuff.

    • @Adragos17
      @Adragos17 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Anthony for the encouragement and the links. I'll start tracking my progress in steps, goals, and percentages. And so daily comparisons of weekly ones. Reflecting on the suggestion and all I have seen so far it is one of the foundational ways to accelerate this process. Looking forward to going through your memory kit by the way!

      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great that you're down with the "training" message. It's important.
      For programming you want:
      1. A full Memory Palace Network
      2. At least one alphabet list
      3. The Major System or equivalent
      4. A symbol list
      5. Knowledge of how to use Recall Rehearsal
      Most people who focus can develop all these systems within a weekend. Then it's just practice with the information you want to learn after that.
      Does this help you out? :-)

    I don’t draw my memory palaces, but I do type down where microstations are at in my palaces. I keep a journal of all memory palaces by typing it all out in a paragraph format and then rehearse all of them every weekend. One thing I do recommend is to use anki to keep track of every single memory palace to ask yourself what do you think about for this certain place

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for this, Vunami.
      I previously used Excel files to do something similar. I have a VERY old video about that here:
      th-cam.com/video/UMPMuOyfke4/w-d-xo.html
      I stopped because I started to notice the effects of Digital Amnesia, a.k.a. Digital Dementia / The Google Effect. I noticed that drawing Memory Palaces gets way better results each and every time.
      This effect may be partially generational, however. Your idea to get Anki into the mix could be powerful for some people. But as a general rule of thumb, it's important to try a few different ways and try those ways a few times again in the future. Always go back to the well in order to keep improving.
      Thanks as ever for your comment and look forward to the next one! :)

    What sort of information should we put in our mind palaces? There are many different things, e.g. people's names, school content, passwords, lists etc. Also, while our memory stations are visualised(e.g. a wardrobe), should our information/data also be visualised or can I simply assign it by thinking in my head something like "wardrobe = [data]"? Thank you.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, Ryan.
      I suggest that you go through this presentation for the fullest possible answer - or the ability to answer it for yourself, because no one can tell you but yourself:
      th-cam.com/video/MFz31HpVkj0/w-d-xo.html
      About visualization, there is no "should" about it because you need to learn how to encode with more than just visuals. I suggest learning all 8 of the Magnetic Modes to ensure that you're operating at full power.

Let's say I have to remember several words for a test- I put them in my memory palace. After the test I don't need these words anymore but I have to remember another thing, for example a phone number. Can I use the same 'room' in my palace as before? Or for remembering one time things (like for a test) I should use a different technic and leave the palace method only for important/permanent pieces of information?

    i just learned about this technique few months ago..and also watched couples of videos on how to use it , BUT i have one question in mind it is that , for using MEMORY PALACE we are often told to use furniture of our house or of any known location, so what to do when u have more information than furniture . how to increase mind palace in size? or is it possible to draw our own mind palace in sheets of papers, like different palaces for different bunch of information? also can we use pictures like real photograph of any location to build a palace ?
    i know those are lots of questions in ONE , but believe me this is freaking me out.

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions, Aditya. I compliment you for thinking them through.
      When you create and continue growing your Memory Palace Network, you should never run out of places. Plus, you'll learn the Principle of Compounding, which lets you maximize your use of each Magnetic Station. In some cases, it's possible (and wise) to re-use Memory Palaces.
      I don't suggest increasing Memory Palace sizes, and have discussed why at length here:
      www.magneticmemorymethod.com/how-to-renovate-a-memory-palace/
      Yes, Memory Palaces are usually best when drawn on paper. That's how we build our networks quickly.
      You can use a photograph, but I suggest working from memory alone. This will strengthen your memory.

      You can, but it depends on your level of skill. Thanks for the question and please look out for an email reply as well.
      As for memories lasting forever, no one seemingly lives forever, so the answer is probably no. But if we have specific memories we want to keep for specific periods of time, there are ways to get them to stay. Try your idea.
      If it works, try to determine what made it work. Then do more of that and seek to improve it.
      If it doesn't work, try to find out why. Try again under different circumstances, or leave for better techniques and explore again later if it seems reasonable to do so.

      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for this, Michael.
      It seems to me that the only way you can reach something like "unlimited" room is through having multiple Memory Palaces. No one will ever live long enough to use every building in the world, so it would be very hard for them to tap out all the available space.
      I encourage people to set more distinct goals and not worry about things that aren't mentally conceivable. Memory techniques rely on the ability to conceive, and for that reason we need to focus on the space that we have *so that* we can use of it as an act of conception. :-)

    Anthony I have one more question. I have something about 100 loci. I have 10 days to remember medium-length text. These are two Corinthians from Bible. Let's say it's about 30 pages. Am I able to do that? How many loci will I need? One loci per one verset?
    I think that it's not a problem to create even something about 300 locations until tomorrow, but the question is: should I experiment with memorizing like that or better not, as I have only 10 days?
    I'm totally surprised, because the method of loci really works for me, to remember words, lists and even texts, but I do not have experience in that yet?

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's great to hear that this kind of memory technique is working for you, Ziomeq!
      I don't deal with the Method of Loci, however. Magnetic Stations in the Magnetic Memory Method are somewhat different and utilize other tools such as Bridging Figures.
      Depending on what you mean by "300 locations," this should be doable. In general, however, I suggest that people dig their wells with the Magnetic Memory Method before they get thirsty. That way you don't have to experiment at the last minute.
      But since you are dealing with a last minute situation, you have the option of using what you already know and experimenting or booking a strategy session to get some guidance.
      In general, however, it sounds like you're on the right path. If you need help, send me an email for details and the exact text you're memorizing. 10 days is likely more than enough, but I can't be certain without knowing more about your project and your current level of skill.
      Thanks for asking and have fun with this. You have an amazing adventure ahead of you with these techniques! :)

I heard you can’t improve working memory, other then maybe with nutrition. Sometimes as I’m reading, I’m thinking to myself, god, I wonder how damaged my working memory is and if I’m forgetting everything I read. When I pause to think about and review what I just read, my mind often feels a little blank.

