  • The model 1894 Winchester is the most popular lever action rifle of all time. Made from 1894 through 2007, millions of these guns were produced. Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, examines the features and options that make this rifle so special. The gun used in this video features a 26 inch barrel with a 9 shot tubular magazine. The stock is straight grip with a crescent buttplate. It is chambered in the 30-30 WCF cartridge.

The Winchester Model 1894 is just a classic timeless design. Easy to carry, points naturally, and sufficient firepower in it's various calibers. I have one..the 'Classic' model with octagon barrel, roll-engraved receiver, nice wood, and solid forearm nosecap as opposed to a barrel band. .30-30 Winchester caliber. Picked it up a few years ago spotted it on the used gun rack at local Cabela's store just had to have a Winchester Model 94 after wanting one for many years..heck I even had a Daisy BB gun which was a dead ringer for a Winchester Model 1894 from ten feet away..the Daisy 'Spittin' Image' 1894 since then I had my heart set on getting the real thing finally have it proud to own one.

I got a winchester ranger 94 AE .30-30 as a gift a few years back and I love it. It is what I use for hunting here in florida. Great weapon.

I've heard that Winchester discontinued the model 94 a few years back, because the tooling was completely worn out. Mossberg is now producing an almost exact replica, but with a few improvements, the model 464.

I have a 2004 Catalog. You could get it in .357, and 44 Rem. Mag. It was the Trails End model.

I reload my own after ordering two 20 round boxes from a online vendor selling bunk rounds that scratch the inside of the barrel and like to stick after firing. However i found some good ammo as far as i can tell @ M ventura munitions.

at 0:59, it appears the serial number is 31307. That would make the year of manufacture 1897 for this Model 1894.

Has it been in humid or dusty conditions for a long time without cleaning and oiling? just don't try to force it open.Use rust removing gun oil. There should be a small hole above the loading port to the left that would be for the oil add a good amount but not to much. Also oil along all the metal seams wipe off excess oil give it a day or so then jiggle the lever gently. If that don't work there could be something stuck between the magazine tube and the trap door....A bullet?

I bought my Winchester 1894 from a friend about 40 years ago. It had been used hard and kept rough and although I cleaned it and have kept it in proper storage it needs some love. The furniture is cracked and loose and there is some discoloration in places on the barrel. Should this carbine be restored completely or just tightened up? I'm worried that restoration would hurt it's authenticity and value.
