I used dvd cases for my first cockpit, slid the a4 printed dashboard in where the original printed cover was and used a soldering iron (nail over mums cooker) to melt holes in the dvd box, happy days
You can also print the lower paper layer on a sheet of transparency (for overhead projectors). Anything drawn as white will print clear, letting the backlight through.

Cutting board works wonders
So does a sweeping brush, a dust pan and a general urge to be bothered to do at least something properly rather than half assed.
