Thanks! I definitely try to keep things simple. In the beginning I bought lots of "equipment" I thought I needed, but really just the basics are necessary in my opinion!
I am obsessed! You are my favorite Poshmark TH-camr!!! - Question: how does your inventory number system work? I see you use A-Z and numbers, but how does that work? Do you re-use inventory numbers? I would love to know!!
Did you ever do the video on measurements? I would like to see that. I take each piece lay it down, measure (taking pics of measurements) and take pics of labels. Tried measuring with them hanging on rack but couldn't get accurate measurements. I would definitely be interested in watching you do it.
Hello. Thanks for your content. This has answered my questions like no other. I struggle to focus on the listing process and tried doing one item at a time from photo to measure to list then move on the the next. You seem really focus, & know what works best for you by experience. That really helps a lot. I see you get many Anthropologie in sourcing too. Would you consider doing one video showing brand tags selling under Anthropologie & or maybe some other ones like Nordstrom & Macy's or maybe even more popular ones that I don't know ? I'd love to learn that ☺️
Hi! I am so glad this has been helpful. I sometimes have a hard time focusing so I totally understand. But I just think if I focus I can get it over with ;) because let's be real the goal is to get to go shopping again! haha. I could definitely do more videos about brands and Anthro. I love that suggestion, thank you for bringing it up!
I used to write everything down in a notebook too. I switched a while ago to creating a note in my phone for each item. Put in the title and description so all I have to do is copy and paste when I’m listing on my phone. But I would take measurements after I took the photos. I should try to do so before so it’s not so much up and down and back breaking work. Thanks for letting us see your system and process!
Love your videos! So freaking helpful! I really appreciate your tips! Would love to learn your process/opinion on prices when sourcing items for your closet. Specifically, how you decide what you're willing to pay for a specific item.
Thanks for another great video!! Do you usually wash all the clothes too, or just steam? Sometimes thrift stores leave a smell on the clothes and I don't want my customers to think they're getting something unclean. I have been washing everything I buy, except clothes with tags still attached. What are your thoughts?
Great info since time is money also! It always freaks me out when I see other resellers "find" inventory in their car/house...thats money! This is how you run a business vs. Just become a shopoholic. I love that steamer also cuz info said that it helps get rid of dust mites 🐉. Least favorite of the process for me.
Exactly. I get anxiety if I have inventory laying around somewhere! Yes a steamer is great for so many things. Actually with kill more bacteria than just washing something! Thanks for watching!
Oh wow didn't know steamers killed dust mites and bacteria..my question I wanted to ask was about thrift store smell &/or detergent smells from previous owner..I know anytime I buy from platos closet it reeks of heavy laundry detergent and fabric softener. Do you always just bring your finds home and immediately steam them or do you ever wash them and hang to dry? Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this, truly thankful for you!
hi yes steamers kill bed bugs., germs, dust mites! i am trying to find the best steamer, because i heard jiffy was good can any one recommend one please!
Could you also show us a non sped up version of how you photograph the clothes, which shots you take? That would be super helpful as the speeding up is hard to see exactly what you take. (Also a non-sped up version of exactly hw and what you steam, which nozzle you use and how you measure?) Many Thanks!
I used to do the exact same thing with the page and the measurements but I always laid them out.. how much easier is that to have them hanging up so efficient 👍
Could you please do a video detailing your inventory process? I see that you # everything but how do you manage all of it with items selling and more coming in?
Hi! Love this video! Great ideas! I was wondering do you wash all your items when you bring them home? I find that sometimes they still have a thrift store scent.. and when you bag them and store them have you ever opened one to see how it smells? I opened one of mine and I find that sometimes the items well smell like enclosed plastic not good.. anyways just seeing if this has happened to you. I appreciate any feedback to make it a positive experience for my customers ✨👍🏼 thank you Jenna!!!
Hi! So if something smells I definitely wash it. But I steam all my items which kills more bacteria than laundering. I haven't had any issues/complaints about a plastic smell. I figure most customers will then also wash the item when they receive before wearing as well.
