    Like every country, we have our bad bits and good bits, but how wonderfully you have presented our country! 100 times better when the sun shines! Go Raibh Mile Maith Agat!

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah totally agree, although we didn’t see any of these bad bits you mention 😉. That’s makes us very happy to hear when a local likes how we have presented a country -at times it feels like a responsibility to get it right. We know there’s areas that we didn’t have time to see but we really feel like we saw lots in the time we had. The weather has been amazing and we can’t wait to hear what you think about the next few episodes that are on the way 😎👍🏻
      Thanks again for your comment 🇮🇪☘️🙏🏻

    So..... We have officially started a journal of what we have titled Sean and Emily's amazing places, for our own reference should we ever be fortunate enough to get to Ireland from Canada for a motorbike tour. Some of the places have literally blown our minds, and your cinematography including drone footage has made us just rewind and watch episodes over a second time. Sorry to not have mentioned this until now, but you just keep serving up better and better. Thanks for taking us along. You put so much effort into these for our enjoyment. Cheers

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi John, that sounds like a coffee table book we should get published 😀 -great idea. Yeah we were also taken back by the spectacular scenery of Ireland and the footage of the drone came out better than we had hoped. We really appreciate your kind words of support and it's super encouraging!
      We have just started uploading the Scotland part of the Tour and in tonight's episode there's something that will certainly make Canadians smile 😉
      Thanks again for your comment and we look forwards to hearing your thoughts on Scotland.

    Hi Folks,Just watched your piece on Westport and had a bit of a giggle when you mentioned Westport as a hidden gem.Em it's the busiest tourist town in Ireland, 12 months of the year its buzzing, ye were so lucky to just stroll in and get a room,its a fantastic town,enjoying yer tour of Ireland ,Donegal is another gem of a county,looking forward to seening what ye think of it.

    Great video, shame you didn't ride round the other side, that takes you through the Doolough valley side up to Louisburgh and back into Westport past Croagh Patrick, not that much longer than the more direct road you took.

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah the initial plan was to stay that night in Leenaun and ride that direction in the morning but as hotels there were more expensive than we are were to pay we blasted on to Westport, it does look a great route but there comes a time in the day when you just need to get to the destination, i think we got to Westport from there in about 20 min. Something for next time though 😊👍 thanks for the suggestion.

    I just watched your Acill Island then Killary Fjord videos and now this one, the best places in Ireland you reached. Emily, that's no way to drink a Guinness, sipping the head will make it taste bitter, you need a good mouth full to taste that porter. Looking forward to the rest of the trip, Mayo next, then on to Sligo and Donegal, I'm so envious but I'll be back :)

    Mayo is the most underrated beautiful county in Ireland. You missed Ashford Castle and Tourmakeady Waterfall, they are awesome.
    Galway city is known as a buzzing party city and Westport is also known as similar to Galway city, always buzzing.

    Sean, you may need to buy cider, beer or wine for Emily - she’s definitely not a Guinness fan. Westport is on the tourist trail but I think the larger hotels are outside the town centre which might explain why it seemed quiet. Another entertaining day on your tour - thanks.

    Hi guys. Speaking as someone who's toured all over Europe myself, on all types of bikes, it's fascinating to see you both enjoying many of the areas that I too know quite well.
    My reason for getting it touch is that you seem to be developing quite a following and justifiably so.
    And I wondered if you'd be interested in reporting on an aspect of biking that is very close to my heart; advanced riding.
    As a road safety engineer and a RoSPA Diploma qualified advanced riding tutor, I'm a huge advocate of post test training.
    I thought therefore it would be great to see you a series where you undertake some tutoring, whether that's IAM or RoSPA and hear your thoughts on the training and how you feel it changes your riding.
    I can of course point you in appropriate directions or you can find details on the relevant websites.
    What do you think?

      Riding around Ireland has been fantastic, the relaxed stress free environment has been a welcome change to some of the chaotic areas of Europe. Funnily enough Ireland is the last country in Europe we hadn’t ridden so it made it all the more special!
      Thank you for your suggestion! I appreciate your advice and fully agree that advanced training is beneficial, especially for new riders. Ironically we had an ‘advance rider instructor’ pull out on us on the south coast of England whilst instructing! not a problem as I pretty much preempt every vehicle to do something erratic as everyone makes mistakes.
      You might find it interesting that In Switzerland where we live everyone passing their test is required to do a state approval advance training within a year of passing their test.

      Hi guys.
      Yes Ireland has a speed all of it's own both in terms of the way of life and seemingly the slight reluctance to keep up with the rest of Europe lol!
      So it is a very relaxing place to visit. My wife's family hail from Ireland so we have visited a number of times.
      Not quite as pretty as Scotland but close but with more rain!!
      Interesting to hear about the rules in Switzerland for obtaining your motorcycle licence. As I mentioned, I'm a road safety engineer by trade so I tend to keep up with a lot of these things.
      That said, I was aware you had to attend a full day of further training within twelve months. I wasn't aware though it is advanced training.
      That is good.
      Most countries, the UK included, sadly are very relaxed about it all. You pass your test and there you go; you can drive/ride. There's little incentive to take further training and the general consensus is 'I've learnt to drive or ride when I passed my test'.
      When in reality of course all they have done usually is learn to pass a test! There are some very good tutors out there who take people further than that but I think they're a minority.
      And I see this in the people I tutor. You mention new riders but actually I find more issues with those that have been riding for some time.
      After all, practice makes perfect. But if you've spent twenty years say practicing the wrong things, then you're perfect at doing it wrong lol!
      Anyway, looking forward to seeing your next episode heading I presume up into the Sligo and Donegal area. Donegal is again very pretty although very different to the south west of Ireland.
      Cheers!

      Yeah that's a good point about learning just to pass tests, another interesting system in Switzerland is when learning to drive there's a long list of modules that have to be ticked off before applying for a test -like driving at night, on small country roads, motorway driving, driving in the rain etc etc There's also a mandatory theory 2 day training with model cars in a classroom and a full first aid course before you can even apply for a licence .....makes for a very expensive licence but the training is very good. Also which is funny -if you fail your driving test 4 times they send you off for a psychological assessment 🤣
      Yeah that's right up to Sligo and Donegal before heading up to Northern Ireland and catching ferry to Scotland 😎👍

      Carlingford is not actually a Fjord despite the ‘misleading’ clue in its name - as it is not as deep as the Irish Sea into which it flows.
