- The plaintiff claims her former friend, the defendant, stole her keys and crashed her car, so the plaintiff is suing for damages not covered by insurance. The defendant insists the plaintiff was drunk, so the defendant got into the driver’s seat. While she was driving, the defendant says another person caused the crash, not her. The defendant is countersuing for harassment.

The driver is responsible for having a license and for having an insured vehicle. That's the actual law.
Typically, this leads to the polic issuing tickets to the driver who then has to sue the owner in hopes of recovering. Sounds similar, doesn't it?

Dismissing the case just means they will go to a different court or arbiter. Judge Judy does not dismiss with prejudice, that’s her just saying “my show isn’t going to compensate these people.”

The plaintiff should’ve never agreed to settle with the insurance for anything other than 100% of her damages. The defendant even said that the car had automatic lights in it so clearly, the insurance company was lying.

We pay for insurance so the insurance company will pay for our damages. She didn't have insurance, so she sued the person who damaged her car. What are you talking about? Just because a person doesn't have insurance doesn't mean someone gets to total their car and not have to pay for it. 🤦🏽♂️

The judgement was not what I was expecting to happen because of so many dirty antics of the litigants. It was straight justice, and straight to the point based on what happened.
The defendant made a good point at the end , that the insurance settled with the plaintiff - not her . The defendant should be able to recoup from the insurance , but who knows with all the dirty antics .

I've been watching The PC, for many years, and every now and then I get a sneaking suspicion that the plaintiff and the defendant are making up a story as they go along because no matter who wins, it's a guaranteed judgement to be split. This happens with these tv court shows more than we think😉. I could be wrong, but the details of this case kept changing to the point where nothing made sense. This case seems a little sus to me.
They actually pull these cases from real court filings in order to avoid the scenario you described. These people have no idea that PC are going to pull their case for TV when they actually file these lawsuits.
@@demond1818 - You are correct! I do know they pull cases, because I worked in a court where different shows producers would come searching our files. But that wouldn't stop two people who actually know each other from initiating their case in a local small claims court and then contacting the show, just to be on the show. It's a good way to get a debt paid, and or get on television. Believe it or not, I saw a video clip of a guy talking about how he and his friend did this very thing. That's when I began to believe this was a thing.