Hi Jenna! If you could do a video on how you measure the items on the hanger it would be very helpful and appreciated 😊 I use your method with measuring the items while hung. However, the length may be getting measured wrong. Do you measure from the shoulder hem? Or how the items are hung and just measure from where the hanger is sitting on as the "shoulder line" ? Thanks in advance.
This was really helpful, thanks for directing me to this! I’ve seen another reseller measure while the item is on the hanger, do you find this easier than a flat lay?
Thanks so much for sharing. Why do you measure the clothes I want to start reselling as well but had no idea of what to do this was extremely helpful. In definitely a new subbie😁
msfcarmichael my biggest peeve is having to ASK sellers for measurements!! As Jenna says every manufacturer is different...someone's size 16 is another's size 12! So actual measurements gives a potential buyer a much better idea if something will fit...especially helpful to note if it is a knit vs. woven fabric, etc. When I post an item I always include measurements.
THANKS FOR BEING CLEAR AND CONCISE, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MEASURE, PHOTOGRAPH AND LIST PER ITEM ??? FOR EXAMPLE 10 BLOUSES TAKE 2 - 5 HOURS OR WHATEVER
I am totally totally looking into getting a steamer like that so much easier I just have to wash everything and then hang it to dry wait for it to dry Etc.
I’m new on your channel and am really enjoying it. Please share with me your inventory number process, i saw your video about your process but you didn’t share how you letter and number your items. Thank you!
Wow! I had autoplay set on TH-cam a few days ago, and that's how I found your page! I am quite intrigued. In fact went to our local Goodwill Outlet yesterday and bought a few things! I am watching a few of your videos every day, and have a few questions. 1. Do you resell men's clothing at all? My teen boys are 5'11" and 6'5, are easy on their clothes. I drop off a box of their clothes every month, so exploring selling them interests me. 2. When I watched your video on pricing items, you did not mention the costs of shipping. If that is just an expense you absorb? you must have a "low profit limit" you don't go under, and a high shipping rate you won't go over. 3. What size range (for women, men, & children) do you sell most of? I'm actually kind of at a loss for this, as I've never been able to buy much off the rack for myself. I am 6'1", & thus shopping has never been a really enjoyable experience for me!! My usual dress is flip-flops, shorts and tees! Thank you!
Love your videos. You are super helpful! From start to finish (taking items out of bags to finished steaming), how long did that take you in real time?
Hi! Thank you! I would say for that amount of items probably 45 minutes for everything to prep. To me prepping always takes longer than actually photographing!
Hi! Thank you so much for this! I see that you linked the hangers in the description. Could you also link the hangers with the clips on them? I would love to purchase those too!!
Hi! Yes I'll look for the clips and add them. It's just a package of the clips and you use the plain hangers and add them on which is nice because you can use it either way. Thanks for watching!
Hi! I know this is an older video, but I'm really hoping you'll see this--I'm starting to sell some things & thinking steaming will be the most efficient option to clean everything. But does it get rid of that typical thrift store smell? I lost my sense of smell months ago with Covid, so I won't be able to tell😔
Sword and Scale is good but it’s soooooooo dark. I love True Crime Podcast though, currently loving Mile Marker 181 and Without Warning. generation why, missing Maura Murray, and crawl space are great too! Thanks for sharing your thrifting tips, your vids are my fav.
This may be a dumb question, but...How do you decide what to list on poshmark & what to list on ebay. I already sell a little on poshmark & want to expand to ebay, but I am just curious as to what makes you pick poshmark or ebay for a particular item. Thanks in advance
Does ironing the item work the same way as streaming? Also, I was told not to wash used clothing from thrift stores because the buyer may have an allergy and they probably wash it when they get the item.
