I didn't expect to hear Say It Ain't So here, that was a welcome surprise
Adore that song
Ever notice that the end of the solo sounds like the scooby doo theme
Same haha
Thank you! I couldn't remember the name of the song and it was driving me nuts :D
I swear, all your clean tone demos sound very *very* close to Līve stuff and it's honestly the coolest thing ever, intentional or not
Half intentional. Huge Live fan.
I’ve lived, I’ve walked, I’ve prayed, I talked, I know I know
12 dollars and 99 cents?!?! Sweet!
Sold!
Oh if only lol
diffently beats a basket of hot wings. Sold!!l
This may be one of the best demos you’ve put out in! A longer length demo toggling the aggression modes in and out of the mix as you would be cool as you stated, but this sounds just like a generator so Revv did a fantastic job.
i like your intro when it goes tu du tu tu tu du tu tu tu duuu tu du tu tu tu du tu tu du duuuuu
Love the features on this amp, the high gain tone, the size and format of it. Definitely will be looking into getting one!
Thanks dude!
Thank you for your enthusiastic and caring review of the Revv G20, as it is an incredible engineering accomplishment as well as ALL Revv products..!! Merci pour votre examen enthousiaste et attentionné du Revv G20, car il s'agit d'une incroyable réalisation technique ainsi que de TOUS les produits Revv .. !! ☺🙂💖🎶🎼🎁😎🎸
Nice run through. Must have one now. Thanks Fluff
Finally an amp I am jumping for this year.. Having midi as well makes this freaking awesome!!
I hear Weezer, I see Fluff is a man of class and taste.
Holy shit! Actual clean clean tone around 2:45! That's a first! ;) Just kidding, love ya Fluff. The #cleantonemafia will be sitting this one out for sure!
I just started play guitar a month ago. I already have my eye on this thing one day.
I'm wondering how the G20 compares - tonewise, featurewise & pricewise - to a setup with
- G3 & G4 Revv pedals
- Boss MS-3 (for distortion channel switching)
- Two Notes Cab M.
An idea for a next vid, Fluf? ;-)
I always loved the Generator 100 P for its tone and features (and looks tbh), but the price tag on it was way, *way* too much to swallow, so it always remained just a dream. Not a big pedal guy either, so G3 and G4 were a pass for me.
Now this one? This might just be the amp I've been dreaming about for the past several years, especially since mic'ing a cab in my studio is basically not a thing. And while my wallet will still *definitely* feel this price tag, at least it's in the realm of possibility. Revv, if you're lurking down here somewhere, you have my sincere thanks for making this beauty, and I can't wait to try it out for myself... eventually :D
That Music Man Guitar is so cool.
It sounds pretty good. I've always found Revvs a bit... Sterile? But I can respect how extremely tight they are. The cleans were very good! Seems like a solid product, even if the Tones aren't quite my cup of tea.
That thing looks so clean
We found it! The clean tone!
Mini heads are the future
Why don't we see your Dunable in any demos?
I'm mean I care about eq but I record in a bedroom and a 100w beast just would be rediculous. My Mesa mini rectifier does the job perfectly at 25w and has separate eqs for the red and green channels so bit of a sweeping statement. I'm just happy that lunchbox amps are around to help kill of some of the terrible solid states (not all of them).
@KC you make good points and I do agree with about a somewhat lack of head room etc... But, at the end of the day will anyone really notice the difference between let's say a Jim root orange tiny terror and rockerverb 100 two similar amps, one with a miniturised power section of the others, in a mix? After all I know that Beartooth started off making albums using a micro dark terror and those albums are held in high regard.
I not saying you're wrong, if I could have a triple rectifier with a attenuator good enough to bring the volume down to a bedroom level I would 100% trade that for my lunchbox amp, however that's not an option.
You have to admit a tiny generator with the cab simulator and a choice to use headphones is pretty damn cool especially for those living in flats, uni acommodations, shared housing etc...
@KC I can tell I'm not going to change your option; Beartooth are famous for an amazing guitar tone (I was talking about how they are regarded in the guitar scene not in record sales), I've seen many comparison of lunchbox heads up against larger counter parts and they sound similar enough for the average person to not understand the difference.
Not every person that you, I or anyone else record for (as the listener) are going to care about miniscule differences in tone between a lunch box or anything else.
I bet most bands you have listen to and enjoyed music from have recorded with lunchbox heads at some point and you've been none the wiser like everyone else.
I don't want to argue with you about this but lunchbox heads have there place. (Most) sound gorgeous and no worse than larger heads in many opinions not just mine.
Definitely another winner from Revv. I might have to pick one of these up to go with my Generator 7-40 Mk II.
I'm curious, would you be able to compare this directly to the big Generator in a shootout video? Kind of like how you did the Bugera Trirec vs Mesa Rectifier.
