Regarding jazz chords I’ve always heard that the difference between a rock guitarist and a jazz guitarist is that the rock guitarist plays three chords for a million people and a jazz guitarist plays a million chords for three people.

Ibanez guitars are great! Been playing them since the late 80's, they have always been my go to guitar. I would have been a little nervous playing in front of Nita too, she rocks!
I’m late to this party, but I just had to add my .02 worth...I picked up one of these beauties two weeks ago...by accident. I was looking into the S-Series Ibanez for comfort, but I knew that they are basically a shredding machine - something I don’t do. I was looking for something light weight, balanced with no neck dive and something that had an easy-on-the-fingers neck/fretboard. I play jazz and classic rock/blues, so I figured there would be no way this guitar would fit those genera but I wanted to give it a run anyway. It blew my mind! It is THE most comfortable, most playable guitar I have ever laid hands on in my hundreds of years of playing! I absolutely HAD TO HAVE IT! At Guitar Center I played thru a Deluxe Reverb reissue because that is one amp that I have. Once I got the guitar home I played it thru - get ready for this - my Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge! At low to medium volumes I get the sweetest jazz and classic rock sounds imaginable! Clean tone Heaven! I do like solid state amps for jazz, but because I couldn’t wait to set up my big amps, I just plugged into the Fishman, and I was astounded by how creamy the neck pup could be with the tone knob turned down slightly. I haven’t to this day even tried it with my Fender Custom Shop ‘64 Deluxe Reverb hand-wired reissue or my Fender Twin. Cranking up the volume produces fantastic classic rock tones. And yes, it gets great surf sounds. I’m not entirely sure about the quasi-Floyd Rose setup as I’ve never had a guitar with one, but I suppose I can learn how to deal with it. I guess I’ll HAVE to because I can’t find an S Series with a standard whammy bar and bone nut. I am anxious to get my hands on Nita’s latest model - the JIVA X - which is an Ibanez Prestige offering that was introduced at NAMM 2020. I think I just might have to get one of those. Bottom line...you can’t judge this book by its cover! It is not just a one-trick-pony shredding machine. You can make it sing whatever style music you want - except maybe the country Tele kind of stuff. This is a VERY versatile guitar which is pulling me away from some of my very expensive collection. Dammit!! 😆
When I saw her playing with Alice I knew she had to be special. I love that she holds her own in a dying rock world. I would love to see a colab with her and lzzy Hale. #rockqueens
I just had this vision of a Surf themed super strat. CBS era headstock, block inlays, binding, 22+ frets, V shape with amber tint. Bolt it up to a double bound Surf green RG style body with a thin shot of nitro, tons of horizontal checking, an aged nickel floyd rose, coil split super low output PAF in the neck/bridge with a claw style Jag pickup in the middle. Hold my beer...
I wanted a Jiva for a couple years but couldnt get one because of demand. Ended up with another brand but I will tell you that S body they did for her was an awesome guitar! The new S series is a work of art and they are only around 1200.00 USD. Thats a great price for an Ibanez with exotic woods. The pickups they do really do give you the best of both strat and gibson sounds.

OMG...sweet...I'm glad i saw this...I'm so into this guitar. I cannot wait to get it. This is my DREAM guitar but was worried about not being able to get the surf sound out of it as well as smoking metal. I'm sooo happy!!! Yeah!!!!
It sounded like every other s type ibanez out there on the market. The only thing I liked about it was the ebony fretboard and the heartbeat inlay which ha been done before by various brands. It is overpriced and without the signiture aspect it should be around 800 bucks considering ESP LTD are much better guitars. At 1500 bucks... ffs! My Jackson Korean soloist is a far superior axe and it cost me £475 complete with a heeless through neck and utterly flawless binding and paint. These ibbys are junk guitars built from green timbers with tired looks. There are an abundance of awesome guitars out there these days from brands that are not huge but if people have to have it because they need it to say ibanez on the headstock then they deserve to be wrung dry for their hard earned cash.

Love the video something different for a change , I own 3 Ibanez guitars ,the first one I ever picked up I just knew that the guitar was for me , it was an RG can't remember the model number. It was £375 new it felt and played like a £1500 guitar.

At minute 2:10 she says the 2nd position is just the split bridge humbucker, but on the Ibanez website the specs state that the 2nd position is a blend of the split bridge and the single coil. So which is it?

the cleans on that spilt-coil p/u are pretty amazing, it's usually the missing voice on Ibanez guitars...I think I'd go with the S1070 though or RG1070...in Cerulean Blue Burst, w/SS frets.
The split coil sound is poor when you compare it to the PRS design split HB or a real single coil PU. The reason for this is because a HB PU has about half the winding of a real SC PU when you split it making them sound thin and nasal. They always sound poor if you A/B test them.
Im seriously thinking about saving for this rock beast. Soo many options at that price point. Pretty much any guitar, you could have for that money. But...i have a les paul. And a mexi strat. Maybe the strat needs to go so i can get this jiva beast. you can get strat type tones from the middle single coil pickup. But you cant get those badass hard rock/lite metal tones that you get from the jiva, from a strat. Even if you went crazy with mods, you would never REALLY get there! Still....$2200 Australian dollarsfor it... You can get a les paul studio or even standard for that. And all the non signature Ibo's you can get for that and less (much less). For instance, ive had my eye on the six6fdfm deep space burst for some months. It appears essentially the same only its $1500 aud. There's my dream Charvel been sitting on the rack of my local G store for at least 6 months....its $1500 and change. Floyd, humb's , possibly the sweetest neck ive ever had the privilege to fondle! ....silken neck finish, perfect fender c shape. And its an ice blue....similar to my lake placid Strat, but much better. Theyve taken the aqua out, and it looks icy blue, frosty...but still somehow brilliant blue. When money's less of an object, itll be 1× jiva; 1x pro mod so cal (frost blue); 1x jazzmaster (either burst or daphne blue - tortoiseshell pickguard, with a spare white...]; 1x telecaster (sonic red/ white pickguard - 50's rock'n'roll chic! Or just burst with front binding, bellycut at the rear side and gold metal deets) with a neck minihumbucker mod; prs se custom 22 with f-hole with 3× minihumbuckers or p90's). ....lets see, 2× musicman's (musicmen??) , one albert lee, the other Valentine ; and finally a dan electro . I really like phil mcknights red n white one . I think its a "59T" - please correct me if im wrong. But with the coke bottle headstock, its just plain uber, baby! After all that! Ill still be needing a firebird, a Hagstrom, a fender meteora (ss first, then hh), the awesome troublemaker.....an Epiphone or gibson dot (tobacco burst....or red...or tv yellow....) Oh! A les paul jr. Andmight asweol grab an ibo rg premium while im at it. One of those 11 piece neck jobs (jatoba, wenge, purplehart etc), ill have cereleaum burst. Oh yeah! This is what its like between my ears when i see a gitbox i like Rock on Ms. Strauss! You look good doin it! ....and that NEVER hurts!🤩

There's my dream Charvel been sitting on the rack of my local G store for at least 6 months....its $1500 and change. Floyd, humb's , possibly the sweetest neck ive ever had the privilege to fondle! ....silken neck finish, perfect fender c shape. And its an ice blue....similar to my lake placid Strat, but much better. Theyve taken the aqua out, and it looks icy blue, frosty...but still somehow brilliant blue.
When money's less of an object, itll be 1× jiva; 1x pro mod so cal (frost blue); 1x jazzmaster (either burst or daphne blue - tortoiseshell pickguard, with a spare white...]; 1x telecaster (sonic red/ white pickguard - 50's rock'n'roll chic!