These videos are SO helpful!! Thank you so much for sharing your process!! This may be a silly question but how do you create then bullet points in your listings, so that it’s the measurement in one line, the condition in the next, etc.? Thanks so much 💕 love the purple nails this week, I got a hot coral pink ☺️
Hi! So glad they are useful! Fun nails are my favorite! So for the bullet points I actually have a 'template' I created in the notes app on my phone. It has the bullet points and the words before the : and then I just copy and paste that template in the description box when listing. Then all I have to do is fill in the measurements/etc. when listing. Hopefully that makes sense! Great question. I might actually make a video about that!
Just curious if you launder items unless they are NWT? I feel like I always want to clean a piece of clothing first. I know this can be time consuming but wondered what your thoughts were? Thanks for all the great information you give on your channel.
Thank you your videos have been so helpful! I've been thrifting for myself for years but I accumulate so much that I've recently begun reselling. As a full time seller do you have any videos or tips on how you keep track of inventory? or any helpful apps/software to use? Thanks :)
Do you ever launder items before listing? What about small stains that you can probably get out? Do you buy things you believe can be repaired and/or cleaned up?
I do wash things with stains or smells. Steam kills more bacteria than laundering so I steam everything unless it has to be laundered. I will only buy stuff that needs fixing if it will sell for a large profit margin
I love your videos! They are so helpful. I have found that even when I carefully inspect thrift store items before buying them, I sometimes find small holes or stains when I am measuring and getting ready to list them. Do you run into that problem, and if so how often does this happen to you? I would love to hear any input you have on that subject as I find it to be very frustrating. I also find that other customers at the thrift stores can be very pushy when I am trying to take the time to look through the racks. Does this happen to you when you are sourcing?
HOW DO HANDLE SCREW UPS, FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU MAKE A LISTING MISTAKE ON SIZE OR WHATEVER, AND THE BUYER IS MAD, DO YOU JUST REFUND THEIR MONEY, OR ASK THEM TO RETURN IT AND THEN YOU REFUND THEM
How do you measure a tailored women’s blouses? Where the pit to pit measurement may not be accurate because of pleats allowing additional room for breasts. Also the length of a top/dress with adjustable straps? Would you measure from under arm/ the front center down/ even the straps on shortest length?
This is very helpful! Thank you very much for sharing! Other people might asked already, but you usually don't wash the clothes? What do you usually do if there is "thrift shop odor"?
Hi Jenna Love your videos I am just starting to list on poshmark and wondering if there is a way to start a listing on my phone to take the pics in square mode and finish the listing on my pc. I have a hard time typing all the info from my phone.
Thank you for your videos, you are an amazing business woman and an inspiration! I'm curious how many listings you shoot for each day, 50? Sorry if you've already gone over this! 😘
Thank you! I definitely don't do 50 a day. I don't have specific number, instead I shoot for a certain dollar amount of value added to my closet. Like if I want to add $500 of value a day I list as many items as it takes to add that $500. Hope that makes sense. Maybe I will do a video on that.
Thanks for another clear and very helpful video. Can I ask, do you measure your items when they are hanging up? Does it matter if I measure them laying flat versus hanging up?
Your youtube videos are extremely helpful, Hustleathomemom recommended your page and I'm glad I took her advice. Question - would you be able to direct me to where I could purchase the polybags you used in your videos? - Thanks.
Thanks! Loved seeing how you start your process. This may sound dumb, but I wouldn't have thought to measure items while hanging. I'm used to pulling them down and laying them flat. I'm going to have to try out your process to see if it goes faster for me than what I'm currently doing. Thanks again! @shoplaurensplace
I noticed in the video that you place the steamer head inside the clothing when you steamed them. Is there a particular reason why you steam that way? Does it yield better results or sanitize the clothing?
It is just the way I was taught when I worked retail. To me it is easier and faster than steaming on the outside. Just be careful not to burn yourself!
I noticed your inventory goes straight from the bag to the rack, Do you just not buy anything that needs to be washed? Also the process of writing down the measurements seems like a lot of extra work, any reason you don’t just photograph the measurements?