      In terms of ideas like "long term memory," "short term memory" and "working memory," all of these are comprehensively improved by memory training. They are just scientific terms and it's important not to get hung up on them.
      It's also important not to focus on the problem or the feeling that one has a problem. Memory training is the solution. Memorize and recall something meaningful every day for 90 days and you'll be amazed by how much better your memory is. :)

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM yes true. But hope you don't wait alot for my next post because I had burnout now and I need some rest from mind palaces 😂😂😂😂 but at least in this meta observation the solution to not need for repetition in different times is repetition in one time. It is similar to rote memorization but it is not because it requires thinking. I just pick 4 items in 4 stages each time and put them in my short term memory and repeat them over and over again without looking to the list before getting towards next 4 items but I repeat them in different orders. Like ABCD ABDC ACBD ACDB and so on So I need to regenerate that list in different orders over and over again and I also memorized the algorithm of sorting 4 items instead of the list of all the possible orders of 4 items Like
      Axxx - Bxxx - Cxxx - Dxxx and for the 2nd item I put the remaining options in order like
      ABxx - ACxx - ADxx
      BAxx - BCxx - BDxx
      CAxx - CBxx - CDxx
      DAxx - DBxx - DCxx
      And then double each of previous options to make the remaining combinations which becomes something like ABCD - ABDC or like DABC - DACB.
      What you think about storing data in my long term memory with no need for revision in this manner doctor?

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  ปีที่แล้ว

      Give it a try, keeping in mind that forming memories without revising them is impossible. We memorize precisely so that we might repeat, and repetition is revision.

    Have you, like me, noticed that the information that is deposited in our mind, once well established, seems to create the space it occupies, a bit like matter dictates to space how to bend. I see a parallel between information and mental space versus matter and space-time. A bit as if the universe were like a gigantic memory palace. If so, it is therefore infinite. So Bruno was right. Have a good day!

    • @christianloranger9559
      @christianloranger9559 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Each mass plot contains information, spin, charge, mass, atomic weight, melting point, pH, velocity, pressure, volume, density, etc. So we can technically say that the mass contains a lot of information. Information is contained in space, it is indistinguishable from mass, mass dictates its form to space. Mass is contained in space. The information must be contained in a medium. So the universe is a memory. The loci method works wonderfully since it establishes benchmarks in our minds, all independent of each other. Just like what's going on in the universe. Time and space are calculated according to a reference system specific to each moving system and none is privileged. A memory palace establishes a referential in a space which does not occupy volume, the mind. I swear I'm not crazy I'm a normall guy with weird hobby. sorry for the bad english.

      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting thoughts.
      There may well be a parallel here, though I'm not sure I would go so far as anthropomorphizing the universe in this way. The entire notion of "having" anything is far too limiting a concept, even amongst us humans.

    • @christianloranger9559
      @christianloranger9559 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM Thanks for the reply! Information about matter must be extract, the same way that every piece of information must be decoded to have an effect in reality. For exemple, a DVD. The movie engrave in the disc, have no effect whatsoever in reality unless it is decode by the right decoder, the DVD player in this case. A molecule of DNA means nothing without the incredible molecular machine wich decode it. The same principle apply to a specific hormone wich creates an effect only in the right receptor. Information must be decode or extracted to create something when we talk about matter. Humans can extract that information, put it in order, spot the mathematical logic behind it and discover new way of not only distinguish patterns but create new ones. I don't thinks this capability is strickly a human thing. ( btw i'm so sorry for the poor english, i have some difficulties explaining what i want to say, damn you Quebec! :)

    • @AnthonyMetivierMMM
      @AnthonyMetivierMMM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your English comes through very well!
      It's entirely possible that meaning and memory may belong to other things. But the time to believe that is when we have irrefutable evidence.
      Thus far, what we actually have is humans who use language to explain parallels and analogies between things. But the fact that a DVD helps us store and retrieve information is neither entirely like or particularly the same as what human memory does. DVDs and DNA do not appear to have procedural, prospective, figural, episodic, autobiographical or any other level of memory that humans do.
      Thus, I would humbly submit that we not anthropomorphosize digital storage, biological storage or anything else. It might make us feel clever and even good, but it's not well-evidenced and amounts to little more than using a trick of language, rather than removing language from the equation to help us attempt to see what is "really" going on.
      I place "really" in quotes because that notion is appearing consciousness that is either nested in memory, or the product of consciousness itself.
      Either way, Bruno was much more like Wittgenstein than Plato, and I'm confident he would have urged us to avoid reifying human language and its need to make analogies unless we have harder evidence to warrant doing so.

      @@AnthonyMetivierMMM You're right. Analogies are not a consistent proof of anything. But there seems to be some very.strong analogy.in nature. Proteins,.wich can take infinite forms with only 20 (22) amino acids. The analogy with the human phonetic alphabet is, well, beautiful per say. But.is there really something like an analogy wich can be treated as a proof? Because those analogies have all tbe same common theme wich is grosso modo the capacity to create infinite things with a finite number of thing. Wich is at the base of our language. To put it straight i would say : don't you think that if there is intelligent life out there they may thinks and speak a little bit like us, human? Because "l'homme est la mesure de l'homme", we.will always be locked in some sort of a priori about reality? Thanks a lot for you reply!
