i rlly wish you brought up the fortnite twitter community, they're either complaining about new items or complaining about sweats complaining about new items
I think the real problem with that was that up until literally 3 months ago or less, Ranked in the game had all the silly gimmicks that kept the non-ranked mode fun. So the people who wanted to try hard ended up having to out-exploit each other instead of being more skillful than the rest.
Honestly this new culture of people who play the game way too seriously flocking into casual matches is what caused me to stop playing FPS games a long time ago. *Back in my day* [i know i sound old but this was only like 8-10 years ago] People held a massive respect for Casual and Competative servers. Casual servers had *No meta builds*, there were no *tryhards*, it was just full tomfoolery and shenanigans. If you were too good, you'd get yelled at.
Only time I get pissed off in situations similar to this are when you die in a fight an then see one of your teammates has been afk all game in spawn, clearly not disconnected or anything cause he keeps moving every 15 seconds to not get kicked. In that case its like...why did you even queue then....
The goofy stuff we used to do in all the HL1 mods was awesome. People goofed off, did weird tricky things and it was so memorable. Especially since we had dedicated servers that operated like pubs where you could be a regular and with the same group for years. Meta obsession and turning the opponents into strangers you never see again really hurt online play.
@@Peaches-i2i Yeah, it's a big reason why i strayed away from games like COD and now most mainstream PVP games, It used to be about stupid build and MLG clips, now its sweaty teenagers who play those games like its their lives, and it just ruins the fun for all of us.
The only problem for me with Sweats is that most of the times Sweats go into casual modes cause nobody is playing equal to their sweatyness. Its practically a blood bath for the Sweat and the Casuals cant do jack. Then the Sweats proceed to be toxic as hell and be the biggest sore winner imaginable and wonder why a lot of people hate them. They say "Just get good" yeah its kinda hard to do than when im being spawn killed and bullied. Also why would i want to get good if im going to turn into you?
Allow me to put forth my theory, Humans just suck, when given the chance theyll siphon fun from anything, hench when theres hardly any problems with singleplayer games but all this smoke with multiplayer games.
This obsession with winning and "optimizing" is one of the reason why so many people turned to cheats to the point it turned into a multi million dollar industry. Ego issue on pandemic level scale.
I only hyper sweat in ridiculous situations, not to win but because it's funny. I.E my Demat spec'd Dual blades medium who rocks nothin but jumpad, gas mines an flashbangs on power shift 24/7. Sometimes the winner isn't who wins the objective, it's who racks up more war crimes in the process
TF2 (team fortress 2) is one of the only games where something goofy happens in every single match. To me its a game that forever has that balance of casual/tryhard. You could have situations were you and another enemy are tryharding against each other just for you both to absolutely whiff your shots to just then pause, stare at each other for a second and kill bind. With my almost 2600 hours on the game I haven't gotten upset a single time with the game because some knob is trying his hardest to win or some other knob is playing passive and chilling and having a good time.
I just had a game where I left spawn, saw an enemy trolldier whiff a market garden twice on our heavy, I started shooting at the trolldier, whiffing 2 rockets from direct hit, then the heavy started a conga, the trolldier joined him and I joined the trolldier and we conga'd next to the payload for a solid 30 seconds. This is peak gaming.
The population of gamers has changed so much now. Before it was older guys and younger teens who had to pay full price for games. Now everyone is dosing on caffeine and drugs just to get internet props. Esports and social media is a big driver for sweats. Maybe the terrible state of society as well that has everyone escaping to games.
I was playing overwatch quick play trying a character i legit have 2 seconds in and they were telling me i was throwing and i was horrible and to uninstall because i wanted to play a different character in quick play
The problem with skill based for me (in Fortnite specifically) is that I play like garbage but also play during basically all my free time, so suddenly I’m level 100 with all the sweats even in unranked even though I got there by losing >200 games in a row
2:46 The term sweat is almost always used in fps games though. The solution to sweats is simply to implement skill based matchmaking. edit: nevermind you were right.... shouldve waited.
Omg, something jus clicked for me and I know obviously this is just a coinkadink but check it. In these games, the more you SWEAT the better DRIP you get.
I think the problem with sbmm + sweats is the fact that sbmm is designed to improve your skills quickly, and when you sweat it ramps up the difficulty and causes a looping effect where you're struggling to achieve good stats while pushing yourself. It makes it a lot harder to wind down and play off-meta and more casually when you've pushed yourself to a high skill bracket. Also as someone who's never played a cod game, the beta was an absolute blast, I was just running around like a monkey shooting and doing stupid stuff, but still having challenging enough matches that I wouldn't get bored. Maybe it's the fact that I'm in Australia and its so hard to get a game that isn't near dead and full of sweats, so it's nice to get enough people that there are casual matches (especially looking at apex, can barely fill a single lobby)
And on top of that there are some games like *cough overwatch that ask you to play 10 matches of competitive to complete your weekly challenges to earn that sweet XP which I don't really care about ranked but when I load up the ranked mode sometimes people are like omg throwing like bruh I'm here for my challenges and getting the heck out of here (some other games kinda do this too so I tend to avoid that too) also I dislike having cool looking cosmetics locked behind a ranked system there for making people having to play it when they don't really want to.
FFXIV had cool cosmetics/mounts that were locked behind a ranked mode called "The Feast." It wasn't until Endwalker that they removed The Feast entirely for a new game mode called Crystalline Conflict (which is a mixed bag but I somewhat enjoy it). Rankings still exist but the rewards are alright. The reason why the Feast was removed though was because of a heavy win trading problem and rampant cheating. There was actually a video back in maybe 2022 that detailed the top players of a data center that were exposed for cheating and win trading
Yes. I agree. Personally im usually trying my best to win, not exactly sweating though. I find myself at the middle, leaning to either one depending on the mood im in. But im always down to switch to casual or competitive. Plus, my mental kinda tanks anything like a loss, and i put the blame on myself most if not all of the time. I agreee with all of your takes, pretty based, common Toko W, good video.
Banger video. Straight spitting facts. I want fun games, not to think my actual life is on the line every match. Cod used to be fun, I mean overwatch 2016 before everybody and their mom wanted to hit GM was fun that's why it won GOTY. Just silly fun back then. Isn't that what a game is supposed to be? FUN?
Now is that why I play only single player games PVE, I played only multiplayer with my friends only not those sweating tryhard player to ruining experience of multiplayer games in fps and pvp games. I bet sweating tryhard player are laughing are in the corner.
Saying its sbmm is kind of just wrong for most of these big titles (anything ea or activision) since they've stopped using it for years choosing to use eomm (engagement optimised match making) because its based on what will get people playing longer so they buy more skins.
God damn man what a great fucking video Immediate favourite playlist watched it 3 times already. First time watching you and i spent the past day watching your stuff, your opinions are spot on keep it up
it became an issue when the game ain't even competitive or not meant to be super competitive. DARK SOULS 3 For example game has small amount of broken weapons and most sweats use it to get their fix on dopamine even tho the wins didn't mean much. but these type of people are usually being an ass to people too and adding people's steam profile just to be a virtual bully. then there's the casuals and good players them both are the one that keeps the Souls PvP alive or at least try to keep it alive and waiting for the sweats to leave to sweats somewhere else.
This breaking of equilibrium becomes particularly egregious when the two different game modes play wildly different from one another. (Oh hello Overwatch, you trash fire.)