Xamd when I compared the two at NAMM, they sound extremely similar. Only difference I found was that the 100p sounded a little clearer than the G20 (due to headroom). I played both at matching volumes in an isolation room and both sounded great. The g20 can roll with the big ones in terms of volume 😉
Need to hear it with drums but was just thinking how cool this would be if Revv.... holy cow they made a mini....
are we just not going to talk about that pultec clone in the background? gunna need an updated studio tour
Love that amp’s tone. I want one.
Very cool technology in a amp.
Revv g20 vs the PRS MT 15? What do you think?
I hope more manufaturers will follow that trend. Right now only REVV and Hughes and Kettner have small amps with decent cab sims.
Friedman jj jr?
@@nuitari666uzgurzmor6 weeell the IR out doesn't allow using more or your own IRs but yeah that one goes also in that direction
... The HOOK wizard amp is more on that side
Im glad some one said it. El 84 is not my deal either apparently
Orokusaki, you’re not the only one. EL84-powered amps never seem to have the same thump and push, if you know what I mean. Give me EL84, 6L6, or KT88 power tubes and a 4x12; they make for an amp that’s a piece of magic to behold and feel while playing.
I love how great these Lunchbox amps are getting. I think FORTIN will have a Lunchbox Amp at NAMM...
Lunchbox amps with big powered speakers and a live DAW rig becoming the new way to go?
@@Shredwizard445 what is DAW?
I want one....but the comet not the first G20 which was just a pedal platform.......it sounds like an awesome practice amp and also awesome for home recording in an apartment without offending the neighbors noisewise
Wow. It actually sounds like clean tones were not an afterthought here. Similar to the PRS MT-15 in that regard. But with a TON of great recording features. In fact, your direct recorded high gain tone sounds quite comparable your miked cab tone. Cool amp.
This is everything I wanted in one amp, so I gotta get one. The cleans sound good, the gain channels sound very nice and I can play with headphones and silently record directly to my interface. God damn I didn't want to spend $1300 on a new amp but this is going to be hard to ignore.
digital IRs (+load boxes) are probably one of the best inventions of the last couple of decades. attach that to a generator, and you have got quite the amp
The Two Notes emulation is crazy. It has power amp emulation as well as reverb and an EQ. So, with midi, you can create 3 different tones and channel switch between them.
The torpedo live costs c.a. $799 new so having a torpedo live basically embedded in this amp means it has a lot of features at an extremely competitive price point.
Wait until they go for sale used, and buy one then.
@@SuperJiggawhat That is my strategy for most gear.
@@paulemillevasseur7622 Cool man. I'm just rambling here, but I wish more amps were designed around the 6v6 tube. They last longer, have that el84 tone, and are more reliable.
say it aint so wooo hoooo I dont need cab heavy ass cab any more! lol.
I'm loving the G20. Great video!
Twisted by Design by Strung Out NEEDS a tone guide. PLEASE FLUFF!!!
Wow I don't usually like anything but if those clips with the IR's are coming straight from the head, that's some decent plug n play for $1200...
This would go fabulous with my ENGL Ironball amp.
Same here man. I love my ENGL Ironball but I'm jonesing for a G20!! There are so many great high gain lunch box heads coming out....Fortin Sigil, ENGL Fireball 25. This is the Golden Age of Gear!
That sounds spectacular
Many people say the Friedman JJ Jr defies the typical EL84 criticisms, thoughts? Generally though, ya, big bottles = better, both for clean headroom and high gain, where you do not want power tube distortion for either.
I wonder if the head automatic connects the internal load if the speaker cable is not inserted. This is a must. The little switch on the back is so easy to flip and it could damage the amp without any load
THATS FREAKIN AWSOME SIR
actual cleans :o
I always ask myself, "is this something Trent Reznor or Robin Finck would use?"
This one just might be.
I once saw a photo of entire floor in their studio covered with guitar pedals #gearporn
Fluff, please, please, please, demo the amp of the 90s US death metal - the Ampeg VH140C. A famous amp, yet no decent demo anywhere.
REVV Rules 🤘🏽
Not really happy with G20 vids I have seen so far-basically no one has answered my questions, so I'm hoping you can or will.
1.) Do you need an additional computer to load and save cabinets?
2.) I use Studio One for my DAW-Can I plug the G20 right into my Scarlett 212 and record?
3.)How do you switch from rhythm guitar tone to lead guitar tone while your in the middle of song?
4.) Other vids show Revv pedals for overdrive, distortion, delay, reverb etc. The whole point for me anyways is to "Not" use pedals on stage. Can I get the sounds I want from the cabinet software that is built in?
