My grandmother had one with sewing materials and one just full of buttons. Every piece of clothing that went in the rag pile had the buttons cut off and put into the tin.
You could not have such a place in the States, as "those people" would tear it up in a week! I have watched them eat at KFC and when they were done eating they just got up and walked out. Did not bother to clean up after themselves!
Whatever the plan was they were geniuses. Think about it not only truckers but college students, teachers etc can easily come in there for a quick snacking or food to go before or after work/school
@@AvocadoBat This looks like some type of trucking/storage operation. Hardly one inviting students! You can hear the truckers dissing her in the background.
Logistically makes sense. Looks like it's Ben Mart, opened by Ben Foods, which is a subsidiary of QAF Ltd (where Ben Mart is located). Ben Foods location is slightly to the west, across Jurong River. QAF Ltd is... Just upstairs of the mart. Looks like they're a trading/distribution company, dealing with those brands you see in the video (Farmland, Cowhead, Gardenia, etc.). For those products that can't be sold to Fairprice, Sheng Siong, or anyone else due to too short remaining shelf life, they can just put them in the vending machines and there's a chance for it to get sold. In terms of rental, it's just a small space in a building they're already renting. In terms of manpower, just need to check, clean up a bit, and restock, which probably wouldn't take more than a few hours, especially since it's just downstairs. They can sell it for cheaper because of the shorter expiry, plus they're getting it at pretty much the best wholesale prices anyone can get. All in all, probably doesn't cost a whole lot in terms of capital investment to start this initiative, but there's a chance to earn back from the sales, otherwise it's gonna expire soon anyway. Seeing the brands and the companies involved, I kind of understand why they set up shop so randomly there despite such a niche target audience.
thats probably because these are originally meant for selling in grocery stores or supermarkets, the types for people to buy, put in freezer, and grab a bit to cook (but not the entire package), not originally meant for direct consumption like here. judging from the expiration date, these are probably sold here because they cant sell it anywhere else
Watching and enjoying this video from Scotland! Mala sounds interesting, we're thinking of visiting Singapore soon so may have to give it a try! Thanks for the cool vending machine videos
That last part reminded me of something that sometimes happens in my country. When you open a fridge in your house, take out a frozen tub thinking that it is ice cream, only to realize that it was a tub of beans(usually black beans but the beans can vary depending on the region). Oh the desire of something only to have it met by extreme disappointment...and yeah, my grandma has "cookie boxes" like those with sewing stuff too.
Some of those packages are more supermarket size than vending machine size. Dont exactly know what youd do with the frozen leftovers, but very cool video. Looks pretty off the beaten path which is neat.
That's such a great idea, what you said about the innovative quality of The food service is true, one of my favorite things is when food doesn't go to waste :)
it's a joke- those cookie tins are usually pretty cheap and have been around for a very, very long time, so elderly people (moreso old ladies) often re-used the tins to keep their sewing supplies in because it was cheap but sturdy storage. The joke is usually grandchildren would go looking for snacks at their grandparents' place, and more often than not find this tin of what they thought would be delicious little cookies- only to find it full of sewing equipment. It also happened to me as a kid haha.
For the value of the products and even though it is open 24 hours a day, this store is very good. Not to mention that the ending made me laugh out loud. 😂
Ahh that’d be so convenient if you worked weird hours and by the time you got home it’d be too late to cook. But that air fryer wouldn’t last half an hour here. It’d be up cash converters. That Farmland logo looks a lot like the farmfoods logo ( which is a frozen food shop here in the UK), I wonder if it’s the Singapore branch of the company or just coincidence. Loudly cackled at the sewing kit
This place is a haven for single working people. They could always get food supplies during work, cook some while lunch break and take the rest back home for dinner. Save grocery running time 😂😂
Very good video! Singapore looks so clean and safe place to live! I'm from finland and those machines (airfryer, kettle, etc.. would be stolen immediately, and all places messed up 😂)
Ohhh Yeah!!! That's the way!!!! All around the world ppl use the Danish Butter Cookies box as homemade sewing supplies kit!!!!! Aaaaaaaaawsomeeeeeee!!!!!🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🍥🍥🍥
I guess part of the success of this channel is the fact DB uses very simple english. It´s not glorious, it´s not elaborate, it´s not Shakespeare. But everyone around the world can understand it.
Quite an interesting thing. I imagine it'd be quite nice to eat when all the shops are closed at night. The portions seem too big though, they're straight from the market, I guess you'd have to bring the frozen food home. It would be cool if they added a fridge where people can put leftovers for other people to get for free, but that would be a loss for the owner.
All these vending machines the US need to take notes! We need these kind of food options rather than the fake food in most common vending machines nowadays.
Loved the ending. And if there is one thing that the Dancing Bacons provide, it's A LOT of variety in what they purchase for their viewers! We thank you!
Sometimes I dream about having a nation with as many vending machines as they do in Japan. But sometimes I think that would be crazy as well because these things are stocked up with so many sugary drinks...
Hi Dancing Bacon, there's a vending machine cafe at PSA Alongside level 3, the name of the cafe is called "Fishbowl". You can bring the food and take the lift to 4th floor, walk to the viewing gallery and enjoy the PSA Port view while you have your meal 😉
You really hit us with the sewing supplies at the end.
Meant for truck drivers.
Should have thrown the curry away rather than in the drain. The noodles will clog the drain!
that was hilarious
I'm super amused that the sewing kit is a universal thing, not just an American thing.
😂😂😂😂😂
I love that the butter cookie tin/sewing supplies resonates with people from all over the world!
Really speaks to how good of a box it is to put stuff in, I have one where I put my smaller art supplies lmao
Lmao my family use that tin to store some sewing supplies and ice cream bucket to store frozen seafoods😂
not the butter cookies having a sewing kit and buttons, thats always gonna be a trauma for me from kid to grown up
My grandmother had one with sewing materials and one just full of buttons. Every piece of clothing that went in the rag pile had the buttons cut off and put into the tin.
@@Emeraldwitch30Mine had thimbles 3/4, one quarter for everything else.
Kkk all the world do this? Because iam from Brazil and here is the same kk
rip, i never liked butter cookies so i'm one of the few that never experienced that lool
hahaha bro got menaced by sewing supplies
I love "directions to the place are straightforward" and you're showing literal footprints painted on the path :)
I wonder if their spacing is leftover from Covid protocol.

