Only got to see like the last 30 40 minutes of it and damn it's a good movie I was trying to find the name of it cuz I was watching on a hotel TV and it won't give you the damn info
I think this movie got beyond recognized by critics lol it's just complete and utter shit so most of the general population wasn't interested in singing false praises
Just saw this movie for the second time (the first being 10 years ago when it was released) and I agree the soundtrack is beautiful. Even more impressive when you see it was co-written by the director. I wonder why he hasn’t done anything since
This was filmed in Pointe Aux Chenes, Louisiana. A very interesting diverse place home to a wildlife management area, Indian tribe reservation (PACIT), residential and fishing camps community, and some dam awsome blue crabs and salt water fishing. Pointe Aux Chenes translated "Oak Point" used to have thriving oak trees extending into the salt water marshes. Due to bayous (canals for those that don't speak cajun) being cut through the marsh for oil pipelines over the past several decades salt water intrusion has killed most of the oak trees. This has created some of the eeire scenery in this movie. Just a little info for those who are interested.
Seriously thanks man! One of my favorite things about this movie is the setting and for some reason it gives me a huge amount of respect for Louisiana just because of this location
I can't even watch the TRAILER without ending up a weeping puddle. If I play the DVD, I have to set aside crying time afterwards. This movie is just stunning. Heart-exploding.
+jeanette Hollins Well it was nominated for two oscars for best movie and for best actress in a leading role (Quvenzhane Wallis) so it is really popular
I just thought of this movie again when I was recalling the days I lived in NY and would go on solo dates to interesting cinemas. I was lucky to see this film's premiere in the city, and it has stuck with me since as one of the most beautiful, poetic pieces I've seen.
The setting and backdrop of this movie is one of the main characters. My family is from this area and as I've gotten older I've taken it for granted living in New York. I've grown weary of the big city and yearn for a simpler time I'm planning to return very soon
100....THE UNIVERSE WORKING TOGETHER.....I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND "ALL" THE ACTORS...ESPECIALLY HUSH PUPPY...THANK YOU FOR THIS OUTSTANDING MOVIE.......KEEP EM COMING
I feel this movie and "A Monster Calls" share a lot in common. Just how we use art and stories and fantasy as way to make ourselves, better, braver. How through our storytelling, we escape the circumstances keeping us down and evaluate ourselves to become heroes. "Once there was Hushpuppy" and she was legendary.
cannot believe i've never seen this. wow. reminds me of a studio ghibli film. rare film that makes you think about your existence and what it means to be alive.
Oh. It's an amazing movie. A tough little girl, who lives on her own, trying to keep her sick daddy alive in the face of a kinds of disasters. It was among my favorite movies
Here after news feed ,she was shot and killed in a car yesterday in Louisiana at the age of 22. Never heard of this movie, but it looks very interesting. 🙏🏿 Rip young Queen💞
A very unique film in a unique setting with unique acting and unique direction. I cant fault the film but still didnt get to the end😂,kind of like the florida project of the swamps. It is certainly different. I will watch it again but without the valium this time.
Just watched Peanut Butter Falcon and was reminded of this movie. I saw this movie in a film class. Didn't like it very much, but now I'm curious to revisit it and see what I think now. This movie actually gave me motion sickness because there is so much shaky camera movement in it. I think I might actually like it...
I think people are thinking it us the star of the show who was shot. It was not. It was the 12 year old. Her name eludes me but begins with J I believe
The little girl looks like the girl from Annie, She looks like Quvenzhane Wallis. I hope I'm not the only one watching this on 2018. I was probably 6 and not allowed to watch movies like this on 2012
This is one great movie I'll will watch it again and again and it really touched my heart at the end she knew that he was getting sick by the day and she stood there by his side all the way till the end and it really got to me the ending and now in day's this is really happening now God bless all the Actors who played there part in this movie 😇😇💘💘💘🙏🙏🙏🥰
11 Years, omg :( Saw that movie like 10 times in theater, saw live music performance in London.... Visited Isle de Jean-Charles in Louisiana............. First step for world erosion acceptation.
Damn I can’t believe she got killed in gun violence. She was an awesome actress, im sad she ‘s gone but maybe God has his reasons for taking her back home early. Rest In Peace Queen and thank you for being a part of my childhood.
Why do y'all act like this? Your god "has his reasons" for a young woman being shot and killed? Your god should not need to use murderers to carry out his "plan" to have a 22 year old woman be violently killed.
I saw this in the theater, after having fantastic reviews, and last week I took it out of the library. Hushpuppy is such a wonderful little girl (only 5 years old when the movie was made). I recommend the movie.
They symbolize unwanted obstacles standing in the way when you're trying to live a life full of free will... so the message is not to live in Fear but to face those obstacles and overcome them
I disagree with the other commenters, I think they symbolize the inner animalistic strength the villagers and especially hush puppy's dad celebrate. They're beasts, the strongest will survive, they're not afraid etc etc. hope you didn't fail, good movie to have a project on IMO.
This is one of the strangest but most memorable and powerful movies I've ever seen. The acting was incredible.
Just watched it Debbie and I could not agree more, it's so profound, moved me to tears. The little girl is astonishingly accomplished.
My exact feelings. This is one of my favorite movies.
Fr i can never forget this movie

Not only does this movie deserve more recognition, but also the soundtrack.the soundtrack to this film is a master piece
A movie can't truly be great without a great soundtrack. Not everyone appreciates that, I'm glad you do!

To this day, the best score.
she got nominated for an academy award for this role
She deserved it
AND WAS ROBBED!
Exactly...she should have won that award. It's strange this movie lost to a romantic comedy 😕

Climate change is what puts these coastal ecosystems most at risk, the other stuff is small.

Or did u americans keep some?
One of my favorite movies. I cried like a baby watching this.

so, so, so underrated.
Highly praised and still underrated.
This movie is Amazing!!!!! The little girl who played hush puppy commanded the scenes she was in. It's too bad this movie didn't get more press.

Actually it was four Oscar nominations. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress.

Touching and powerful film of a young girl having to grow-up quickly, courageously, and against all the odds....Excellent...
my childhood right here...I cannot count how many times I watched this and cried every single time I saw it

This movie was strange, but extremely powerful and poetic. The metaphors in this movie are amazing and this film is an underated materpeiece.

Utterly stunning film. Quvenzhané Wallis is absolutely magnificent.
CHILLS all over my body from just this trailer alone.
She is so under rated but that doesn' stop her greatness from coming to light.... Wonderful Actress .. 2020 still here
This will leave you in a tingling, magical and badass mood. Hushpuppy is THE man !
Perfect description!💚
