- I show you a couple of ways to add a lifeline in lace knitting. These can be lifesavers when knitting lace, as they allow you to rip down to a "safe" spot in your knitting without fear of dropping stitches!
Do you use lifelines in lace? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks, Heather! This was extremely helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Sharing : My go to for life lines , for fine yarns , lace and socks has always been a spool of chinese knotting cord (nylon) , very smooth, very strong , never breaks , can use it over and over again, doesn't get fuzzy , never snags or grips the yarn.......and......comes in some neon colors that you can't miss the path , if you need to rip back and place stitches back on .
Options are 1mm, .8 mm , but my preference when using fine #1 and #2 yarns is .5 mm because I use the hole on my interchangeables.
Ooh, good to know! I'll have to look for some, thank you for sharing!
That's a terrific idea using the adjustment hole on those interchangeables!!! I don't knit much without them.
Your second method is how I've always done it, but the first is just genius!!
Thank you Heather.... what a beautiful pattern, and your tutorials are always so clear and helpful. xo
Yeah, I think that's a pretty nifty trick! Thank you for the kind words, you are so welcome!
This is a life saver 😮 love it and be sure I will use it a lot. Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
I tend to favor the tapestry needle approach because I use a lot of stitch markers (one per repeat) to help with locating errors as I knit each row.
I have trauma to share! Last night I had to rip back 16 rows in lace due to a resizing calculation error. 😢
Oh no!! I'm sorry you had to rip so much back, I feel your pain!!