Hi! This time nothing needed washing, but sometimes it does. Sometimes I notice stains when I'm steaming and then I have to wash. I only was if it has a stain or is stinky. For me the writing doesn't take long and since I'm measuring while hanging it would be hard to photo the measurement. I know some people that lay it flat and photo the measurements though!
My understanding is that when listing on Ebay the policy is that all used items are to be cleaned before they can be sold. pages.ebay.com/help/policies/used-clothing.html#why
Hi! Yes if the item is dirty and not clean I will wash it! Steaming actually kills more bacteria than laundering though and I steam ALL my items. Hope that helps!
When do you weigh your items? I like the idea of packaging everything before listing but how do you know what shipping costs and type will be when you list? I was weighing everything, then listing and packaging which took forever. Thanks!
@Callista ASMR The only thing I've found is that people weigh the item and round up for packaging. I plan to try this but life got crazy and I haven't listed anything recently.
Can you tell me how you share your whole closet everyday? I found the share your closet button but it is on other social media sights not on poshmark. Is that what you were talking about?
Hi! No I am talking about going through and individually sharing each item in my closet. It goes to your followers feed and it boosts it in the search results each time you share!
Empty Hanger. thanks. I was keeping my washing machine busy and that got old fast. I love your videos and your process. You are also easy to listen to. Thanks so much!!
Empty Hanger So with the go daddy bookkeeping software you use, would you enter the total amount on the receipt or do you track the cost of each individual item? Because I see a lot of people removing the price tags at the beginning of their process but how do you know what that item cost?
I don't track individual item cost for my accountant, I just track total amount spent. There are different ways you can do it, just have to figure out what works best for you!
I know you steam your items, but do you wash them? I believe the items are more germ free if you steam. However, if you thrift at the bins I know some people wash everything...what do you do?
@@EmptyHanger I haven't shopped at the bins either...I don't know if I could handle all the people tossing items...lol It scares me...I like my plain old Goodwill. thanks for the reply!
I have to wash everything always! But same with hang it up, steam. What slows me down is the photos, measurements, listing. Always learning to improve my process! Question! What do you pay on avg items? Biggest struggle for me is that items at thrift store have tripled sense I started reselling 4 yrs ago.
I want everything you have, the racks, the mannequin, the steamer! Lol. It all looks so simple and convenient
Thanks! I definitely try to keep things simple. In the beginning I bought lots of "equipment" I thought I needed, but really just the basics are necessary in my opinion!
I did buy a mannequin and some “legs”. I like the pics but it does take more time. I am also shooting square now to more easily post on Poshmark.
Do you ever wash the clothes?
This is SOOOO helpful & inspiring!! Poshmark isn't all thrifting--it's hard work! I'm definitely copying your method today!
Thank you! Yes SO much work.
I am obsessed! You are my favorite Poshmark TH-camr!!! - Question: how does your inventory number system work? I see you use A-Z and numbers, but how does that work? Do you re-use inventory numbers? I would love to know!!

Tried measuring with them hanging on rack but couldn't get accurate measurements. I would definitely be interested in watching you do it.
This is a stupid question but can you show us how to measure the clothing?
Not a stupid question! I can definitely do that in a video!
Empty Hanger
Thank you!
Please do :D
Can you include what measurements you take and how you keep record of them, i.e keep it in the listing or on your inventory log somewhere?
Empty Hanger I photographed my first bunch. I folded them nicely and put in poly bags. Lol then I realized I measured them all wrong.
Love seeing what all you do before listing items.
I absolutely love your system...does the steaming take that thrift store smell away I always wash my clothes from the thrift store.
I love how detailed you are in your videos!! Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Hello. Thanks for your content. This has answered my questions like no other. I struggle to focus on the listing process and tried doing one item at a time from photo to measure to list then move on the the next.
No Problem! Thanks for sharing how you do it! Maybe I will try it electronically on the phone somehow.
