One of my favourite Macmillan compositions (some I find less interesting/accessible). My entry piece for those new to Macmillan would be “After the tryst” - a beautiful miniature for violin and piano based on the poem “The Tryst” by William Souter. Avoid TH-cam performances except Phillip Granell. Start with the first recording by Ruth Crouch on the Evelyn Glennie Percussion Concerto album. The more recent recording on “Different Worlds” is also very good.
