Hi, first time here!! lovely classroom..and I like your thought-process- I like a purposeful room!! (btw, where did you get your string lights?) Have a Fantastic Year!!
Hi! This year's classroom setup series are the first videos I've watched from you. Your room is so pretty. I love the colorful decorations. I'm a retired (11 years in September) first grade teacher and love revisiting the little kids' class setups/ day to day videos. Calm down corners were not in use then, so I was wondering if they really work. Do the children just misuse that to get out of tasks and go play with the "toys" everyone seems to put there? I'm not being critical, just curious. :-) I hope your first day is wonderful!
That’s a great question! To be honest, my group of kiddos last year NEVER used it, or had to use it! I know it’s common to have a student misuse it… so this year I have been really stating my expectations on how to use the calming corner! I will keep the channel updated if they use it and how it goes!
I use a combo of different slides! I don't have my own slides on TPT yet! - www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Routines-and-Procedures-Kindergarten-Expectations-Classroom-Routines-Slides-8449474 - www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Back-to-School-Classroom-Management-Procedures-Routine-Visuals-Digital-Slides-5652486
I'm considering becoming a teacher. However when I was a substitute teacher in my district a couple years back, I was overwhelmed as 95% of the classes I taught were breaking pretty much every rule and wouldn't listen. But the odd class that went well reinforced my wanting to be a teacher. Would you say teacher school prepares you for classroom management or is it just easier when it's your class? Or would you say this is a sign maybe being a teacher isn't right for me?
I would definitely say it is different when it is your own class! I think being a sub is a way harder job! That being said, classroom management is something you will learn your first year teaching. No accreditation program can prepare you for building relationships with and managing your students! ❤❤❤
Everything is looking great ❤
Thank you!
Very nice! You could put that new small blue rug in your calm down corner if it doesn't work where you put it. Have a wonderful year.
That’s a great idea! Thank you!

As a teacher, I found that I stopped using the Voice Levels..they did not work and were not necessary. Your room looks great!
I totally agree! Thank you for your expertise!
I have thought the same in the past. You just affirmed my opinion! ❤
