Use a simple bridle, put a bit of molasses on the bit, and you have a horse who will just open wide for the bit! It's not complicated to get a horse to work with you. A straight bit, a little understanding, and you have a horse who knows what you want right away. It ain' t rocket science to work with a horse! I trained horses for 30 years, from weanlings to 4 year olds. I did simple basic training. Trust and a lot of groundwork. A horse at 4 is like a kid a ten, you have to be constantly on them to trust you. But it takes those previous 4 years of trust to make the good horse. Now I want to say something that every horse person might say about the racing "industry"....Why do race horses only get to race until 3, then they're dog meat" A horse has a natural life of 20-30 years. At 3, they're not even at breeding age yet, but they're wiped out as useless once they're off the track. Somebody somewhere has to do something to save these young horses. They are obviously of good bloodlines, they wouldn't be on the track if they weren't. Off-track thoroughbreds and standardbreds make some of the best "home" horses. They're still babies, and they can be so conditioned to quieter circumstances., especially the standardbreds. i've had a lot of experience with both breeds, and I'd rather have an off track standardbred.
Would you want an object pulling on your mouth no! Bits are unnecessary and wrong. Do you know that that horse has feelings and wants comfort too. You may say you do. But you definitely don't feel that in your soul to feel for others. Bits are not ok.
Labrador Paradise My obsession with labs you need to stick with dogs if that’s the case. Also you should not ride horses at all if you feel that way about it. You also have not be3n on a horse that was badly trained or a completely untrained because you would have a wreck on your hands. Bits are only abusive if they are used by ignorant people with hard hands. Are there harsh bits out there that are unnecessary? Sure. But there are plenty of good bits that are good tools in the right hands.
The only reason why you all speak for bits because it's basically a short cut for you it makes the horse want to listen in pain. Even with no pressure on the reins it still clanks the tongue. And if bits weren't made for abuse that's why they were made in the first place to train a horse in pain because they can't handle the horse without one.
You are the idiot. To take up for metal in a living beings mouth. And you don't have to own that certain kind of animal to know it's abuse. Bits would be something they would use to torture a slave. Just put a pic of a horse with a bit and a pic next to it of a slave with metal all around their bodies being tortured they both stand and look as abuse.
First Labra Kadabra you are so stupid do you really think somebody would hurt their horse on purpose second bits are designed especially NOT to hurt the horse get your facts strait
Great video. I will practice this lesson with him when i introduce him to the bit for the first time . Thank you
Thank you