@@guyfawkesuThe1 and who are "those people" though? Also you do realize that most US based places have workers that clean up when people do not.. lol
@@C0zm0deus Been to New York City? This place would have been trashed.
@@C0zm0deus that just makes them more lazy.
What a strange place for a vending cafe. It looks like it’s meant to be a break room of sorts for those working in the industrial park.
Meant for truckers from the looks of it. You get chicken with waffles and syrup btw.
I'm guessing workers in the area are the target customers.

lmao I wasn't expecting the sewing kit jumpscare but I too am guilty of doing this. The butter cookie tins are just too perfect for it.
😂 @ the ending . Everyone's grandma has one of those.
This place is meant for truck drivers and other logistics people.
The concept is good but they really need to add more air fryers or even a microwave.
Absolutely, one air fryer may be taken by one person for 10-20 min and the rest will just sit and wait if they want something fried too
Same.

I know I did. lol
That bit with the butter cookies at the end really had me laughing. XD May have to try a waffle cheeseburger one of these days, too.
Ahhh sewing supplies flavored, just like the ones grandma made.
I loved the end. Sewing supplies in a cookie tin clearly spans all cultures.😂
Am I the only one who is shocked by how big the chicken and curly fry packs are?

I really liked the sewing kit 😂😂😂

Love the vending machine ones.
Love how honest they are in Singapore . In Britain , junkies would be sleeping in it , machines broken into and airfryer stolen !
It would be the same in USA too. The second they left it unattended it would be robbed blind.
I've never thought the west would eventually stole everything what's unattended huh
Definitely the same in America. All the plastic spoons and forks (and anything else not nailed down) would be gone for sure.
Your waffle burger creation was impressive! There's always something unique about having a sweet and savory meal.
The ending was perfect! XD
Love this! It’s great to end a weekend with a new dancingbacons video!
That's such a great idea, what you said about the innovative quality of The food service is true, one of my favorite things is when food doesn't go to waste :)
the amount of plastic for such a small serving is stupid, we can make more food but we can't make more petrol
@@tovape Yeah food could definitely be packaged in something more bio degradable, especially these dry foods
I like this. I feel as though if this unsupervised setup was in my country it would get trashed and someone would break/take the air fryer.
