This is my new favorite tutorial. The second half where Bowen talks about control and decision making is fantastic. Insight on champion player's technique is the thing I value most in Bowen tutorials.
I was in 5th grade when this game was made. I was on this game turning the score over easy. Great classic pinball machine. I would love to own my own one day.
This was really great and takes me back. Used to play this in an arcade near my HS in grade 9 in like 1979-1980. It closed. Fast forward a buncha years----> I spent many, many, many hours baked outta my gourd with Meteor in the corner of the bar at a backpacker's resort I worked at in Oz back in '91. As someone who's spent far too much time on this machine, both playing (2.5 mill + personal high score) and watching (with far too much emotional investment in the game's progress) guys (my manager and ass't mgr) better than me regularly trounce my own high score... they were both up in the 4 million range... you gotta run those 1-2-3 lights up to the top as well as work the meteor spinner, as well as your multipliers. Get those specials going asap. Get those Meteor sounds up to ear-splitting frequencies. lol. Man, I miss playing Meteor...
my uncle has this machine in his house and I really liked it. I like that droning sound it makes that intensifies as you progress. It almost makes you feel like you're about to blow something up.
great example of setting up a game for a whole afternoon of play with one coin (as it was back then, 20c in AUS) if you could nail the spinner shot repeatedly and have good flipper control. Then once you had a few credits racked up, maybe go freestyle and chase the WOW :)
No, not intentional. We sometimes film multiple games at once and set them up quickly. If Bowen doesn't mind playing it that way or doesn't mention it, it doesn't get fixed.
Whenever you win a game on a pinball machine, you hear that loud clack. I'm guessing that's so the owner of the arcade can hear it. Especially if it's really busy inside. If they hear it too much, then they know they need to up the anti on the score level.
The knocker usually fires when any of the following events happen: You get current score past replay threshold, you get special(usually lit in outlanes after finishing a task, depends on the game, the ball has to activate the switch, where the special is lit), you beat high score to date(you'll hear it 3 times), you get a match at the end of the game. Newer Williams games may also fire it when you get extra ball, if it's set as replay, or special award. On The Addams Family, you'll also hear it during Seance, if you hit either ramp during the mode.
Great play on this one. Really cool machine. And so nice to hear someone talk about that underrated cinematic classic, Deep Fargogeddon.
“Real meteor sound effects!” Great tutorial.

Thank you PAPA and Bowen for bringing these awesome tutorials. Very insightful and fun to watch.

The Armageddon jokes had me in tears. Bowen's sense of humor has a wonderfully dry quality.
Yes, serious about the movie being great?
@@stashyboy1 Isn't this table following on from the Meteor movie with Sean Connery? Or is this an in joke i don't get?

You may say you talk too much but I found it really useful as a beginner to know flipper decisions! Thanks.
BK and Meteor ROCKS!
Leanin left so hard!
Definitely looked that way to me too, but maybe it was spin?
Big time leaning to the left!!!!
Double tap on the Kirk post! Damn, that’s not easy to do! And only Bowen can pull off 2.16M on Meteor! That’s flipping amazing!
2.1 mil on Meteor? Bowen is a pinball god!
I'm a god too, I made 2.3 million ;)

Was the game off level? It seems like the ball was curving to the left a lot
Yes, exactly. That's why the right flipper was "level".
Bowen..Your such a great player!! This game is hard...
Dan Keller this thing rates with firepower as one of the hardest games of early ss era.
Is the left lean intentional? I.e. would PAPA ever set a game up like this for competition?
No, not intentional. We sometimes film multiple games at once and set them up quickly. If Bowen doesn't mind playing it that way or doesn't mention it, it doesn't get fixed.
What is the max you rolled over the game in one turn?

lol nice Captain Eo reference, Bowen
My favorite game
Burning up that left flipper coil ! Geez !
My dad owns this pinball but the right flipper don't work rip
That table looks tilty wilty!
In the movie the meteor was caused by global cooling.
The Pinball game did much better than the movie. The movie only made 1 million Dollars out of a budget of about 13 or 14 Million.
"great movie" 😂
Global warming?!? The movie is from 1979.
Global Warming nor climate change are blamed for the movie.
You talk too much. There, I said it.

Don, why don't you go and play by yourself?