5.) Can I get a loaner for about..1 year? That's how long it will take me to learn how to program the damn thing!...lol:)
Thanks for your help in advance.
Is there a difference between this and the purple model?
Very cool
I'll say it again, $1,200+ for a 20 watt amp is a lot.
Not for a good amp
seeing all the features it comes 1300 could actually be a proper price. surely there's cheaper 20 watt amps out there but the don't come with the built in loadbox which is very useful in live situations
@@boogerrs1031 hughes and kettner ... just saying
William Shapiro that’s like saying $60,000 for 4 wheels is a lot, conveniently neglecting the fact those 4 wheels are attached to a brand new Mercedes Benz
@@PigglyWigglyDeluxe it's not a Mercedes though.. REVV amps may be good but they are not used by a big audience like MESA,Diezel or EVH.
and even with all the features it has, H&K does the same for less than half of the price.
EVH does the 5150 15W for about 500/600.
if they brought the price down to about 850 then i could see this amp become really popular because of the mid price range
But can you use the ir's and a real cab at the same time? Great video by the way!!
You can absolutely do that.
Do you prefer revv g20 vs hughes and ketner 200 black spirit
Forgive the silly question - is the usb used to communicate with the software and the xlr is used to send the actual guitar signal?
DAM LOVE THAT MUSICMAN
cool amp. you should do a video on the amp that started the whole lunchbox amp class; THD univalve and bivalve. let people know where some of this tech came from. id say that bivalve is still a better amp than any of these copies. switchable tubes, no tool or rebiasing needed! pure class A sound! real attenuator, not a switch, you can control volume with it, for pure amp saturation at any sound level.
Hows the bottom end on this thing? Can you dial in a fat tight bottom end that's punchy?
I wish there was a Revv amp that was more geared to us Sabbath enthusiasts, as a Canadian I'd much rather support Revv than Orange but to my ears the Revv distortion is too fizzy and tight as opposed to sludgy and slow, am I missing something? Is there a Revv for us Electric Wizard/Kyuss/High on Fire types or should we just stick to Orange/Matamp?
Woooooo that sounds great! 1300 bucks tho?
Yeah you could buy a computer and DAW software and plugins for the same price
Leo Pollock I’d love to have it. But I think I would rather pic up a new iMac instead
What wave of friend is better? I guess the rev g20, that this great prs mt15, although I suppose that for the price it will be normal to be superior, don't you think?
Have a feeling Revv sent this demo unit out to Fluff with the specific request he do some clean tones lol
How do the clean channels for the D20 and G20 compare...same? I was about to pick up the D20 as clean platform and run all 3 Revv G pedals into the front of it. If G20 same clean then might as well grab the G20 for extra gain options and saving presets via midi.
The cleans are different. The D20 is from our Dynamis line and the G20 has the same cleans as our Generator line. D20 is a single channel and G20 is 2 channel. Hope that helps.
the G20s clean channel is cleaner, where the d20 always has a little dirt/edge of breakup waiting to happen.
Thanks for the responses. I’ll go for the G20 once its available.
When you demo tracks for gear reviews, are you double tracking your guitars? It sounds incredibly tight and clean and I'd love to hear what your chain is.
How would you volume match the clean and the gain channel so that you can switch between the two during the same performance?
Ah ah I see I'm not the only one not fond of El84... :) I love 6V6 and El34....
Vincent Morel, don’t forget the beloved 6L6!
im not a fan of the el84 either tried a couple amps with them just seem to lack something
Yeah, but Fluff doesn’t like mini-heads either so...of course it’s awesome but this video is still an advertisement
I saw in another review that the gain knob doesn't work on the clean channel to hit that bluesy near break up sound? Is this true? Would seem weird to me.
You are correct!
@@clemguitar63 Thanks!
Got your first 👍. Love your channel man. Have a great day.
Did you use the XLR out for the tune or did you mic up a cab??
Oh dude, fantastic tones !! btw, which exact model is that EBMM Valentine guitar ?
So, if i ise midi to switch between presets.. does the eq change too? Or stay the same?
What song is this riff from??? 1:36
Same I need thissss
@@danielschrick dont know sorry
Argh! What is that song at 5:26? I know I've heard it before. It is eluding me.
Foo fighters alone + easy target
What do you think of it vs something like a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister Deluxe 20/40?
I was heavily considering the deluxe 40 but now I'm not sure because of this
What is a clean channel?
Does it have the exact same cleans with the D20?
How is the volume? Could you keep up with an aggressive drummer? One of the criticisms of the D20 is that it wasn't loud enough. Just curious if this is any different.
It’s really damn loud
does this amp have the same amazingly glassy cleans that the D20 has?