I have been using this method since I first seen this video and it has changed my whole eBay life 😂❤ lol thank you so much!
Yay! You're welcome! I'm so glad it's been helpful!
Love your videos! So freaking helpful! I really appreciate your tips! Would love to learn your process/opinion on prices when sourcing items for your closet. Specifically, how you decide what you're willing to pay for a specific item.

hi yes steamers kill bed bugs., germs, dust mites! i am trying to find the best steamer, because i heard jiffy was good can any one recommend one please!
You got me hooked on Sword and Scale. Started from the beginning (like you) and enjoying. Love the top you're wearing in this video.
Could you also show us a non sped up version of how you photograph the clothes, which shots you take? That would be super helpful as the speeding up is hard to see exactly what you take. (Also a non-sped up version of exactly hw and what you steam, which nozzle you use and how you measure?) Many Thanks!
I’m having trouble with long items (dresses/skirts/pants) in square view. Probably a dumb question but how can I take nice photos of long items? 🙃
I used to do the exact same thing with the page and the measurements but I always laid them out.. how much easier is that to have them hanging up so efficient 👍
Do u find that steaming removes that thrift store smell?
Thank you! This was so inspiring. And because of that I am currently knee deep in my store reorganizing! TY!
Yay! You're welcome!
My process is very similar except your measuring method is much faster! Def. will do it this way now! Thanks so much! 😁
Awesome! You're welcome!

Thanks so much for sharing. Why do you measure the clothes I want to start reselling as well but had no idea of what to do this was extremely helpful. In definitely a new subbie😁

I just ordered a steamer after watching this! Hopefully I picked a good one!
Hi! Thank you so much for this! I see that you linked the hangers in the description. Could you also link the hangers with the clips on them? I would love to purchase those too!!

Hi! You can use ANY priority box as long as it isn't Express. So I usually have a few sizes at home and just pick the best available.
Thank you, Jenna! Just trying to get ready to start listing my items on Poshmark. Love your video's! Hugs, Judy
Hi. For example If I bought something at goodwill so I have to put any etiquette ot bar code.
Just curious if you launder items unless they are NWT? I feel like I always want to clean a piece of clothing first. I know this can be time consuming but wondered what your thoughts were? Thanks for all the great information you give on your channel.
LOVE THIS! Thank you! It's very helpful .

Hello! Did you post part 2?
Thank you for your videos, you are an amazing business woman and an inspiration! I'm curious how many listings you shoot for each day, 50? Sorry if you've already gone over this! 😘
Thank you! I definitely don't do 50 a day. I don't have specific number, instead I shoot for a certain dollar amount of value added to my closet. Like if I want to add $500 of value a day I list as many items as it takes to add that $500. Hope that makes sense. Maybe I will do a video on that.
Empty Hanger It does make sense, thanks for the reply!
Thanks for another clear and very helpful video. Can I ask, do you measure your items when they are hanging up? Does it matter if I measure them laying flat versus hanging up?
Hi! I do measure them hanging up. No difference in my opinion. Still measuring from seam to seam like i would lying flat
Your youtube videos are extremely helpful, Hustleathomemom recommended your page and I'm glad I took her advice. Question - would you be able to direct me to where I could purchase the polybags you used in your videos? - Thanks.
Thanks so much! Here is a link to an Amazon page where I list most of my favorite products including the bags: www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-cd0d208a
Where did you get your mannequin? and how often do you thrift in a week?
Hi! I ordered it from Amazon. There is a link in the description box to all my favorite supplies from Amazon. I usually thrift 1-2 times a week
I looove sword & scale! Have you listened to Dirty John?
I haven't, but someone else was telling me about it. Definitely need to check it out!
It's just a different way! Definitely try it! I find it goes soooo much faster! You're welcome and thanks for watching Lauren!
What was the tie dye shirt?!Thanks.
Can all clothes take the steam ?
New subbie! Great videos!
Really helpful, Jenna! :)
Thank you!