Looks cool, but for the price I think I'd rather just get a Boss expander for my tube amp
atmosvere 2 TOTALLY different things
@@ZackSeifMusic Yeah, two different products, but I'd use it for the same thing. I have a great pedal platform amp (Hamstead Artist 20+), so if I bought this I'd only use it for silent recording and playing, so again, the Boss would be better for ME.
atmosvere totally fine. I would prefer this for a cheaper version of the Generator amp. The built in Two Notes is a nice plus. Almost like a free amp all things considered.
But they also have the 7-40 which is more gig friendly than this. A comparison between the two would be cool.
Curious to see how the Waza Expander stands up to things like a separate Two Notes and Ox Box
OK, is the preamp solid state or tube?
All tube.
6L6 in in a mini head? thank christ. other than the mini rectifier, all of those baby tubed heads sound squashed and thin. for someone who needs very little, this amp is a godsend. can't find anything on a footswitch. you mentioned purple channel, but the LED is red? which channel does it model?
The G20 & D20 both run on 6V6 power tubes!
Purple Channel, regardless of the RED LED.
revvamplification.com/product/revv-g20-footswitch/
Anyone who has purchased this amplifier: do you find that the shared EQ section is prohibitive in getting the dist/clean sounds you want? Have you gigged with it? How did it go?
Breaking news..... fluffs clean tone was actually "clean" . World is shocked. 😃
I can't get this thing to work on my PC. None of the software detects the device
Great amp, BUT... as much as I WANT it for all the things it can do, it is still a luxury and a relatively limited one at that. The $1300 price tag will buy anyone a lot of great sounding live/recording options if they do not absolutely require real tubes somewhere in the signal path.
this is weird. Rabea massad, Gear Gods, and Fluff release a gear review of the same item, ON THE SAME DAY.
Awesome, but it's kind of confusing if REVV comes out with a few different models like that (D20, G20...?)
Matt Adams, 5150, 5150 II, 6505, 6505+, 6534...I think Revv will be ok with their current naming conventions.
If Fluff said that the D20 was to sort of see what they could do, let’s call that one the Demo 20. This one is based on the Generator, so the G20 name at least makes more sense.
Still, I’d rather see unique names for amplifiers. Many brands had or have amps that just stand out in my memory almost just because of their names. Butcher, Satan, Stiletto, Warhead, Generator, and many more. Single Rectifier, Dual Rectifier, Triple Rectifier, all named for a feature inherent to their design, but their names each make them stand out from each other.
Maybe Revv will hear you out, maybe they won’t. Either way, they make some killer guitar amps.
Now all I need is $1,300 and a way to rack mount this.
Is there a way to rack mount this? Hopefully there is....
A rack mount is in the works! :)
Right now people are just foaming it in their racks but we're working on rack tabs to release sometime in 2020.
Revv Amps Thats good news! One day it’ll be mine haha
Faq
If you had to receive guitar lessons from a TH-camr, who would you pick?
Great video sir...great amp, but I'm poor.😎
"Fluff, did you get that G20 in the mail back to us". "Why yes, yes I did - you didn't get it?". Click... (plays second verse of say it aint so...)
Dang I have not heard weezer in so long.
How much does this amplifier cost? if it's in the video; I'm sorry, I don't understand English very well.
1,299 usd
@@ScottKroekerArtographer Thank you Bro.
thats about that money, a Kemper would cost you... sounds great, but there are better options for that money.
Where is it outputting to when you say XLR out? Sorry, I'm a bit n00bish here.
FOH or audio interface/mixer. Depending if you’re playing live or recording.
Do I see a new MusicMan Valentine in this video?
You should test the new HOOK Wizard.
Me likey! Now I have new gear lust! Arrrggghhh!
News flash, none of us cared about the clean channel
I can't imagine how the attenuator switch looks like ;)
Do you get this stuff for free or they send this to you and you have to return it, or do you buy it yourself?
I saw Ola did a video featuring the G20 too (and I assume we'll see a couple of other TH-camrs featuring it soon) so I would assume that in this case it's sent out for a demo/review and then needs to be sent back (lol I just finished the vid and he did say it's a loaner amp). Obviously in some cases though, TH-camrs will be sent stuff to keep permanently
Never trust a review 100% if they are not paying for it. They will never give a bad review else the next time Revv or other companies have a new product they won't send it to them
@@gonzalosanchez6387 Thats why like the reviews of Glenn from SMG, he is kinda of a dick but he is at least honest.
We need a straight up basic monster version of this. All the tone and gain, and none of those bullshit extras that makes it way too expensive. Most people won’t give a fuck about all that fancy stuff.
I prefer your pre-"that's not a clean tone bruh" clean tones to these clean tones btw. Can't please them all all of the time I guess but cool demo nonetheless :)
Wrestle with jimmyyy
I hate el84 tubes also, they burn out really fast and sound fizzy.