Love this! Thanks so much!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video, Very helpful 🙌🙌
Can you tell me how you share your whole closet everyday? I found the share your closet button but it is on other social media sights not on poshmark. Is that what you were talking about?
Hi! No I am talking about going through and individually sharing each item in my closet. It goes to your followers feed and it boosts it in the search results each time you share!
Empty Hanger ok thanks for the response!
Hi I just created an account on poshmark would like to us PC to list but don't know how do I need to download the app first?
Are you washing your clothes? I just started listing and realised after I took photos the clothes stunk! Then I had to wash them. What do you do?
Hi! I only wash if it is stained or smells. I steam everything which kills more bacteria than washing.
Empty Hanger. thanks. I was keeping my washing machine busy and that got old fast. I love your videos and your process. You are also easy to listen to. Thanks so much!!
Thank you for adding the video ❤️
Thanks for watching :)
Do you keep track of what each thing cost?
Yes I use an online bookkeeping software for that....Go Daddy Bookkeeping.
Empty Hanger thanks for the response!! Very true. I’ll have to see what’s best for my process, appreciate the content! Xo
Do you think I should steam the item if is NWT or NWOT ?
I personally steam everything. Up to you though of course!
Where did you get your mannequin in the background? It looks like it swivels on its base.
It's a mannequin and a lazy susan...separate pieces. amzn.to/2ExG5Wx and amzn.to/2F5EaFl
Thanks!
Do you only steam the inside of the clothes?
Steaming from the inside goes faster because you don't have to pull and hold from the outside.
Thank You 🌼 Great video...
Do you wash the clothes?
Hi! No I steam everything which kills more bacteria than washing!
Empty Hanger thank you so much!! Definitely going to invest in one.
Where do you get the boxes you store your inventory in?
They are the Pingla from Ikea, but I hear they have just been discontinued. Some stores still have some in stock
Empty Hanger thank you
I know you steam your items, but do you wash them? I believe the items are more germ free if you steam. However, if you thrift at the bins I know some people wash everything...what do you do?
I wash if it is dirty, stained, etc. I don’t shop at the bins so I don’t know about that situation!
@@EmptyHanger I haven't shopped at the bins either...I don't know if I could handle all the people tossing items...lol It scares me...I like my plain old Goodwill. thanks for the reply!
How do you know which measurements belong to what item?
They are written on a list with the item name
Thank you for the tips
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
So you don’t write down each item and what it cost. How do you know how much profit you are making on each item?
Hi! I use GoDaddy Online Bookkeeping to track that info. I don't write it down. Thanks for watching!
Love true crime. You should listen to My Favorite Murder. The podcast is even on TH-cam.
Yes! I actually love that podcast! Thanks for sharing
if you watch my process there's two toddlers running around breaking sht lol. no room for pretty storage. You got a day job or someone pay your bills?
Hi! I am a full time reseller so it is my job and how I pay my bills. Thanks for checking out my channel!
What steamer do you use?
It's by conair from bed, bath, and beyond
Love your hair like this so perfect
Thank you! Always changing it up ;)
Do you wash your items?
I only wash the item if it smells, is dirty, or has a stain. I steam everything which actually kills more bacteria than washing!
do you wash your thrifted clothes ? I'm planning to resell and want to know your thoughts on that ! thanks you soooo much in advance
Hi! I steam everything which kills more bacteria than washing. I only wash if it smells or has a stain.
Empty Hanger thank you so so much ! appreciate it :)
I have to wash everything always! But same with hang it up, steam. What slows me down is the photos, measurements, listing.
Always learning to improve my process! Question! What do you pay on avg items? Biggest struggle for me is that items at thrift store have tripled sense I started reselling 4 yrs ago.
You don't wash it ;(
Hi! I steam everything which actually kills more bacteria than washing it! However, I wash if it smells, is dirty, or stained. Thanks for watching!
Empty Hanger thank you for responding I kill myself washing that's why I asked lol
